I had 4 cats at the same time about 20 years ago , there wasn’t fighting at all , all was going well except for bed time , yes my cats was sleeping in my bed , there was some hissing from time to time because one cat wanted to that exact corner of the bed , they where sleeping each on a corner, in winter they was sleeping under 2 layers of bed sheets, yes I’m up north in Quebec living in a 200 years old house with the only heating from antique wood stove , so on very cold nights when the wood stove didn’t produce heat to go up by the large diamond plate it was freezing up there …

Yes, I know quite well how warm cats bodies are, like little hot water bottles! What I showed on the video of them swiping each other is the most violent thing they do. They aren't buddies, they spend zero time together, nor can they both sleep in our bed at the same time because Jack is way too jealous to leave Maxie alone. He has to be the center of attention. It's been 8 yrs since Jack has been here, so this behavior will never change. Thanks for participating in the chat!

oooh my 2 cats are basically like this ❤😁 Not best friends, the occasional playtime from the youngest that the older does not want to participate in, some hissing, but then they have random cuddle sessions and overall I would say it's going fine and gives them more activity and focuspoints through the days :) the younger have slowly gotten more and more calm in his demeanor which def help haha

Great to hear! I think my problem is that my older cat who just turned 19 is not friendly towards the younger one and so when he approaches her she hisses loudly and he likes the reaction, so he keeps doing it. Because if he's not in the mood, they can lay down on the bed together without issue! Oh well. If I were to bring another cat into my house, I would do it in pairs. (Two siblings) Much easier to deal with.
