I really enjoy videos where you review an entire product line, finding the "gems" among them. I always stick with affordable products, but every once in a while, I like to treat myself to a more expensive, special product. So the mask has definitely caught my attention!! This may end up on my birthday list this year, as I will be turning 60! (I don't know HOW this is possible!!)❤️❤️❤️ Well done, Rob!!

Dear Rob, I believe this second time you are reviewing Dr Sam's FLAWLESS NIGHTLY SERUM and failing to mention that it has Granactive Retinoid. If I relied only on your review, I would get a wrong idea about this serum. Also, mentioning that the eye serum has Granactive Retinoid would have been helpful. Although, I am not a fan of this skincare line (I find it to be too overpriced), I hope in the future you could help your followers to be better informed, as well as to be fair to Dr S. Bunting's skin care line, and people who worked on it. Wishing you a peaceful Sunday evening and a good start for the new week.

I've only tried the Flawless Nightly Serum. I knew I could probably buy the actives for separate and cheaper. But I was JUST starting to get into a more proactive routine. So it was initially worth being able to introduce 1 simplified step as a beginner.

The brightly serum has a vit c and the nightly has a Granactive Retinoid. Both the serums have niacinamide, azilaic acid, and bakuchiol. The key differences are the vit c and the retinoid. That's why one is marketed for day and the other for night. I've used her line. I love all the products from her line, except for the spfs. Mineral doesn't work for me. My children finished up the spf and my 8yro son loved the hybrid one so I'll be repurchasing all the products. My only complaint is the packaging on the cleanser. I wish it came in a flip top packaging to save on packaging. Thanks for another great review. ❤️

@eloisehellyer6857

At first, I didn’t like the cleanser, but then I realized after I finished it and when back to my usual double cleanse, that her cleanser didn’t bother my eyes while the oil and Neutrogena cleanser do. Also, it’s easier and quicker than the double cleanse. So I ordered more cleanser and the handy-dandy refill. Don’t much like the spfs so I’m not re-ordering. I just reordered the eye cream and the nightly serum both of which have granactive retinol. The eye cream I can use every night, but the nightly serum, not always. So I haven’t ordered her more potent serum yet. She says to go through several cycles before you upgrade. My skin is looking pretty good, considering I’m 73. No age spots, fine wrinkles are minimized, kind of glowy, so I will continue to use these three of her products as well as Timeless and Maelove. I really don’t find them that expensive compared to many others.

I am enjoying Dr Sams products I like the brightly serum, spf which I found to be a more hydrating mineral spf which usually dries my skin. I also like both the revival mask and moisturiser and her body moisturiser. The nightly serum is fine. I also like the lip balm which is lovely and the cleanser is fine. Price is higher than I usually pay but if it’s a treat or a present then I think fair especially since it’s created by a Harley St dermatologist and having lived in London for 4 years I know you can pay a lot more. I also like that you can buy some in a pack and would definitely like to see a chemical spf which I tend to use more often. Good video Rob and keep it up

I have enjoyed learning from Dr Sam but I agree with other comments here that, actually, she only talks about issues her products treat/address & only ingredients that are in those products. I feel like her socials are really just extended adverts for her services and/or skincare line. Once I'd learned the basics, I found that Dr Sam's content had little more to teach me.

Hi there - FYI the Dr Sam sunscreen is a combination sunscreen not just a physical one. Dr Dray reviewed this in 2019 - I just looked to confirm the info. Great video - I have used lots of the Dr Sam range. For reference I am 57 years old with dehydrated sensitive skin. Nightly serum - I didn't really get anywhere with that - either it did nothing or irritated my skin when I increased usage so I gave up. I currently use the tinted physical sunscreen - Gossamer tint - which is nice but does leave the skin a bit too shiny - esp around my eyes. It is comfortable to use though. The cleanser was too drying for my dehydrated skin. The untinted Gossamer physical sunscreen was a nightmare for me - it pilled every single time no matter what I did. Flawless lip is nice - very thick and soothing, I personally liked the moisturiser but overall it wasn't hydrating enough so I had to use tons of it and when using the lighter one in the summertime I felt it didn't hydrate my skin at all. Hope my personal experience helps anyone considering the Dr Sam range 😊

