100% , it’s very frustrating especially because Hungary is so theory focused so when you reach the subjects that are not really relevant, it’s difficult to see the end of the tunnel.

Quite a few of the Erasmus students we get here in the general medicine program seem to fine. Often times they have less classes than us because they have a slightly different curriculum and only need some of our classes to stay on track within their program. I can’t say much more though unfortunately as I’m speaking from an outsiders perspective.

Hey, thank you for reaching out. I did not do research into Romania when applying to med schools so unfortunately I don’t know much about Romania. I looked into Hungary, Poland and Czech Republic. I’m not sure if that percentage is exactly correct but a lot of people do end up repeating a year here. The system is really challenging BUT, I believe that if you proactive and work efficiently during the semester, there is no reason why you cannot stay on track. I would say most people join straight out of high school or after 1 year of a pre-med course. There are some who have a previous bachelors degree but they are definitely in the minority. Good luck with everything! 😃

Yeah, it has its own charm. Every place has its positives and negatives. At the end of the day I will always be grateful to Hungary for being given the opportunity to study medicine.

Hey, you do not need Hungarian to get around as you can make yourself understood in most places in the city. The English is definitely growing in influence in the city. We do have some Hungarian classes in the University though.

@@thembahopelubisi8174 I am lucky to have a Greek passport on top of my South African passport and there is a Hungarian-based company that provides loans to EU citizens. Unfortunately this isn’t available for non-EU citizens as of now but I hope it changes.
