100% agree with other commenters i personal watched 25-30 hours of Timmy tacticals live streams and this review hits on every point that arose throughout there play test, hands down best GZW content and live stream creator i have seen to date.
I'm willing to bet a sizable amount that is absolutely on the agenda for the devs. The map is just too damn big NOT to add vehicles. Not to mention the road network is already in place as are the models
as someone who did active duty in the army for 8 years, the sound of the M4 is spot on, unfortunately its not crazy or anything, but its very realistic.
The AK on the other hand sounds very unrealistic there is too much of a metal sound in the shot itself. You wouldnt be able to hear that much metal if you are 200 meters away while getting shot by an AK.
@@VanyaTheSlavic people want realism yet when the realism doesn’t live up to their expectations they get upset and want something that sounds fake. Just dumb
Right NOW the biggest problems are: LZ camping, servers/rubber banding (this is the biggest issue) and optimization. Also more helicopters would be nice so you don’t have to wait for ever. If they solve these three-four problems in the next 1-3 months I will be happy.
It was like Moidawg and Bigfry swapped personalities. Moi was Debbie Downer and Bigfry was unusually quite positive about it all. Don't know what some guys expected, but some of the negative stuff was astounding considering this even in it's current state, is some of the best new game potential we've seen in a long time. Graphically, gameplay, and general overall concept, by a developer who appears to be genuinely excited, transparent, and pro-active about bringing the best end product possible. Great review and from what I've seen, right on the money. Maybe a faction patch as an identifier might be a thing. Heli wave off to next nearest LZ is a good call. And yes, random roaming patrols to make those long treks have a sense of danger. Nice work Timmy. Sub'd
I think the major difference must have been prior knowledge. Moi not knowing you can cancel animations. Moi talking and implying that IFF (identification of friend or foe) was not an intentional design by the devs even though it was and that they made it very clear that PvP will never be the main gameplay focus for the devs, that they actually want to discourage it as much as possible. On the other hand BigFry seemt to me mostly like someone who actually tries to be informed about the games he talks about. I don't watch him as often as I do other creators in this space, but that's the impression I had. He had more prior knowledge about what GZW is currently and what its goals are for the future, while Moi seemingly went in blind and knowing nothing and criticizing aspects of it as if they were done by mistake rather than intention.
One big issue I see is actually in the friendly fire since it’s not punished. So friendlies just can walk up to you blast you in the face and take all your shit without repercussions.
@@TimmyTactical Right, but then they can just join another server and keep going. I guess we need to wait and see if people will get banned over it or not.
You took the words out of my mouth with the different game comment mate. I actually thought "is he playing the same game" Love this review brother. Always honest and always accurate.
Now! This is a solid and accurate review! I hate watching the clickbait rants about everything that was "wrong" and "unsupported opinions". Keep it up my guy!!
Thanks for the feedback brother I appreciate it! I try tell it how it is and yes there is bugs but ot far exceeds anything else at this stage. The devs will straight up tell you there is issues they are working on where as most of the game's I've reviewed have been promoted like an amazing game when they are trash. Anyway thanks for your support
I like the quests in this game but maybe radio the progress back to base would be a nice feature. Btw you are not locked into an animation, press right mouse.
This was my thought with like kill 20 task have us either carry a radio or something to verify task complete and then receive kill the leader task so you don't have go back to base if you don't want too. The other, like turn intel or item in, I get having to go back for.
Ehh, I actually agree with the point that was made about the quests. They are exhausting. I've had to go back to the bunker for 3 days now and I can't complete it because I need to kill the boss there and he is dead already every time I get there. The same thing is happening at Ban Pa and Sawmill. I have to keep going back to these locations over and over and I can't complete the quests because other players are there and they are killing the AI. When I FINALLY finish the quest, the next quest tells me to go right back to the same location. I really enjoy the game, but the complaint about quests is 100% valid.