I liked the untinted mineral sunscreen, didn't think much of the cleanser for the price... pretty much out of my budget price range, when I can get prescription treatments and drugstore cleansers/moisturisers for a lot cheaper.
@lorainemcgillivray77

Hi Rob I like Dr Sam's youtube channel and the brand matches her overall elegant aesthetic, but tbh it's priced a bit higher than I want to pay. I may try the mineral spf, as I'm a fitzpatrick one and whitecast has to be really obvious to look bad on me. If it is a hydrating mineral spf, it may be worth a try for me (super dry, mature, rosacea and eczema prone). I get my azelaic acid on prescription from my GP and my retinoid from G&G - both of which work really well for me. For a night time eye product the Avene physiolift retinaldehyde is working well and it's a lot cheaper than the Dr Sam eye product shown. At some point I might treat myself to the mask and try it as a daily moisturiser - perhaps when I order the spf? I did order some Paula's choice products during their recent sitewide 20% off sale in the UK. Of the three ordered none irritated my skin, but the stand out for me is the clinical dry skin cream in the purple tube. It's also one of their most expensive moisturisers unfortunately. It has a beautiful texture and is really comforting on my dry/irritated skin and yet sits well under spf and makeup all day. Still not enough for overnight (where I need something even richer and more occlusive), but I may try their body cream for that next time. Despite the higher price tag I may cave and get it again in the Autumn, when my skin will be going mental with the change in season. I'm really enjoying it just now, but by the time it's used up we should have better weather and something less rich will probably work at that time. The other two were from the standard dry skin range - the mineral spf30 and the hydrating overnight mask. The mineral spf is a bit drying and has a more obvious white cast than the calm range spf does and the mask is nowhere near enough hydration for me (it pills used over the clinical moisturiser btw - despite them saying to use it over a moisturiser). Layered three times (it's a 100ml plus tube) it works fine as a traditional moisturising mask, but won't be a repurchase. I will of course try your mineral spf once it is available (in the hope it isn't too drying), but obviously will need to use a moisturiser underneath with that too. it does sound like it will be a much better price and that's always a bonus. My absolute favourite mineral spf is by skinceuticals, but it's gone up in price to £44 for 50mls - which is why I'm no longer buying it. At the previous £36 I could just about justify it, but not at £44 ouch. A 50ml bottle in the colder months lasts me a couple of months, but in warmer weather it's a month if that - no way can I pay £44 for it per month on my budget. The Avene version is fairly similar to the skinceuticals in texture and application, but it's more drying on the skin. It's also between £13 and £18, depending if it's on offer and more sustainable as a repeat purchase. Best wishes.

Dear Rob, 1) Critical wavelengt is the most important factor in chosing sunscreen. Current regulations are clearly outdated and they require that 90 % of absorption occurs up to 370 nm, and not up to 400 nm! That means that no sunscreen can realiable provide excellent protection against UVA 1, ie 370 to 400 nm. 2) Non visible mineral sunscreen are acheived thanks to modern nano sized mineral particles. However, if you want the mineral sunscreen to provide excellent UVA 1 protection, it by necessity needs to be whiter because of the use of larger particles which more reflect and less absorb the rays. 3) The white cast has been heavily demonised in media, but any make up is visible on the skin, right? 4) Chemical sunscreens have the opposite problem, ie they are not visible on the skin, but they are very visible indeed on the fabric (cotton, wool etc.), either before or after washing, in terms of permanent brown or yellow stains. 5) LOreal has a new filter for 380 to 400 nm protection, its trade name is Mexoryl 400 and it is included in their new UVMUNE 400 line for La Roche Posay. 6) Pierre Fabre also has a new filter for up to 450 nm, although it goes even further, it is trade name is TriAsorB and it is included in several Avene sunscreens in their Orange line. I have tried sunscreens with both of these new filters.
@odetaonete7600
@odetaonete7600 2 года назад
Thanks for your very detailed explanations. These new filters, as far as I know, are chemical. Have you found any physical sunscreen with excellent UVA protection and a bearable white cast?
@ljuboblajic4903
@ljuboblajic4903 2 года назад
@@odetaonete7600 I am afraid, no. That said, if the mineral product is to white, they sometimes add iron oxides (pigments) to mask that white color. One good example is Avene "Mineral cream" for face and neck, 50 ml, all titanium dixiode cream, no zinc oxide, it is white on application but thanks to iron oxides it soon becomes less white, but not transperent. However, that still does not mean that it provides excellent UVA 1, 380 to 400 nm, protection. The brand does not claim that. And iron oxides like chemical filters stain the fabric, so you can only use it on face and ears. Chemists can easily formulate excellent mineral sunscreens (like in old days), but people simply DO NOT WANT that white color. Sunscreens are like medicine drugs (in US they are OTC drugs !), they are simply not optimal in terms of cosmetic features.
@odetaonete7600
@odetaonete7600 2 года назад
@@ljuboblajic4903Right, tinted mineral sunscreens stain the fabric, this is why I do not want to use them. Well, very true, I guess we want too much "cosmetically elegant" and then we have less protection. I will try the ultrusun mineral one, it has a very good discount now on look fantastic, 40% +5, I can see in the reviews it has white cast but not really dreadful... Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge

