@@darrielkelly5075 360? That game was also released on PS3 and PC. Heck you could still buy that game on Steam right now. If you own Xbox or PC then you could still play that game on their modern systems but if you own Switch or PS4/PS5 then you will never get to play that game ever again for the rest of your life as you could no longer access the PS3 store and Nintendo never got that game.

It'd be like if the Battle Network collection from a little while back omitted BN4. ""We know it's trash, but it's our trash. Let us have it."
Sparkster Genesis maybe missing the energy sword attack, but if you collect the seven hidden swords you can become gold Sparkster. It's like getting Super Sonic.
I only played the first one with my brother. Brings back good memories. Glad the compilation exists and you think it’s worth picking up. Thanks for the video on it.
Sparkster: RKA2 is an amazing game, feels different, sure but better IMO. The music was also vastly better. Having the rocket boost always being at the ready without holding down the button was a nice trade off from losing the distance attack, allowed for more intimate combat flow. The SNES Sparkster was extremely poor by comparison.
All things considered, Super Nintendo Sparkster feels like the sequel RKA deserved. I managed to get all three cartridges long ago, though am kinda tempted to download Re-Sparked.
I flipped when I saw this got released. I rented Rocket Knight Adventure all the time from Block Buster when I was a kid. I bought the game a couple years ago at Game Over Video Games here in Austin. I'm 100% buying this compellation.
I love rocket knight. I got it in the bargain bin at Walmart as a kid and was delighted it was so good when I got it home. I wanna know what the shirt looks like that you could send out for.
As a kid we had Video Central as out local rent store inside our grocery’s store. They had a SNK multi arcade machine that I always played Samurai Shodown on and then rent out NES games for the week.
Didn't have the knowledge to know there was a sequel. Or a 2nd one on SNES. Would like a save mode and a classic mode... unlimited continues and game how it's supposed to be og format. Be great.

Thank you for this video. I've been humming and ha-ing about buying this game today or waiting for a sale ($45AUD for an old game is a bit steep imo). I had the original RKA and Sparkster back on the day on my Sega Megadrive and I ADORED them both. Yes they are very different games but I loved them both. I never played the SNES version, but seeing you play it and enjoy it so much has made me eager to try it. Honestly I'm still torn as the price is so high. I will try to wait for a sale but I might weaken. I still have the BGM from the second world stuck in my head...
When I was a toddler.. Or at least a young kid. My parents will go into Home Depot or Lowe's.. they had a daycare center My parents would drop me off there..while they were shopping. They had video games setup in the daycare . One of these games was rocket Knight. Loved it . Can't wait to play it again.
Thanks for the review! I am right there with you when I was a kid: I played the first and fell in love with it, but missed the other two. Just watching the other two games elsewhere made me suspect I'd still adore the first one most and your review is only reinforcing that. Not sure why, but when you said boss rush mode it reminded me of a 2d game that had the toughest boss rush mode I used to love. My question to all the game developers is when are they going to port or remake VIEWTIFUL JOE???
SNES Sparkster is good. Just expect to use the shoulder buttons in the music level to avoid any softlocks, and the rewind function on the shoot-em-up boss.
I just got the Genesis collection on Switch, along with the Genesis emulation expansion for Switch Online a couple of months ago, and I was shocked to see that Rocket Knight Adventures wasn't on either Glad to know this exists now
I’m looking forward to this collection as I actually own Rocket Knight Adventures for my Mega Drive so I get to play the SNES versions. I hope this gets a physical release for Switch.

I am getting my copy from LRG soon. I got an email saying my copy is supposed to be at the warehouse by June, around July I will have this sweet, physical cartridge in my possession. Plus been dying to trying these games for so long, now I get my chance.
I also grew up with Rocket Knight Adventures. I usually want newer versions of retro games, I knew this one was quite high on my list. A little disappointed this collection not on Xbox. I still need to get Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection soon. I waited probably longer than TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection for this collection no joke. Sadly that's the last one from my childhood I wanted. It's a whole new ball game from here.
Loved this game as i kid. I played MegaDrive and Snes versions, i think i prefered the Snes version. I'm trying to get this on the SNES. But i will be defo be getting this on the Swtich.
this a insult for game. sparkster md is very smialr to sonic 3 and knucels its almost feels squelts to those games. rocket knights feels like sonic 1. sparkster md in all things superior to sonic 2. its like sonic 3 and knucles lock on experience in one game card. music score longer complex leves. harder bosses. golden sparkster. no distance shot smilar to sonic spin you fight closer sword attack. smilar levels like pyramids and air base its the only game come closer to sonic 3 and knucles. but game have one things many people miss game content full on hard diffuclt. on normal and easy game missing alot. levelts 2 stages instead of 3 and boss dont have second phases. no goldern sparster. no true ending. this things only in hard. if you play normal and easy yes sonic 2 and rocket knight feels longer and better experience. first stage espicaly on normal and easy cant show the game. its longer and complex than sonic 2 and first rocket knight on compalte package and thats only be find sonic 3 and kncules 2 game combine experience no else md game forget abotu frist rocket knight no md game .
I only just started playing them yesterday but I totally agree with you. Sparkster genesis has a lot of fluff that drags the pace down. Sparkster snes seems a lot better but still seems a bit more fluffed up and less finetuned in terms of pacing and gameplay. Rocket knight however is amazing, still today even. I never got to play it back in the day, mind you, this is the first time.
Rocket Knight Adventures is one and done, because the sequels (including the PS3/X360 game) was not made by the same team who made the first game (Spatkster SNES, for example, was made by the team who made Axelay). That why the games feel diferent from the original (the SNES game feels like "RKA Remix").
I remember emulating the Sega Genesis Sparkster sequel years ago - it was jarringly less fluid than the original Rocket Knight. I never wanted to touch it again. That's what the XBox Arcade remake felt like. I only heard the SNES version was slightly better, but it still doesn't come near the first RKA title. Graphics aside, the RKA just had the right physics in play.
I appreciate the graphics of the second game but yeah that section with all the switches had me stuck for a while. I felt like it was a Sonic Barrel but the whole level. It’s cool though I dig these games. Want to try the SNES one
I know people who think 30$ is overpriced, and while I do think it is to a degree, I don’t think it’s AS overpriced as they say, even with other, cheaper compilations. 30$ for three fun games, an art book, a music player, a rewind feature and a boss rush is still a decent prIce IMO, even if it could be cheaper.
Rocket knight was tough. I loved it but don't think I ever beat it. Mix of memorization and having to start all over if you failed made it tough to beat. Was decent length of gameplay which didn't help the ease of play
I will be getting this game looks really good and fun never played this game before can't believe never heard of this game growing up had so many games on super nes and genesis guess they didn't market it very well in my area back then
downloading it as we speak, but on STEAM since...well, i am not ashamed to say it, it was cheaper, much cheaper on steam for me, i am so excited to start it, 2.2gb is not that much, i can't wait to replay one of my fave genesis games.
