The Truth About Hurricanes in Alabama 

Fairhope and Spanish Fort have just popped up on my radar for repatriation after 20 years abroad. Previously, I was looking at Plano, Texas.

Holy cow! Gulf Shores is right on the Coast 🤦‍♂ I'm looking to retire in S. Ala. hopefully next year, so I started looking for a place close enough for a day trip to the coast, and yet far enough away from the coast, to avoid direct hits from a hurricane. Looking at the Dothan area and that latitude line, where I could use the Florida Panhandle as a block from any direct impact of a potential hurricane! I think the "thumb" of Fla. steers most Atlantic/Gulf hurricanes towards Tx./La./Ms. where Ala. seems to be more protected by Florida.
