On a day where there are no better keepers I'll bring home a few small Jack Crevalle. Bleed them and remove all the red bloody meat on the skin side of the filets. The light colored meat works well in a poached or baked recipe. Another RU-vidr says to boil it and eat it like canned tuna. I've never tried that method.
Jacks are mushy. The best way to eat them is as a fish dip . fillet, smoke the filets with the skin on, scoop the meat out, mix it with cream cheese and a little olbay. It's good stuff.
Jack crevalle is a pretty good fish when you smoke it and have the right seasoning. It tastes almost like smoked mullet. Both are pretty decent when smoked with Buttonwood.
Try Jack again .... BUT ..... bleed it , filet , soak in milk and Italian dressing overnight and grill it ...................... TRY IT THAT WAY !!!!!!
see here's the biggest problem regarding "trash" fish. all i ever see out of people is they fry their fish in oil. that's all people do is fry it in oil. which is great for some fish but not EVERY GODDAMN FISH. that crevalle jack looks really oily and fatty just judging by the color of the meat. WHY ARE YOU FRYING IT IN MORE OIL AND FAT. for example, bluefish sucks ass fried in oil. it's a very oily and fatty fish, but i think it's great grilled. do something different with it and you might be pleasantly surprised. or hell, you might hate it. that's fine too but damn soap box dismantled
Not wild about Jacks. I've eaten them but did not enjoy it. I caught it, I bled it, I filet ted it and did not like it. Ate it within minutes on the beach.completely Meh. As far as edible, hell Aunt Susie's ...never mind
Enjoyed your videos much better before you decided to share them with 2 other people and there wives taping you tube videos. IMO dosen't flow well your better just making fishing videos.
