The marketing for this table was pretty bang up and it had me 50/50 till I saw this video. It just isn't very high quality. When you include the price of the topper, accessories and huge shipping - it ends up nearly the same price as an all wood premium table. Cancelling my pledge and going to jump the gun on a custom table. Really appreciate the critical look.

Those arm rests were the first red flag for me and then seeing how poorly cut the mats are for the table. I didn’t find out about the base until after I canceled. I predict a ton of dissatisfied customers

Honeslty speaking the price look amazing but adding few things/shipping and VAT and we are at 1000$. The question is about the quality that a person is aiming, I will prefer to spend 1500$ even 2000$ to have a better quality table instead having a cheap solution. For example now I'm living in a rented appartment and I'm ok with IKEA forniture but if I will move to a property that I own i will for sure take something more quality and possible nicer (althought IKEA has some with a nice style)

Thanks great review and gives me lots of insight and gets me thinking. I have backed but still undecided. Love the size and price with the ability to get adapt it with more accessories. Also not a fan of the idea foam board and the wood inserts (look like rollers) but understand with low price point there are some trade offs needed. I have to say what really disappoints me is when Canadian companies charge more to ship within its own country then others like the USA, I understand Canada is large with much smaller population but still the optics to me aren't great and a turn off that we pay more; also don't love it being in USD for same reason but I guess that is for the most part the common accepted currency so easier.

I have to double check the brand but they were strong magnets with double sided adhesive.

This table only makes sense to me at its $399 pledge level. It's actually not so bad. But when I start to add the topper and consider a 6x5 configuration with a topper this product becomes less appealing. I dont think anybody believes those dowels are gonna prevent an arm going through the table if a person stretches over and presses down in the wrong place. But its $399, you get what you pay for. I don't have much confidence in rubber stickers holding the toppers in place either. My OCD would always wonder if it's on straight. Not only that, I'd be afraid of the boards coming apart every time I put a hand down or an elbow on the top. All those holes in the metal frame for accessories are nice IF you use them. If you dont use them, you will have them anyway. You can pay to plug them if it bothers you and yeah, the holes and the plugs both kinda bother me. You showed overlap when you put the playmats down so I dont believe them when they say its gonna be seemless. I'll just come right out and say this is not a good deal if you plan on a 6x5 with a topper. Gamefound has a significantly better 4x6 table for practically the same price with the only difference being its shipping cost if you live in the US. It's under $300 difference so its not too bad considering the quality. The table is called The Bristol Wide Large and there's really no contest in my mind. I guess my problem is I read they're offering a $399 table to compete with a $1999 table and I took it literally. I don't see it. This table can quickly become a $1999 table and the only "value", if you wanna call it that, comes into play with its shipping cost. You can argue 5x6 is bigger than 4x6, and that's valid. I only mention it because the 3x5 seems narrow. Maybe 3' is good for you. It's smaller than the table I have now and I dont want to imagine how losing 4 inches will affect my table hogs. If you think having the versatility of multiple tables is a selling point then good. This product might make you happy. I'm not the type to wanna put together and tear down a table on a regular basis. I can see the appeal here though. There's plenty of people looking at this thing on KS who are all about it. If this were a little wider with a better topper and a lower price tag I could suppress my gripes. They've told me none of that is possible. They have thousands of customers as it is. I guess we'll find out if they're happy in a year.

FYI, on an actual spill the FAQ on KS suggests you wait for it to dry(after wiping up the spill) before lifting out the leaves of the topper. In your case you lifted them within seconds of the spill.

this looks like the kind of thing that serves as a great start... then you head to lowes and pick up some lumber to make it really nice. for $400 cant really complain.

Thanks for the helpful review! I did want to say that you shouldn’t talk tons about the wood pieces slipping if you put your own magnets instead of the rubber that comes with it. Your comments don’t apply at all to the finished product backers will receive.

I AM SO GLAD that I canceled on this and late pledged the Game Topper. I have no idea why I didn't look more closely at the the 3.5 Campaign when it came out. Luckily their late pledge is still open. I can't understand why anyone would pick this over the Game Topper. I'm only spending $500 more to the total cost than what I would have spent on this table plus I'm getting a bigger table that's usable in two sizes, portable, lots of accessories.

Which game Topper are you getting, I’m glad I saw your comment, I canceled my pledge on project iron side aswell and late pledge the bundle with the holmes table. From what I saw , game topper is better quality for a similar price. I even took the leg kit that i might use in the long run.

