My mom is a graphic designer and Temu stole some of her work and began mass producing it. We found out about it recently. She sent a cease and desist letter to them, but they ignored it so I’m not sure what she’s gonna do next. Update: Temu eventually did reply and they apologized and took down the dress that had my moms pattern on it, so we didn’t need to take any legal action. However, Temu liked the design and wanted to buy rights to use it for a year. I can’t remember how much they wanted to buy it for, but she did let them buy rights for a year. If they want to keep using it once the year is over, then they will have to buy it again. That’s basically what happened. Sorry I didn’t put an update sooner, this happened awhile ago.
Pretty sure they do actually.... Another reviewer went over this pretty recently (forget his channels name though). He basically said the same as this guy, and that they make a lot of their money through invasive spying methods through their app and even the ads. Basically selling off our info in exchange for their "cheap" prices. All the way down to their reviews on the app store, it's all fake and too good to be true. They definitely have paid actors and paid reviews all over to make it seem legitimate but as we should all know by now... It's clearly not.
Awesome work, Nathan! I was always curious about Temu. I always wanted to go on an ordering spree because the prices are so low, but I felt that there was something not quite right about it! Just like the old saying goes "if something is too good to be true it probably is!"
my friend asked me to download temu bc she just needed one more person to download the app to get free stuff, and looking back on it, it felt like a pyramid scheme
In the USA there is a law that they need to ask permission for data tracking and things of that sort and judging by the fact it was #1 on the app store at some point I would expect they looked for that.
Pinduoduo exploited a vulnerability in android os that allowed it to bypass those permission measures and gather all the info they wanted. Temu, on the other hand, is reportedly less aggressive with their data tracking but all it takes is one vulnerability and one app update and they can have access to as much data as they want. I wouldn’t put that much trust in a company with a tainted reputation.
Recently i wanted to check out what all the "Hype" was about temu and how the stuff is so cheap and i was shocked how cheap they were i found a really pretty swimsuit and when i asked my dad to buy it he went through the countries to ship to and he didn't find the countries we were in aswell as a lot more smaller countries...
And also the child and forced labour allegations. How do you think they make products so cheap - its IMPOSSIBLE to pay workers minimum wage (let alone living wage) and make profit. Seeing its success means there's obviously something going on.
Have you guys ordered anything off of temu. Everything that I've ordered off of there has been exactly what I was expecting at an incredible price. A couple of the children's clothes that I ordered off of there were too small comparative to the normal sizes at that number. I wanted to send those items back and get a refund. Upon requesting the refund they told me to just keep the stuff and then refunded the money to my account. From my account I am allowed to put it back into my bank but it was only like $12 so I went ahead and reinvested into some different stuff.
@@kingzingo1784Are they spying on me through the fake nails, plastic slippers, denim skirt, kitchen ware I bought? A charger chord on Temu is about $3.00. In a local store, the cheapest brand is $15.00. Where do you think Im going to buy it?
This guy is really helpful. I have a lot on my phone that I want to keep to myself and this guy seems to be the only one highlighting the issues with temu
@@Blahblah.44racist, what's the difference between an american company tracking your location and a chinese company tracking your location. both are not ok
@@levzeditz american companies are more trustworthy, its the truth and you can't deny it, and if you do, then you're just lying to yourself and others buddy. good day now 😃
My mom literally told me to get the app but I used the website to look at it and it kept recommending furry stuff to me 💀 Off subject but I got a weird feelin while using it. And I’m a very intuitive person.
Temu free shipping:Amazon begs u to pay for it to be delivered fast: Temu ships packages faster: Amazon takes to long :Temu has fake stuff Amazon:has fake tuff so Temu wins
it doesn't tho. i mean, it shared data, but facebook, insta, twitter, and all other social media apps do that. tt doesn't do anything temu/shein does, though.
@@localcatnipdealerdefinitely does some shady stuff like Temu though, I literally had tt say if I knew my old friend who I last talked to in 5th grade 😂
Bruh my friend fr ordered a entire computer set up from temu and I tell him everyday they got cameras on his ass💀💀💀 Edit: also Ik the government is watching I’m talking abt the people who run temu have cameras on him also it was a mini computer thing not a entire setup
Temu is shady AF. My wife made 1 purchase and immediately had her card compromised. They fraudsters attempted to make an $11 charge for something she did not recognize. The hell of it is, they made the attempt 16 times. The bank’s fraud center did not take any action until that last attempt when the charge actually went thru. Looking at the bank statement, the Temu charge showed up as a Hong Kong address and the 16 charges were to something in Macau.
Or one person is shady as you cannot blame the hole company for one person she also could have stoped Temu by changing her card number that way they can’t and you can put a stop payment as well.
@@MegaHarrypotter6 The fraudulent charges were less than 48 hours after the initial purchase was made, without her knowledge. She only learned about it when the fraud center made contact with her, and cancelled her card when she confirmed that the charges were fraud. Stop payments only work BEFORE the charge goes thru. And yeah, I am blaming the whole company because they are likely a CCP shill and think it is their duty to rob everyone else.