I can see where people wouldn't like it but my complaint was more like why is he surprised that's exactly what they said they were doing? And he doesn't trash tarkov quest line and its essentially the same
Definitely agree with the OP, I totally get that it’s early access, so we will have to see. Since they combined all the factions on one server, everyone and their mom is looking for the base boss to eliminate, or everyone is looking for YBL keys. The game is a blast and can’t wait to see what they update
@@TimmyTactical yeah, the stupid quests to kill Killa 20x comes to mind lmao. He doesn’t even spawn in every raid, and 3/4 of the time that he does, he’s dead before you arrive
Tarkov quests were way worse lol I prefer this over tarkov bs . Before they changed it shooter born in heaven was aids . Surviving in every map without dying is boring . Picking something up and delivering it in another spot is boring lol.
@@TimmyTactical Then only thing tarkov gives a feeling of reward way more than GZW gives you and there's the loot on GZ that I don't care to loose because I can just easy buy again
I've always wanted a channel that reviews and rebukes flawed reviews. The fact that you do that and you're tactical-game focused makes me love your channel so much.
you can cancel healing by right clicking mouse and you press H to quickly use something from your bag without actually opening the inventory and clicking on it
Thanks for giving a proper review, most others I’ve watched just looked at all the negatives and you could tell most of them haven’t played more then 50 hours because they didn’t know of mechanics like cancelling eating, using a surv or something. Earned a sub from me mate
It’s really cool hearing the perspective of a paramedic on the medical systems in the game. I’m extremely critical of the guns in every video game I play because I’ve had a passion for them ever since I was a little kid. I’m constantly disappointed because I realize certain details about them in games that breaks the immersion for me. I’ve always wondered if people get similarly agitated with other aspects of games that more closely pertain to their lifestyle. Like a homicide detective playing L.A. Noire or an astronomer playing No Man’s Sky. Nothing will ever beat Tarkov when it comes to the guns, but for example, if I’m playing a game where your character racks the bolt on his gun even though it wasn’t empty when he reloaded, I’ll put it down and never play it again, even if everything else about the game is 10/10 in every way imaginable. Do you have any quips in games as a paramedic that completely kills all interest? It has to be rough considering the medical aspect of video games has consisted entirely of “health packs” that instantaneously heal all wounds up until like 5 years ago haha.
Being ex infantry the weapons are big for me as well. As far as paramedicine does its just too detailed to ever really have a game that nails it. Up untill a few years ago when I really dove onto arma 3, I didn't give medical in games another thought because I didn't think they would ever have a medical system outside of a health pack lol. Arma 3 opened my eyes with KAT medical, it needs a lot of work in terms of what you treat first and being able to do a systematic approach with it but I found it amazing that you still had to use a medical brain to figure some stuff out ie. It tells you the pt has a tension pneumothorax, you have to know that it's treated with needle decompression so you can select it in your inventory. They even go as far as giving you shockable rhythms on the monitor which is a cool touch however 99% of trauma related arrests are going to be a PEA rhythm lol but I look forward to a game bringing the "medic role" to life and requiring medical skills on a basic level
Unfortunately, you dont fix stuff in community or I assume in the field either. A blown off leg is a blown off leg, you aint fixing that and atm no ones let you use a wheelchair in combat 😂 I actually rather these games leave it to a simple med pack or some sort of time penalty whereby its a hinderance but I can still focus on the action. I mean, if you want realistic medical in games then it would simply be if it bleeds stop it, ship them off to hospital and wait outside in an ambulance for 6 hours + lol
@@TimmyTactical Ye man sorry wasnt meant to offend at all. I dont doubt it, especially being stranded from any facilities out in the field but I meant apart from the extra skills and field surgery its still, and I am over simplifying it here; "stabilising" till evac. Like in a game sense of the way, if a limb is immobilised or blown off there aint no game mechanic thats gunna be realistic where you get miraculously back on your feet and in the action lol Hope that makes sense, not trying to degrade the awesome skills and role of a combat medic, (I am just an "ambulance driver" after all accoring to the public) just would need to be a game in itself, not incorporated into an "action" game. Loved the vid btw 👍
@simonshorty2 I'd personally like to see stuff like if your hit in the chest with a round have a chance at developing a tension pneumothorax or if they are heavy bleeding administer some TXA as well. There's a million little things I'd like to implement to make a medic role be an actual medic role within the patrol
Agree what's urgently needed are a variety of different locations/maps and more varied mission types. Ideally, we need an editor to create our own missions etc. And these new locations are needed soon - otherwise the player count will drastically decline.
