I actually think it did age well because of what he said at the beginning about this you not being accurate at the point he made it, and that he hasn't done a 180 by saying here that masks should not be worn, he's discussed benefits and problems and said listen to official recommendations so I really liked this
I can't count how many tweets I've seen spreading this around and giving it almost the same treatment as being black plague 2.0. Albeit some were joking since I'm sure they probably know it's not a thing to panic over, but many more are actually spreading false rumors around and even adding to it that's only garnering more retweets. It's more frustrating to see them passing those around rather then the legitimate sources that educate and ensure people don't blindly make it worse.
Its why I don't watch the news or media in general anymore, you just can't seem to trust anyone. They don't inform you anymore, they just twist the truth so they can get more money and alot are biased. Its really sad.
Remember *W-U-H-A-N*: W - wash hands U - use mask properly H - have temperature checked regularly A - avoid large crowds N - never touch your face with unclean hands
Now rewatching this video over a year later... I wish that more people got to see this well informed well thought out video. This video really did age well but shows just how optimistic most people were back then.
Right?! Also, here, we only get five unexcused absences for the first half of the year, and five more for the other. So what if you're sick, but don't go to the doctor's for a doctor note since you know you'll be fine? That's a problem for me since whenever I'm sick, I never really go to the doctor unless if it's like really bad and lasting longer than at least three days I think. If the school district wants me to get everyone sick, then so be it.
Colleges: what you miss in class is on you. My college: If you miss a day no matter the reason you miss all content of that days class and lose half a letter grade
"Try to avoid people." Me, an introvert: *This is what I've been training for* Edit: Holy frik, thanks for the likes. It's the most I've ever gotten. O.o
My thoughts back in January: I hope this isn't going to be bad. March: I hope the wave dies down soon. July (second wave): I hope my grandchildren get to go to a concert one day.
also: no, people who are too poor to afford a day off because "sick pay" isn't a mandatory thing. I wish sick people could just stay home; but if my kid brings home a virus, my partner can't afford to not go to both of his jobs. It's shitty but true.
THIS is the sad truth. As well as companies not giving enough sick days, so people can actually AFFORD to stay home when they're sick.. #thesystemisbroken
Avoid contact with people: Introverted people:OH YEAH THIS GOING TO BE EASY Antisocial people:OH YEAH THIS IS MY JAM Extroverted people: I guess I’ll die then 🤷🏼♀️
Legends had that the world shall be destroyed by the so tortured animals infecting the human civilization to it's deepest levels. Fortunately, heroes would rise above the ashes, those who had never had contact with the exterior world and, therefore, never were subjected to the plague; they would be called “the introverts”, the founders of a new civilization.
Watching this two months later after following this story, and I'm still impressed by Dr. Mike's levelheadedness and his use of straight-forward facts. He never comes off as dismissive or flippant - just aware and direct. Everything he said then holds up now, and I especially appreciate him addressing the fact that things change based on the information we have (and boy have they changed). Thank you, Dr. Mike, for being a voice of reason in a very strange time.
Thank for that last part of your comment about him saying things can change. People are now criticizing him for the things he said back when we didn't have all the informations we have now. I think they were not attentive enough because he did warn that the situation was evolving
@@anhphi100 That is so stupid. He should have known, it was all foreseeable from the virus’s genetic structure that was so particularly long and dangerous.

Or, you could just provide doctor's notes about your medical check up and explain the situation of your sickness thoroughly. Rules are made so that people can function effectively within their roles, but it doesn't mean that there won't be an exception to some special cases. Rules are made by humans, so the only way to break the rules (for good reasons) is to talk to humans like a human being.
@@ginsan8198 My school has made it painfully clear that no matter if it's an excuse absent or not, you still have to make up hours. Hopefully not everyone's school is like this
@@ginsan8198 idealisticlly that would work, reality on the other hand is a whole different beast...I failed some subjects due to getting sick and at my university two sick absences were simply considered one and that's it... that's how far their consideration went!
Thank you Dr. Mike! 1. Alert, not anxious. 2. Don't travel to China. 3. Call if you may be sick. 4. Wash frequently. 5. Don't touch your face. 6. Cough/sneeze in tissue. 7. Clean common areas. 8. Avoid contact. 9. If sick, stay home.