Yup. I work in fraud taking calls and I see temu purchases right before the fraud starts all the time multiple times a day. I tell people to not use it on calls because I see the same pattern so often
I also found they have made an agreement with US. Through USCC. the reason they created this incase US urgent need something from China. Currently Israel need help from US. From there used your psychological brain
The problem with places like these is that, even if they're not scammy, they're usually entirely unethical. Temu, shein, etc. places that sell things for suspiciously cheap. You're going to get products that have stolen designs, art, etc from small creators. You're going to get a product made by someone in unethical working conditions. Maybe even made by a child. I haven't seen anything at all talking about child labor at temu but like...you can't make the things you can buy on temu for THAT cheap ethically.
The thing is though, most people don't legitimately care about the conditions these workers are in, even if they say they do. They'll keep buying from places like Temu and shein because, well, if you can get unnecessary things for that cheap, why wouldn't you, especially with the cost of necessities going up?
A lot of fast fashion brands use sweatshops, pollute, steal designs, and underpay workers. You can try avoiding this by donating old clothes, thrifting, and being less wasteful.
exactly. this kiddie labor horseshit is just that. if theyre buying shit made in china, its the same thing if they get it from temu...or amazon/walmart. Its all made in china
True. In addition, the textiles they use in their clothing has a plastic content. Saw a YT video, admittedly from India that made a beanie from plastic and the end product looked like wool.😂
I tried Temu for a little while and decided I didn’t want their products. Many things were just pure junk, but a few things were ok. The thing I disliked the most was some of the things I ordered had such a bad smell to them and it lingered for days! I wondered what kind of place would smell so bad that all of its merchandise stank! I deleted the app and have not used them since. I don’t really order much from China any more either. Their clothing does not fit Americans for the most part, and returning items is way too difficult. I order from American sellers only unless the product is one I know I will keep. It’s time for us to take back our manufacturing jobs! I have items from the early 1900’s that were made in America and still function perfectly. All the China products are crap in comparison.
@@sew_gal7340 right. Are you gonna say that culture is also way better than anywhere else? Cause it’s not. Everyone is super selfish in China since they are afraid they their social credit score will be affected. Someone passed out in the street? People will just walk past them because the person helping could get in trouble for it. And not mention all the labor camps the government has over there. The ccp is an evil dictatorship
@@millennialodyssey5956 ngl i live in Canada and we call some regions in the US a third world country... Americans have little concept of how far they have fallen in terms of infrastructure, just know how to spread propaganda about how they are the best
ok but he’s not wrong. one time i was in pennsylvania for vacation and i got a couple notifications from temu saying “take a quiz to see what you know about pennsylvania!” which is weird bc temu is a shopping website and not a quiz website. i got super freaked out by this and deleted the app 😭
I definitely have Temuphobia. After deleting the app, I can't escape the ads, they're everywhere. And Google completely ignores me marking every Temu ad as unwanted.
Honestly, I love Temu, I think my favorite thing I’ve gotten from Temu has to be my phone cases and a $30 reborn doll. Those things are so much normally and they’re really good quality.
I like Temu, and the baby dolls are cheap and realistic (my sister got one for Christmas) and I use there items for diaramas and diy builds, and it’s just good for people on a budget.
same dude, i don't know how but i was so goddamn oblivious when i bought that stuff. it was the offers, they blinded me just a tip though don't enable notifications cause it said in the small print something like "if you turn on notifications we can buy stuff with your money" (got my source from someone else so take with a grain of salt) i'd also suggest deleting the account and then the app once your stuff arrives edit: stuff came, was actually ok. deleted acc and app after
@@OfficiallySmilesI mean changing your settings is kinda crazy also it’s worse when it’s a foreign government tracking us bc who knows what in the world they’ll do with that info
Every company does this. I sent a text to someone about needing a pc years ago and im STILL getting ads for it everywhere, well after i bought one. However when apps update its always a good idea to check what people are saying about whats in the code before installing it
It took 3 months for my pkg to arrive. I immediately deleted their ap when it did. I was getting multiple ads from them every day and they never replied to my late delivery issue.
I have ordered a few things from Temu. I haven’t been disappointed. Use a credit card, not a debit card. Yes, there is always malware involved. But I gotta tell ya, my phone was in my purse in the bedroom when I told my husband I wanted to make some goulash. My phone was covered up with goulash recipes. I have everything turned off on my phone. No locations, tracking, nothing. I always buy from my tablet on a secure sight. Everything is listening to you.