The issue with reviews is that creators rush to scratch the surface to make a quick video for that popular game hype and the views and money. If reviewers waited a week or maybe a month for an EARLY ACCESS GAME they could make a much better review to consumers
The recent patch and them saying their big update coming "later thos year" will include day/noght cycle and "more" is extremely disheartening. I dont expect this game to go anywhere but i hope im surprised by next year.
Interesting review because after watching you play the game I tended to have a very different view of what was good and bad. I thought the audio was extremely decent for EA but the visuals could do with a fair bit more work. Especially the character models and animations, the marshmellow bandaging and some destructable components of the environment (at least windows breaking) and improved LoD loading (which may have just been graphical settings). The few things that seemed needing quick improvements was seeing solid examples of dynamic engaging missions rather than story missions to demonstrate replayability, some meaningful differentiation between factions in any form beyond description (I know equipment differences are coming but it needs to show much more than that) and interactivity with the world such as explosions and shots giving some sense of impact on buildings and vehicles. I do agree with a couple of things though. Such as their needs to be more engaging medical interactions and the adjustments to the bird being able to cancel the landing and returning to base. But these can come later on and the general environment that UE5 enables is pretty spectactular. I'm glad you reviewed it though as it gave me the knowledge that I have to continue to wait for more engaging gameplay from this or another title. Keep up the good work.
yah ive been playing it on my busted ass computer and it runs alright but server crashes happen sometimes, super fun game i love running into the town naked and shanking ai and going ground up
Youre the first person to really sum up the additions and changes that are NEEDED, while realizing the base game has the potential like you said to be one of the biggest games in the market for years to come.
Have to agree with your summation, Timmy with regards to the Unreal 5 Engine. RU-vid compression takes away the visuals to some degree compared to actual gameplay. But with over 40 hours in game myself I still find myself commenting "This looks amazing" almost every mission we head out on. Some of the visuals are just stunning. Agree this is going to be the number FPS PVPVE game for quite some time into the future.
The jumping in all real shooters needs to stop. It's so stupid. They should add a mechanic of a percentage chance of the gun being dropped when you jump and shoot. Great review as always
Regarding identifying other players and having to tab etc.. small fix for that just press M and get the mini map up and just glance at it to check, can still also watch the target in that case, sure that will be fixed soon too though
ofc theres bugs coz its a new game in beta but your the first youtuber ive seen who diddnt just say the same stuff and actually seemed to not just rule it out :) respect, ill sub (100% accurate that they needa remove the shooting while jumping)
Despite this game frequently rebooting my PC when I connect to a server, I enjoy it. I've had to wipe my account 3 times due to the headless bug, and finally getting some lvl 2 traders was such a relief. I also figured out settings at least for my PC Ryzen 5900x 3080TI that stops the crash/reboot. All low settings, TSR low, no Nvida low latency, and running it in a windowed mode. Running the game in windowed mode is the tricky part because you have to set the window and then lower the screen resolution. Once this is done, do not touch the resolution again, or it will reset, then use maximize window. If you can see the task bar at the bottom and the top of the window, you have done it right. I have solved all of the issues I've had with this method. I did put it back on windowed borderless to test, and I crashed out 10s into a helo flight. I can't explain why it works, unfortunately. If anyone is having issues with their PC force rebooting when connecting to a server, I would recommend trying this.
Thank you for the time you put into this game and bringing what seems like a fair review and correcting some of the misinformation. Let's see where this game goes!
Thank you brother. Yes there is need for improvement but comparing it to other games in early access or apples with apples some say, then it is far far far ahead of anything else.
@@TimmyTactical i suppose, but for true realism it handles how it does in actuality. Even shooting an M4 standing unsupported, there isn’t much as far as recoil or snappiness goes. Most video games make all assault rifles sound extra mean, when really just short barrel variants and higher calibers like AKs actually bark like they do in video games. and the SAW rips, it’s scary as shit.
