oh, my British children: Xi'an is also famous for being mispronounced. There's no "sh" sound. It's not She-an. Just say an "s" with a slight exhale before the "s." It should be transliterated as Hsi-an. Try it, it's easy. You can do it! Just "hs," not "sh," not "hsh".....just "Hsi-an."

My hometown is in a province next to Xi'an Shanxi, many Muslims live here for thousand years. We have more than one mosque and most local restaurant in my city is run by Muslims, it just part of our life. So it's totally shocked when we heard that western media said China baned Muslims...now we finally understand they said that because they just can not understand people have different religions can be friends or family, but it is normal in China since ancient times. As you know, Xi'an was the capital of the Tang Dynasty. The Tang Dynasty was one of the most powerful countries in the world at that time, and many foreigners would come to Xi'an to do business or travel. They would also wear the clothes of the time and visit the streets of Xi'an. After you put on the costumes of the Tang Dynasty, it is basically equivalent to following the ancient Westerners over a thousand years ago, traveling back to the prosperous Tang Dynasty and exploring the city of Xi'an. I think this is a very dreamy feeling

Fun fact: The oldest mosque in China is the Abi Waqqas Mosque in Guangzhou, on China’s east coast. It was built in 627 AD by one of the envoys (and uncle) of Muhammad himself. He traveled to China across the Indian Ocean instead of over land via the Silk Road, that’s why his mosque is on the east coast of China. China has had a history with Islam since pretty much Day 1.

The train ticket price from Chengdu to Xi'an or from Xi'an to Chengdu is 263 yuan (whether it is a high-speed train or a high-speed train), because in history, during the Three Kingdoms period, the downfall of Shu Han occurred in 263 AD. The Prime Minister of Shu Han, Zhuge Liang, once wrote a proposal to the monarch titled "Departure from the Imperial Academy", which includes a sentence: "Revitalizing the Han Dynasty, returning to the old capital, Chengdu So our ticket prices are to commemorate the history of Shu Han is worth mentioning as a romantic historical site exclusively for the Chinese people."~

@WanderingStreet 3 месяца назад
Bro, there are a few mistakes here. The Hui people are not Han people. The Hui are a minority ethnic group in China. The origins of the Hui people can be traced back to Central Asian groups(and Arabs) who came to China during the Tang Dynasty . After several centuries, they merged with the local Chinese population to form a new ethnic group. The ancestors of the Hui people believed in Islam, while the Hui people themselves follow various branches of Islam, including Sufism, Hamediyya, and Zenbiyya. Although they all believe in Islam, the Hui have more diverse religious practices and customs.

Xi'an is the throne of the China's First Emperor Qin Shi Huang and hence the capital of the Qin Dynasty. What is more amazing is that if you look at a map Xi'an sits directly in the center of the country and hence the "Middle Kingdom" before airplanes and satellites they were able to determine this over 2000+ years ago ! The Terra Cotta Warriors is simply only a small part of the First Emperor's necropolis. The main tomb has still not been excavated yet as the necropolis stretches over 20sq kilometers.

It's quite normal to pay 500-1000 yuan deposit for one piece of the Hanfu dress, it depends on the materal and the way of making it, for example some hand-made Hanfu dresses could be very expensive, some could worth more than ten thousand of American dollars, but again it depens on the material and the way of making. So I guess they just requested you pay minimum deposit, two pieces of Hanfu for 1000 deposit, maybe they just trust in you won't damage their clothes.

I almost always order 杨枝甘露 'Mango Pomelo Sago' every time I go to Mixue. I highly recommend that you try it too. By the way, having fun in China! In fact, every major city has its own character, and Xi'an's is a confidence in its culture. There have been news reports in recent years saying that building a subway in Xi'an is a troublesome affair, because construction often uncovers burial sites that are thousands of years old. Whenever this happens, the subway construction team has to pause and let museum staff take over their work. The people of Xi'an have a strong love for their city's culture, which in fact is a microcosm of the Chinese people.

Well as a chinese im shocked that western countries are saying we are discriminate Muslim🤔. The biggest reason is that every university in china has two kinds of restaurant. One is normal and one is muslimism, and in city if a restaurant is muslimism then it will not be checked on food hygiene, which even made a funny and popular slang in china: first-class citizen is foreigner, second-class citizen is muslim, third-class citizen is han🤣. Its true actually in some way. like me, Im not a muslim but a minority ---- dong nationality, i can get extra more 10 point in every entrance exam,just because im minority, if i were in tibet/xinjiang/ningxia/guangxi and other ethnic enclaves, i could get extra 20 point by doing nothing, but my han classmates can get nothing extra. although i have to use vpn to see youtube, twitter and you know ... PORNS🤣, and after Xi came into power, the speech control does get more serious. i think china is good. i love china, so i know the real shortcomings of china. Well pros and cons. i dont want all you guys like china, but i think its neccessary that you guys should know the REAL china. in chinese internet, therei s a slang as "黑都黑不到点上" means "shame that you cant even disparage someone on the right point". i think its the situation in which the western medias are.

I'm Chinese.I believe that it's a good policy to have the great firewall, because there are too much fake news and spiteful misleading information on western Internet(e.g. XinJiang lies), which are deliberately created by western medias and agencies like CIA so as to sabotage the development of China. They conspiratorially create those pieces of spiteful misleading information with the intention of creating conflicts among Chinese people and between Chinese people and Chinese government, and distract Chinese people from building our country. As China is not a hegemony of propaganda, we have to build a firewall to protect us. Actually, using VPNs is tacitly allowed in China, which is also a clever policy, because those who can't master the skills of using VPNs are more likely to lack good education and lack the ability of distinguishing fake information.