I bite my nails ALL the time (I do it when I’m stressed and I’m almost always stressed) so I’m done for. But I don’t leave my house to much so I have That going for me
C C IKR another is “if you can stand, walk, breath you can still go to school” thats why I’m forced to go to school even if I feel my insides dying (its been 2 days of fever and dry cough currently)
Update for March! Cases:86993 Deaths:2979 Recoveries:42596 (The chances of you getting corona are low, but the chances of you dying from it are SUPER LOW, as long as you stay healthy
@@Dylan-qj8gj noooo. They die there because they dont have respirators for everyone. It's called prioritizing, and its 44% as of yesterday. You really think that's just old people?
My job is complete the opposite. I work with kids and we have regulations. If there is ANY suspicion that ANYone in your household has a particular infectious disease (like chicken pox or measles) you are NOT allowed to come to work. I legit had to sign two forms regarding this. Also I live in a country where health insurance pays the company if you are more than three days sick.
Staying home when you're sick is so tough when you live in the US. I've had some co workers come in when they were so sick, even stomach bugs etc because they ran out of sick leave. Not even just a matter of not getting paid, you sometimes risk losing health insurance for that month depending on how your pay is structured! What a b.s.!!!
Dr. Mike: "alert but not anxious" Me: *touching my chin and lips because thats what i do when im focused and anxious* Dr. Mike: "don't touch your face"
No need to panic. It’s all just fear-mongering again by the media and medical industry. This happens every year if people didn’t notice. Lots of other things that are contagious around the world that no one is talking about they you don’t ever give a second thought about. Eat right and exercise to keep your immune system strong. You’ll be ok and ignore the fear-mongrels.
I was making a transcript of the video for my English class and just wanted to take a second to appreciate, how there is over 1500 words of useful, well-researched information in just under 10 minutes.
Hi There, Well have you seen how many dysfunctional families and the worry of not having a future due to the entire world dying? I mean, I don’t blame us for being anxious practically every single day.
2nd of April, aah so sweet and innocent. How little did we know back then. Haven't seen my parents in 2 weeks (high risk goup) haven't been out shopping, social life? Yeah, online gaming with the voices of my fiends in my ears. Two friends infected, one possible carrier. All but 3 work at home, thousand+ deaths in my country, more infected. Wish we were more strict back then.
Stacey Hendriks the curse of hindsight. We will get through this. The world we will step into will be a lot different from the one we left behind, but WE will survive and persist. Take care of yourself, wherever you are!

I catched some weird "flue" few days ago, I have exact same symptoms as Mike said. I catched it when I was visiting my sister, she is a student. After that day she was kind enough to tell me that recently some students were in freakin' China but they had to go back because of that virus. Since that day I am living on an edge and can't stop thinking about it : D But yet 6 days later I am still living, taking some medication and hoping for the best xd
Loved this! Dr. MIke- "Please don't think that if you are reading someone's tweet, and because it has been re-tweeted alot, that it must be acurate information". You sir, are a scholar and a gentleman.
9. If sick, stay at home Sick students: still forced to go to school Edit: instead of saying thanx for the likes, ill say youre welcome for the quality meme
Oh my gosh you’re the only person I’ve ever met outside of an anime video who has a saiki profile picture I don’t want to be that person but i literally never see saiki anywhere aaaaa
Well if they are un-excused absents then yes you will lose credit. But if they are excused then no. My cousin missed a full month of class cause she had surgery. Didn’t lose any credit. She was just a little behind but she caught up.
there is this girl and she doesn't have the cornavirus ( I hope ) but she is coughing and sick and we keep telling her to go home and she wont go home. and i dont want to be a bum and tell her to stay away from me but she literary jokes that she wants to get people sick. and idk what to do.
Schools: Stay home if you’re sick Me: Stays home 1 day Schools: Well now you’re 4 chapters behind, you have 10 assignments, 7 tests, and 5 lunch detentions because the teachers said you should have gotten that homework done anyways.
A lot of people said this video aged badly. I came to the opposite conclusion. Dr. Mike, thank you for providing this video so early on. Most of the advice you gave back then are still up-to-date, and as you said back then, since the situation was developing rapidly, the best thing to do back then was to stay alert for further updates but not panic.
I had an anxiety attack(not sure) once I never had it before it happened about a week ago Cant sleep racy heart Head hurts Is that an anxiety attack? It's now gone and still haven't gotten it again
