In this video, explain why retail arbitrage on Amazon FBA is a risky and time-consuming side hustle for beginners. I'll cover the challenges involved, including low profit margins, price tanking and Amazon returns. I'll provide a few other better options to get started that are way better side hustles than retail arbitrage imo.

You’re a real one for making this video. I’ve constantly had this issue when I was selling on Amazon fba and that’s what would lead me to do it less and less until I finally stopped. The beginners really don’t know that the price tanks on all the products in the beginning and think that they are going to be making bigger profits when that’s not always the case. Great video. 🤙

Learned a lot from this! I do a lot of eBay to amazon as well, the only RA I do is thrifting, I could definitely enjoy having a list of items to look for locally, never really got into that.

I get an employee discount at a chain and then I realized it only is profitable for me to flip things like a half off - plus employee discount - off a Ralph Lauren lamp for example - but it takes $$$ to sit on it - I’ve sold several on eBay for $250-$300 new and $86-$125 used / damaged but I had to invest $50-$106 per lamp depending on the size/condition and that’s not something I recommend doing if you don’t have extra funds to do that - and I sell maybe 3 or 4 lamps a month - NICE profit - but it’s not instant usually - and even when it’s fast the shipping and packing is pretty intense. I have them pay for shipping but it’s an intensive experience to make sure it gets there undamaged. THANK YOU FOR THE VID. I subbed. And your info is super helpful. I’ve also sold the viral food stools and a couple viral things but I could never make a living on this - as an employee I see how arbitrary the prices are and the sales are only amazing maybe the rare 5% of the time to make it worth it. I have seasonal stock that will sit another year and only sell because of scarcity. I so prefer doing majority THRIFTING reselling and try to get the best prices 💪🏼 and for new things we try to hand make small furniture and small home accents etc - trying to keep things wide so we can save up for our future together - and flipping and reselling I’m learning requires a ton of work but it’s worth it to not give up and really try it

I wish I can tag my bro in this… so many people bashing it and bro is making 10k a month in profit doing this.. sadly most people ether start and give up after the first 4months like rome was built in a day.. then others constantly make bad choices on products because they don’t understand the process and last.. they are not dedicated. This is not a get Rich quick.. it’s Supply and demand, Buy low and sell high. 😂😂 the oldest buisiness model in the book. How could it not work

Yeah its an availability thing. Often times a lot of these stores get the same things. People buy more than they can afford to sit on and the only lever they have to make it sell faster is to lower the price. What you do is protected by scarcity, but also costs more so there's a barrier to entry vs a 20 dollar item at ross. Always love your vids zach all the best. Because of you I've added a second stream of income. Cheers

You nailed it! I prefer to flip stuff onto eBay. But I need to start hitting garage sales. I also need to pay more attention to marketplace and offer up. One thing I’ve done on FBA is, knowing that an item was out of production, I kept my price up until everyone else had sold out at the lower price and then bumped mine up slightly. Yeah I had the inventory for like 6 months longer but kept the return on my investment.

I go in checking for specific things so I am in and out. For example, Marshall's has Rae Dunn coffee mugs for $2 on clearance so I went in and grabbed them all. I walked past other sections but didn't waste a lot of time. I also don't understand how people do shoes. They remove the origianl tags so I don't know how you identify them and pull data.

I do like the info of the video but also you have Seller AMP an other options to be able to gauge the sells of the item. You also can see past sales an info for items that particular item could have had an inflated price because their wasn’t as many people selling an then went back to its original price. Fba is definitely not for everyone but you definitely can make good money if you run it like a business instead of a the fastest way to make a quick buck. But it’s different for everyone

I do wholesale on Amazon. Lol I actually was going to start doing RA again too this week just to get higher ROI. It seems like times have changed though. I have been doing exclusively wholesale on Amazon since 2020. I was looking back at my RA accounting data from 2019 and 2020, and my ROI from Walmart was close to 80% to 100%. However based on this video it seems like that no longer is the case. I love wholesale, but I was going to do RA to get even more money to invest in wholesale. Yes I already have business loans. It looks like selling used items on eBay will get me the ROI I’m looking for. I still may try Walmart for RA though just to see.

I got a question like when you do retail arbitrage do with fba do you have to create a listing like you would do on ebay and have to wait for a person to buy it or would you just sent the product in to amazon, get payment, and not have to worry about the item selling. Is it a sure thing that you will get that money that amazon is listing or do you have to wait for someone to buy it and then get the money. I have a problem with getting items to sell on ebay
@zachrosas

Hey so I’m looking into reselling, but just part time (for now anyway). I’m like a blank slate- I don’t have a product or a niche I know a whole lot about nor do I have a ton of capital. Any tips for true beginners with no previous knowledge? RA seemed like a good starting learning point just to learn the processes? Also, the things you pick up at garage sells, are you selling used on amazon? This is getting really overwhelming haha. Also I just realized I’m on my husbands acct.

You can do RA effectively still in 2024. This video highlights some of the issues that beginners will run into and sounds great to people, but there are obvious work arounds to a lot of the issues brought up in this video. For instance when it comes to price tanking, your item never really goes to 0 value. You still hold the item and you should be using 3rd party tools to verify amazon data so you're not picking up items that literally never move (The only way an item would hold 0 value, like the video implies). Yes stores get items in waves and 4 days later the price tanked, it doesn't show that once those stores liquidated the influx of items the price shot back up 3 weeks later and still got a higher roi for the items than if you did much else with the money. Even in worst case scenarios an item never goes to 0. There are plenty of ways to liquidate. Yes if you legit have only like $500 you're better off thrifting for used diamonds in the roughs to get a working capital up so you can not be desperate for every single item return, but once you get to the 2-4k mark in working capital you can make any model in Amazon work. It's just a business and every model has pros and cons and the good people who make it work figure out the best workarounds for the cons more often than not.
@chrishustles94

You should make a video about the truth of cook groups (leads groups) no different than retail arbitrage, prices get tanked, and the only ones making money are the ones running the group.
@BeatsModeMusic
@BeatsModeMusic Год назад
Personally if you only have a couple hundred dollars I don’t think you should look at FBA anyways. Once you have enough inventory Everything sells in rotation and you can be patient if price tanks til it goes back up. It’s really matter of how fast you want your return. FBA is def not the place for quick flips. Though sometimes items do sell fast. Also, you can actually find a lot of profitable items over 100% ROI. And if you do enough RA, you can find replenish-able products you can keep sending over and over again. What I’m trying to say is you suck at RA. Jk lol
@zachrosas

Aware lol, vid was just about these stores specifically which are hit or miss. But yeah agree beginners should probably not start with FBA either way.