Played 25 hrs of GZW Will not recommend to purchase it at this stage 1) The most noticeable problem is that the devs puts way to much effort on visuals, and very little effort on the gameplay. 2) AI bots are either retarded or overpowered. You can be dropped down from a single hit in the foot sole, or receive two mags of 7.62 and still run happily. 3) Quest are absolutely boring, and since there is already a handbook on GZW, you no longer need to read quest assignments, which btw, provide zero sense about the mission. 4) There is literally no loot on the island, apart from consumables. There are weapon and gear crates, med bags in various locations, but since you can buy everything for cheap, looting them makes little sense, as it doesn't give you any combat advantage. 5) Since there is no loot, you do not care about survival, really. Quest items can be placed in secure containers, so you can practically grab them, put in you butt, get shot and quickly respawn to hand those items over. No need to check every bush and corners, no need to rush to the exfil, no need to build a hideout, no crafts, no barters, no nothing. It's just a hot but dumb and boring sister of a Far Cry series. You simple run there, do that and then you have to decide what to do next, to not fall asleep. To those who tend to say bs like "it is an early access, can't expect much right now". Relax, ladies, an early access game does not have to be this bad. To run this game properly (90+ fps stable), you will need an RTX 4090 GPU or equivalent. What else: the menu's buggy, you can not auto-sort your stash, hotkeys are usually not working, no tarkov's workbench alternative to quickly assemble guns, etc., etc. In the end the only really good thing about GZW as of now is graphics. Everything else feels terrible. The dev team has A LOT to do, but if they do not make the game immersive, very few players will keep on playing it, because it offers absolutely nothing new on online fps genre. P.S. ground zero is empty, there is nothing in there, which adds to my negative review
@@TimmyTactical I spent my own, so I guess others considering purchasing GZW have the right to know what they are going to get. The game will be playable no sooner than in six months
@@K4TAKANbro chill, lmao. They’ve already made a list of what they want to add and they cover a lot of your complaints. It’s barely been a week, give it time before you cry so much.
as someone who has used multiple grenades throughout my llife, i can confidently say that they have alot more to offer then a "little flash and puff of smoke"
ok bruh, even after you leave the starting zone its the SAME objectives just dif locations... goto bunker get intel, goto bunker get 20 kills, goto bunker get deta drive, goto bunker kill the boss, goto bunker find the dead person, goto bunker check the objective... EVERY POI even airfield same missions dif locations
What do you expect to do? "Go to the abandoned market of that distant village and make some coffee, then take out the trash and create a grocery list"? lol.. there's not much to do in a war besides killing and getting stuff that u might need
That’s awesome man, the more people that get on board with grey zone the better equipped the developers will be to make it into everything that it could be.
i actually like the quests they get u around and get u to know the map and they are not as annoying as some tarkov quests. i think they are chill and ofc super rewarding.
90 hours player here =) ive lost my char 3 times now, first was level 8, second level was 12 and now yesterday i was level 21 =/ the game is REALLY fun and addiciting, but the unprofessionalism from the team when just asked about some help is just crazy.. i went to their discord to ask about help, and they must have banned me ? cause the channel is gone and the invite says invalid =/ ive actually never been banned before so it took me a week to realize thats prob what happened =(
Let’s not go from one extreme to the other. We can disagree with his criticisms of the game while also acknowledging other parts. The fetch quests ARE annoying. Especially when flights to certain parts of the map can take 20 minutes round trip just to go stand in a pit that you were JUST standing beside for the previous quest
This game honestly looks and plays like a mod for Arma 3 with slightly better graphics and minus the ability to change every aspect of the game. The game doesn't really do anything unique while having all the signs of a cash grab just waiting to be abandoned by the devs, despite my concerns I would like to be pleasantly surprised but I doubt this game will do that.
I wish there was a bit more variation between locations, the terrain changes a bit but you end up seeing the same plants and stuff no matter where you go.
A lot of times i camped LZ unintentionally by just waiting for the helis to land. I think there should also be more available helicopters or to make less players per team at the same time
The biggest thing I just don't know how you really fix (because other games with similar problems have massive difficulty fixing this) is how bad the AI behavior is. They're totally clueless and do nothing that resembles anything that looks normal or "real". Can it be fixed? Maybe.. but it's a long road to fix AI behavior and it's not a certain one.
