Back when new Amsterdam started to get English dutch people celebrated Sinterklaas but only the English people couldn't pronounce it like the Dutch do, it sounded like Santa Claus instead of Sinterklaas, and Sinterklaas was a bishop like the pope dressed today. So actually you need to pronounce it like Saint Nicolas and not Santa claus, but history cannot be changed.

You should have told the story of why Santa Claus is based of him. Well for those curious basically there was a lot of poor people who couldn’t afford the dowry (marriage gift) and Saint Nicholas snuck into their homes and threw sacks of gold coins into their stockings. There is a lot of other stories about him I think you should read as well. and what I told is a simple version you can probably find a more detailed or better one if you look it up.

As Christian as he was, we must know that he was a servant of God and as a servant we should not idolize him, if he followed Christ, he would not want us too see him more than a man.
I needed to here this today. I have not been in the holiday spirit. I know this day is said to be for the birth of our Lord and savior,but the media and corporate has made it about Santa.
Very wrong, Santa is a mix of Odin and st Nicholas with the look being of Odin and the Christmas tree is fully pagan. Christmas was originally a pagan holiday known as yuletide but the Catholic church wanted to push out paganism and took over their holidays and washed out a lot of their meaning and mixed in other parts of their culture. So all of these christian holidays are more pagan than Christian and I know a lot of Christians who won't celebrate them because of that. Ok? Well were talking about saint Nicholas the OG “santa” and he was a real person and is a saint. Saint nicholas day is dec 6. He was known to give money to the poor and put it in their stockings that hung to dry. He would throw bags of money down peoples chimneys. Thats how the tradition of associating gifts with him started and the stockings and chimney traditon. Saint Nicholas is very important to many Christians and is the patron saint of many cities and people no need to disparage us
@@Arginnenot trying to disparage anyone celebrate how you want it doesn't bother me but it's annoying when something is claimed to be fully Christian when it's nowhere near, if you look into it you will learn that Christmas is 90% pagan and most of the meaning and history was just changed by the church and yes even Santa is mostly pagan with a few small changes based on Saint Nick. There is definitely Christian influence in Christmas but it is what it is I'm not trying to put anyone down or argue or anything just spreading some knowledge and Truth
A lot of people say santa isn't real because they don't get presents. i think it's just because they don't belive in the holy spirit and completely forgot that christmas isn't about gifts, it's about Jesus. Jesus died on the cross for us an december 25th is a holiday to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Consists solely of comprising Christians to celebrate the Saturnalia (And maybe even a mix of both) It is most likely Christmas came from comprising Christian’s celebrating the Saturnalia because it is confirmed by Tertullian, a Roman Catholic theologian who lived around the same time. “The Saturnalia, the feasts of January, the Brumalia, and Matronalia are now frequented; gifts are carried to and fro, new year’s day presents are made with din, and banquets are celebrated with uproar; oh, how much more faithful are the heathen (people that believe in other power) to their religion, who take special care to adopt no solemnity from the Christians” (Tertullian in De Idolatria, quoted by Hislop, p. 93). Here we see the Pagans were still faithful then the unfaithful Christians took their tradition yet the pagans remained faithful to theirs. Christmas is the intermixing of culture and the copy of paganism, which the Bible strictly prohibits by intermixing of worship, which the Bible speaks against, it has created Christmas. Recognize how saturnalia is also about the birth of something, Ra, the sun god, Christmas and even worst celebrating Jesus’s birth at this date was born by this unfaithful intermixing of culture, like Christmas trees, mistletoes, presents, and wreaths. Do not be afraid of them, for they cannot do evil, neither is it in them to do good.” ------------------------ We have no biblical reason to celebrate Jesus’s birth in a false comprising Christian custom, let alone just one day, and the day in which the Bible speaks against of its origins, which are very important, and know that God has put everything we need to know and celebrate in the Bible, and there are reasons not told to celebrate his birth primarily in one day, which none of God’s holy days have. It’s not just the how much power or significance you give it, it’s just in the Bible to not do it. Not deniable. And if we ever triumphed over pagans in a sense we adopt their tradition the Bible says not too. And other completely secular Hollidays have nothing to do with Jesus, yet in everything we do, it should be for and about Jesus, so you do you believe celebrating Valentine’s Day is giving grace, glory, service, and work to Jesus? With pagan holidays such as the others I talked of it’s just something that we should avoid.
Amen!...please make sure that one of the most important things to also believe in, is the Holy Spirit!...Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and Jesus! When Jesus went back to heaven, he left the Holy Spirit for us to guide us.