Exactly!! I use Temu and haven’t had any issues. Amazon was said to have done the same thing. I’ve also talked about things and had them pop up on my phone! Even Alexa asked if I wanted her to tell me more about espn after my daughter told me about a player being hurt🤯
true, but basically every app on our phones know our location, instagram tiktok and all that even track our keyboard patterns, so i think it's like any other app
Guys, when accepting the terms to temu, u agree to allow them to take ur info and sell it to third party companies, this includes EVERYTHING on your PHONE. Like this so other ppl can know
Truw! I read somewhere that Temu also has to pass their data on to the Chinese government. Don't know how true that is but they're very "controlling " with Chinese citizens so it might be true. I always check who the manufacturer is as well when I buy in-store and if it's made in China I don't buy. Everyone complains about the shortage of money but if they buy locally manufactured goods, you're supporting your own country's economy. I'm not on Tik Tok and haven't used Temu either. 😊
It makes me laugh when they bash chinese made shit from Temu while theyre all buying chinese made shit from walmart and amazon at 20 times the price lmfao
u literally can just turn the notifications off. text stop to the number or just block the number? unsubscribe to the emails or block the email address 🤨
Buy a 50$ phone and use it for all ur shady apps and websites. Doesn’t matter even if they acces ur files. Keep the phone at ur house, so it wouldn’t matter if anyone knows ur location and stuff

@@ssskopssssskopss4031 They're basically saying that they're glad that someone is finally giving their actual opinion instead of being a positive ad for Temu.
Somebody made a video about the seven dollar Nintendo switches, and I found out only 10 can be sold and they’re only available at 10 PM every day. Temu is also getting investigated.
Temu's advertising is so invasive to the point that it never ends even after me blocking every ads that come pass by my shorts. It's like they really want you to install the app as much as possible
According to another channel's report on this subject, the Temu app is already able to track you and your information because you have to give it permissions for the app to work. They then are able to sell or use that data however they see fit, including identity theft.
Ok riddle me this: temu is a shopping app. Temu needs to ship items to you. Temu can't ship items if you don't give the address. How will temu then ship you the items? Also, amazon, best buy, Walmart, future shop, the source, target, Kijiji, Rossy, Zellers, GameStop, Newegg, grocery stores, etc etc etc. I swear people complaining about location sharing on an app that LITERALLY requires it to SHIP AND DELIVER ITEMS!!!!
@@anjaleax You might want to try reading what I wrote again. The major issue was identity theft after acquiring the tracked info. To my knowledge, places like Walmart, Target, etc. may sell your contact info to third parties for advertising but they don't practice identity theft.
@@DebiB62He read perfectly fine and i don’t see you saying identity theft was the major problem you just added it to the end I have bought many things off temu for cheap and I had no issues
@anjaleax you literally have to write your address when you check out on any site. NO website/app will use your location sharing permission for your shipping address. Especially since it's not pin-point accurate. So if TEMU or any other shopping app is asking for location sharing- THAT IS CONCERNING
No fan of Temu. Wouldn't ever download it. But let's face it - half the crap in Google Playstore is tracking you. Don't know if it's still happening, but a favourite tactic used to be to submit an app for Google to assess and pass as safe to download. To be followed later by an 'update' which intentionally resulted in an unsafe app.
If you'd like to know more about Temu, Shelbizleee and I think also Gittemary, made Videos on RU-vid regarding Temu and its practices (enironmental, economic etc impact), that are really good. :)
I have ordered hundreds of dollars of stuff on Temu, clothes , outside Solar security lights, shoes, jackets , sweat suit sets , sweats , shirts never even had a Issue. It’s not cheap Made clothes either . Also shower curtain, blankets all kinds of stuff it’s better than Walmart quality
Blud, you're just listing EXACTLY what TikTok does, it's not like knowing your exact location, and being able to do literally fucking anything on your phone is unprecedented. Edit: Damn, these comments gotta chill. I was exaggerating.
Every app does this but why would there need to be an app suspension and a literal FBI investigation on both apps? Doesn’t matter what app it is, it’s shady as hell. It’s common knowledge that social media apps do this, everyone already knows. But why would they need a whole suspension for that app specifically and not any of the other big social media apps? I mean, TikTok got banned in Montana, and this one could be next with the investigations. Just because everyone else does it doesn’t mean it’s okay.
As a Chinese guy, I can tell all the haters in the comments that: 1. Cheap prices are because of mass production. Seriously if you make more of something it will just be cheaper. 2. The child labor stuff was because of manufacturers like Foxconn and not PDD. 3. About the data privacy breach: why are you all focusing on Temu, while we should be focusing on banning TikTok? Even as a Chinese guy I hate that rubbish app. And lastly, just because PDD was like that doesn't mean other companies are too. I hope no one gets the idea that Chinese companies are all untrustworthy, if you do think that, please remember that your device was probably made in China.
It's better than amazon, i dont even shop at amazon any more. If i need something i go to temu first, it just arrives 4 days later and the price is way cheaper.
As long as Temu does not use any Amazon emblem there is no violation. Amazon certainly wants to shut down Temu. I saw a military style canvas belt on Amazon at $14 Prime price. That exact same thing was on Temu for only $2. The only catch is Amazon delivers within 48 hours while it takes 15 days for Temu.
I recommend temu for just keychains, some clothes that stretch, cheap kitchen and bathroom gadgets but nothing else half things are worth buying but the rest buy from Amazon or a real store is worth it better