@@TimmyTactical I agree no one does it perfect. Having said that, There are a few games that come to mind that do it significantly better and they're all (or were all) developed by smaller studios. - Insurgency Sandstorm (Can sometimes have frustratingly perfect aim) - Ready or Not (Same as above) - Arena Breakout Infinite (Been playing the beta and it's far from perfect but still provides some semblance of intelligence) - Tarkov (Again, not perfect but you have to consider how you'll approach them more "tactically") Ready or Not has probably done the most to overhaul this issue but it's taken them well over a year to even implement a new system and there in lies the concern. I really hope it can be fixed, truly. It's just starting from such a bad place it makes it difficult to be optimistic about it.
Bitchin about people bitchin! The points the streamers give are accurate and something the devs need to address. The game wasn't ready for release and should of been baked and tested more. Can you imagine spending $50 on upgrades just to loose them immediately? It's like the devs didn't even think about the impact of issues that the games has or maybe they were taking advantage of a $250 game screw up?
Greyzone warfare is an amazing game to me, it runs awesome on my pc. They need to adjust some things but that’s expected from an early access game. Way more fleshed out then other indie early access tactical games.
Game is phenomenal in Alpha. I'd like to see a couple more helicopters available on PVE servers only because the limit serves no purpose there (aside from server performance maybe). Having a blast playing it and the devs are putting out regular patches addressing the most critical issues.
They should be able to add fast travel points. Or other forms of travel to different LZs or to base. The community briefing video that dropped today. They are aware of the main issues that people are having and are looking into improving it along with a lot of hot fixes and optimization fixes.
Yes!!! ACE medical for ARMA is a perfect example of how to simulate combat medicine. Add more weapon choices, vehicles and roving patrols abd your in the money. Server wide events to focus PVP encounters wouldn't be a bad idea either
@@TimmyTactical I'm just an OG gamer who spent a few years in the Army Infantry my man. I've seen what works and I've seen massive failures. This could easily turn into Warzone if the devs aren't careful but I like where it's going so far
all the other streamers were so quick to be negative that ive seen talking about a game in Alpha stages , this is a much better take so thank you , its gonna be buggy at first i think this game has so much potential , so many whiner babies on milsims
Everything I wanted EFT to evolve into, Gray Zone starts with. EFT has struggled for so long on various things but the key problem with EFT is its foundation. And THAT is why I think Gray Zone, at the very least, has a better chance solely because it is fundamentally structured better compared to EFT. The other guy reviewing this game doesn't actually know what this game is about. It's almost as if he was describing and expecting CoD lvl of customization with the same gameplay speed of EFT. His review is so bad, it feels more like a troll review than something of legitimate value. It's like he didn't like one aspect of the game so he jumped straight to the conclusionn that the game as a whole is just bad...
thank you for your review. I had a feeling everyone was just spewing bs and yes its early acces, idk why ppl are expecting loads of content LMFAO but thank you! I am now going to purchase this game.
There is a tonne of bugs atm that need to be fixed asap, mainly server issues and optimisations. Make sure you have a beefy PC and research the settings
@@TimmyTactical yeah but thats gonna be every game ( at least I keep tht mentality) especially when u KNOW its a early access game. I get it tho, common sense aint so common
I love the part where "the aiming feels so crisp and responsive" as he's putting legit 4 rounds of .556 into the guys head without him dying. Sure you can aim, but will your bullets ever register?
Agree except for the point about grenades. Ive thrown grenades. I promise you it's louder and bigger than you would ever expect to see. Standing that close you would be dead from the concussion alone
Bro I've thrown hundreds of grenades throughout my career and I've rolled them over the bunker 3m away yes the bang and percussion is wild but visually it's a small flash and a puff of smoke
It’s about being the first person to post a review so they can be first in the search engines - it’s not about thorough reviewing lol, it’s about making more money because you posted a controversial headline on your YT after 1 hour of gameplay.
Might be the new Arma, but that's a tall order, considering how much details Arma 3 has People are still waiting for Arma 4 with Unreal Engine 4 or 5 It would probably run at 20 fps for next 10 years, but I am sure people would still play it
These creators really need to do their research before spreading misinformation. If it wasn’t that it was completely missing the point of the game, for example when needing to identify what you are shooting (omg so hard).
apart from crashing/disconnecting every second raid ive been enjoying this heaps strictly pve so i dont have to worry about idiots Tk-ing allthought there are plenty of idiots on pve that will mag dump you the second they see you i really enjoy what they have given so far
We need colored Armbands for factions just like they use in real life war right now. If every faction has a colored Armband there wouldnt be as much friendly fire incidents and you could shoot without checking the Map first.