@@MadAboutSkin Perhaps because it is listed under its chemical name Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate. Second to bottom line on the ingredients list. There are however much greater issues with this serum. Open the air-pump once it is 'empty' and you will find a significant quantity of grainy/gooey serum remaining. The grains are crystallised azelaic acid. When looking at the difference in weight it equates to over 30% of the weight of the serum that is trapped in the container and is unusable. Customers don't realise this as they don't open the container or weigh the products. Luckily I'm such a geek I have been keeping track of this for a while. Customer services reccomend putting it into a 'warm water bath' in the hope it will re-dissolve. It doesn't. I can provide pictures, emails and weight measurements to prove this.

I couldn't use these products. They are too drying and I had to pass them along to my mom with oily skin because you can't return any of the products from the US. I thought it would work for me since Dr Sam said she has rosacea and drier skin, but I found the cleanser overly drying and the moisturizers weren't nearly moisturizing enough for my skin. Also the cleanser didn't work to fully remove makeup and sunscreen, so I didn't like that it didn't really work and it was so drying. When I used just the system (cleanser, serum, moisturizer) my skin got dehydrated. I started seeing fine lines I hadn't had before, it was not good. I should have listened to all the reviews that said that, especially about the moisturizers. Also to be honest I didn't like any of the textures. I didn't find them pleasant enough for the price. Also I found the serums irritating on my sensitive rosacea skin. They caused redness and stinging, and after that I learned I can't use vitamin c or azelaic acid. I really love the medik8 bakuchiol serum instead! It works so much better for me. I've never tried the eye cream! I prefer other ones that are easier to get in the US and more affordable.

My only experience is with the sunscreen, which was a definite fail for me. My skin is oily in the summer and combination in the winter. Finding a sunscreen for oily skin, while living in a humid, steamy climate is a challenge. I want excellent protection, which doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and doesn’t remain sticky after application. While Dr. Sam’s sunscreen supposedly offered protection and did not feel heavy, it remained horribly sticky, unpleasantly slick and stained my clothing. I was quite disappointed because the SPF was advertised as suitable for all skin types. I was further disappointed when the company didn’t accept the return of two unopened containers for a refund. My final disappointment was that my review, which simply said the formula was not suitable for a mix of oily skin in a humid environment, was never posted on her website. I realize that my final disappointment may sound naive, but I had relied on what I perceived as the company’s claim for transparency. Thanks very much for such a thorough review.

@@monicaduncan7109 Interesting! I hadn’t heard that about Dr. Sam. I will have to look it up.

I've been following Dr Sam for years and she's always spoken about getting her training from Cambridge and UCL and practising medical dermatology in NHS for years before switching to private practice along with her partners Dr Emma and Dr Rakesh. She's a Cosmetic Dermatologist and the last I checked, you'd need to have the same qualifications as a regular dermatologist. Perhaps you are confusing her for Dr V.

@@twoleftfeet9626 I know it’s not the omnilux (which I use), but it is a company related to omnilux. Let me figure it out and I’ll get back to you…

@@tthibideau Might be the Current Body one. That and the omnilux were too expensive for me. I just ordered the No 7 one which apparently has the same spec as current body

It’s the Rio Facelite. I’m pretty sure he got it through look fantastic (as the Omnilux does not ship to the UK).

You're too smart to get sucked into the whole "eye cream" scene!!! Don't waste your money; unless you're getting this for free!!!