@@Faxmachine15 I’m getting the Mycroft bundle plus legs and accessories. You can covert that table to a 4x4 without buying the extra rail, you only need a mat. I watched a ton more videos on it and I’m really confident in this being what I need.

I was on the fence about this till I saw this video also. There underside looks ultra cheap for the price. I am looking at late pledging for a Gametopper as well. For me at the end of the day it will be about $700 ish more Canadian but looks way better built.

Tbh I will probably use a piece of plywood cut to fit tight instead of the rods and boards. Throw the mat on top of that or upholster some foam and speed cloth to the plywood.

That foam board was (and still is) my biggest concern. Do you think it could be swapped out for some plywood to make the playing surface feel more substantial?
@JustAGeekyDad
@JustAGeekyDad Год назад
Yes I think so if you cut it down to size. That is honestly my plan to do so as well. I have spoken with Cloud puncher games too and they have reinsured me that that won't be the final product it'll be something that is stronger.

Thanks, video was really helpful. Still stuck between this and the Jasper. Going to be a dedicated game table in a home office for mostly solo games and occasional 2-3 player games, not a dining room table replacement. So I don't mind some wobble and subpar topper, but if something as simple as rolling dice and placing pieces on that foam board feels off, it's going to impact the overall experience. Have a pledge on KS to reserve a spot in line, but thankfully it's a long KS campaign so there is time to decide. Thanks again, this video has been the most helpful info I've found on this table!

Great review! Pretty obvious fix for the vault floor is a couple of pieces of hardboard (cheap, and they’ll cut it for you at most DIY stores) with pine 1x2s attached to the backs with carpet tape. The 1x2s will take the pace of the dowel rods and hold the weight and stiffen the hardboard. I’d strongly consider using more of the hardboard sheet (or some nice wood trim) to make arm rests, spray painted and stuck on with magnets. These could be moved to the sides when the top is on.

Not yet but the entire ability to combine tables was a breakthrough based upon a Facebook comment I made on June 16th requesting multi-table modularity. I think they are almost there but I might have to wait for more info to pull the trigger. I think I would love to see a video showing how much work is required to merge tables together. I'm not sure I really understand how much unscrewing is required to remove 2 rails and use their extension parts to merge them. Most importantly though I think was your comment about discomfort in your arms after playing a long time. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8-Fnbsn3zbg.html Yes they sell armpads but now I'm wonder if it even matters what surface you are resting your arms on. Was this true as well for the 10 other board games you reviewed? Do wood rails somehow avoid this issue of discomfort? The way you worded it, you seem to suggest that it was due to the surface being steel instead of wood but would a wooden rail suffer the same fate? Was the discomfort due to the material or the width of the rail or both? Even though it was my idea to want 2-4 of these tables I may have to sit the first KS round out until I get more feedback and information.
@JustAGeekyDad
@JustAGeekyDad Год назад
@@sidneyleejohnson I do not have another table to merge it together only the extensions. Its easy to put together, just time consuming. If you already have the 5 ft table set up and want to extended it for more players you would have to undo a total of 16 screws. Then add the two extended bars and screw those into place both of them take 4 screws to screw into place (total of 8 screws). You would need to screw the legs back into the frame so screwing those 16 screws back into place. Hope that makes sense. I know it kinda hard to picture. Again if you wanted it back to a 5 ft table you have to undo all that take the extensions out and screw the legs back into the frame. For the comfort I found the steel harder when my arms are leaning/resting on it then a smooth sanded table.. Again this if after hours of playing. The steel can also get cold. It would depend on the wood rail to get the same discomfort. So I would say based on the material. The width was a good size for me. Its also hard for me to say because the table is not the final product the base pretty much is but they are still making some changes. I am in talks with them about all my concerns and addressing most of them. There is only so much they can do to keep the cost down so i understand. Overall I am still happy with the table. I am not on the fence about the topper myself and I would suggest a cover for it.

Strongly considering it. I have wanted a gaming table for a while and while 3x5 is an ideal size my small living space means anything larger than 2x3 takes up too much room. Being able to break this one down completely and stuff it in a closet is a huge plus.

Great review.. don’t think this table is worth the money they are charging. Plus shipping is very high. I also don’t like the look of the table. It looks cheap they even charge for the plastic plugs for the holes on the sides of the table. The base of the table with foam board and mat just looks bad.