I mean the quest take forever to get outside the village though, I put in 20 hours (some helping new friends) and I've personally done like 30 and still I am in the main village. It drags a bit.
After ~30 hours or so i hate the Chopper mechanic. Playing as Crimson when i need to quest in Ban pa or so (lz india 1 & 2) i wait 45s for Chopper to appear if i got lucky and they are not busy. Then you sit in the Chopper for 4 Minutes with way too loud sounds. Thankfully i can Mute game Sound on my stream deck with just the click of a Button but not everyone got this comfort. Want to extract from there? Wait 4:45m for Chopper. Got killed by that random bot headshotting you through 4 Walls from 80m shortly after Landing? Equip all your stuff and then go again for that boring nearly 5min flight. It gehts worse while completing the tasks. Wait 45s for Chopper, fly 4min, kill 20pmc, wait 4m45s for extract Chopper, fly 4min back to base, Hand in task, get new task in same area, wait 45s for Chopper, fly back into same area for 4min... Wtf. Its 10minutes pure wasted flight time! When choppers are busy you even have to wait a lot longer. ,Its So much lost lifetime. Just stupid. Same as tarkov where we got more and more time needed to be spend in menus between raids to deal with overcomplicated unnecessary shit like 50 Different Ammo types while 48 of them are useless or drinking and eating between raids etc. I want gameplay. I dont want to sit in menus or choppers for hours instead of playing the actual game. I understand that it is important for PVP that you cannot respawn instant next to your dead body. Maybe just disable the last used landing zone or give it a 5min timer to prevent this. Maybe add more landing zones around the areas and make them separate for each faction. But there needs to be a solution! Speed up Choppers a lot! flight time should be as short as possible because it becomes annoying pretty fast and its a loss of lifetime. Especially in the beginning. The Problem with overcrowded beginners regions is even worse than in tarkov. Need to kill 20 people in that shooting range Region? Good luck to find any because there are like 6 or 7 questlines in that area and every 2 Minutes a Chopper with some guys from one of the factions is coming in while the npcs only respawn every 15 minutes. You can try to do Tasks in a Region where no one of your own faction is. But if you get unlucky then there are 6 guys from the 2 other factions clearing that area. With todays state i would not play after a wipe. I would wait at least 2 weeks before getting into it so that the majority of players has advanced from the starting areas and i dont waste my lifetime wandering around cleared out areas full of dead npc bodies. I would not recommend to buy the game now. Not even the cheapest version. I recommend to wait and watch how the devs adress the major negative things in the next 6 months or so.
ive got 40ish hours in since launch and i absolutely love it. does it need work? absolutely. but its still launch week. for what we have and what they're doing, its incredible. as long as they keep listening to the community and keeping the game updated with content it will absolutely be one of the best games on the market and could easily kill tarkov. i love the game because i see the potential in it. and it brings the community of CASUAL PLAYERS that can play pve, meet cool people make friends. just hop on and have a good time not worrying about cheaters or people who dont get enough sunlight. great review
He said we couldnt stop healing animations like in tarkov he shouldnt be healing when threats are 10 feet away thats his fault. Great review timmy its an honest review i bought the supporter edition. Its gonna be hard to beat an open world extraction tactical shooter. This game has literally put the joy of gaming back in me.
Dude's just crying over a beta test not having completed game content or his lack of experience in looter shooters. This is a fair and well put together review
Great review, thank you. Special thanks for addressing the bs review from other streamers who are afraid that people will abandon the garbage they are playing in favor of GZW which it's early release is superior to where Tarkov was a few years back and stuck in beta for a decade since then....
It’s pretty fun. But the content creators are hyping this game up big time. The helicopter landing zones are a joke. People camp those spots 24/7. I probably died in those landing zones 50x
They have already said they will be changing the LZs to be roaming instead of static, untill then you just have to use common sense and go to a different LZ lol
As a person who’s thrown a few grenades irl…. I think the nades need a little more boom 💥 other than that it’s a solid ass game, feels like I’m back in the army
