Who is very publicly anti blm and lgbt and very pro far right and trump. It’s pointless to even explain to you. You’ll believe anything if it fits your narrative at this point, could even be a piece of shitty toilet paper that looks like a triangle and you’ll take it as proof the illuminati is controlling your every move
Tom reminds me greatly of Rage Against The Machine - in that he also doesn't take shit from anyone or lets anybody dictate what he can and / or cannot do.
This is their worst fear. We are in the age now, because of technology, where more artists can start producing and sending out their own music to a much wider audience. While there are already artists who have realized and done this, I truly believe you're one of the first to really push further through the barriers and may break that wall finally.
There have been quite a few highly successful independent artists who have never signed to a label. And many many more reasonably successful independent artists who have never signed to a label.
We all know that someone owns the guy somewhere. Just because he posted a video saying what he respond to the competitors doesn't mean that he's independent
@@Destinyirus278 I didn’t say she was a Rockafeller. Lols. Other rappers gave her the nickname Rockafeller. Like I said, she has serious money and connections. She grew up with a father and brother in the industry and a studio in their home. I’m not even kidding. Look it up. Her family has been in the music industry for years. But you’re right, he’s not selling out. He doesn’t need to. He met the right people with the right connections.
Integrity is the most overused word when describing one's self without seeing any proof of such integrity. THIS is actual proof. 👏👏👏BRAVO!! Dont be gotten by the music pimps!
"At the end of the day I am beholden to no one, no record companies, no corporate interests, no nothing. They can't cancel me because I don't give a f***". - Kid Rock.
Now. When he was huge he was on several different record labels _including_ *Atlantic* - definitely a Major Record Label. NOW that his career is in its twilight and he is no longer hitting the top of the charts he makes this claim - and its true now. Tom has NEVER been on a label. He has ALWAYS been independent from the start.
Legit, once people can post their own music, they don't need the few fancy studios out there, and they can make everything and do everything on their own without these big corporations, everything changes for the individual.
This is what we need. People just producing their own music. People promoting theirselves. We don't need anyone to do that for us.Tom is proof of that.
The principal of them was to help take some of the burden of starting up off of young budding musicians. Helping more to succeed and diversifying the music industry. Sadly it’s quickly gone down hill. Now it’s simply whose going to be the next hot thing so they can make money off of us.
@@fryloc359 Unfortunately that’s all wrong. Social media is backwards. People need to stop posting on other people’s servers and start posting on their own servers where they have all the control and can’t be censored or banned.
One word technology. He would be taking every deal if he did not have a cellphone or Internet to post his content on social media. It's all about access.
@@princealmighty5391 please tell me how you make money when the company owns everything you do? Your masters, your voice, your video. Every single penny going to Tom GOES to Tom, he isn’t splitting with anyone unless he wants to. That’s worth way more than money bro.
@@ntbore4324 oh no I mentioned Nova it must mean I'm in love. And what if I were? How in all hell is that your concern. Are you jealous? Does it make you so very sad she has fans too? What sad life do you have that you just get on people's post and ask dumbass questions? Lol have fun with that

I see a lot of people commenting "American pride" and people saying Tom's American. Since a lot of people OBViOUSLY aren't aware.....Tom's CANADIAN. He was born in Canada. He just part time lives in the US. (he owns a house in Canada and the US which he splits time between). The same thing applies for Dax too....he's canadian aswell. I believe Dax is from Ottawa and Tom macdonald from western Canada. I think British columbia
@@joshuajordan8486 that's a dumbass argument only kids make and also that only happened once so calm down you can say about almost every somewhat decent band or singer
They want to silence what you’re saying. If you signed to a record label they would make you put out music only they approve of. Proud of you for not selling your soul!
He's just anorther corporate puppet acting independent to hide the truth. It's no coincidence his record is called Ghost. Like he said, "if you got numbers, they'll exploit you."
Not saying you’re wrong. I’m just saying that you’ve shown us three examples of companies sending you fairly courteous emails, and as far as I can tell, they respected your decision to decline. You also showed us emails of you being incredibly blunt at best, rude at worst. You didn’t really expose anyone but yourself. Again, not saying you’re wrong. I’m just saying you didn’t really prove anything.
Exactly! If they cared they would have reached out before you had the number one pop song. They’re just greedy. Thank you for not giving in and inspiring so many of us 🙌
He has had alot of offers in the past and he turned them all down before, they didn't wait til this song they just stopped after he turned them down. Just thought they'd give it another shot. LOL .
I thought he was an absolute kook when he changed his name to the unpronouncable symbol, but later on I found put the whole story behind it, well played. A big ol finger to the record label!
I recently watched an interview with Van Halen talking about this sort of thing. After they finished their first tour, supporting their first album, David Lee Roth recounts how their label insisted the band owed them $2 million. Despite the large amounts of album sales, all of the sold-out concerts and merchandise that Van Halen sold, somehow they were indebted $2 million to their record label. Roth quickly talked some sense into the record company and, I think were no longer in debt.
Your unexpected crossover with GHOST into the #1 slot on the Pop Charts, and not one of those labels getting an acorn out of it, has got to be the best feeling for you, especially after all of the work you and your team have put into this. The great tracks you released were just icing on the cake. This people, is "The American Dream" Congratulations once again, and all of you at HOG keep up the great work!
Tom, I admire you. Thank you for believing in yourself, taking a stand, and for not selling out. Your soul is worth so much more and I'm so glad you see that.
These are the same things Freddie Mercury and Prince warned the music world about. Musicians are exploited, used, then tossed like garbage. So proud of you guys for working so hard and seeing your success!
ya except freddy mercury was signed to 6 plus record labels same as prince. if your gonna spew crap make sure to wipe with facts or your backed up with shit
Tom is completely controlled. Just not on paper. That's the whole scam. They make you believe that he came up organically and hasn't sold out because he isn't signed, but in the background he is being funded by a silent party who tells him what he can and cannot say. He's playing a role. His job is to promote neoconservatism, which is anti conservative in nature. He had Blair White (another neocon grifter) in one of his music videos.
@@robertsmalls3513 right.... because there are no known instances of wealthy people buying their way out of convictions is there. Both the parents and he ought to have gone to prison as far as I'm concerned
@@yungrydr Can you elaborate? All the singers/rappers I know that truly did fight the system have been completely cancelled. Many of them had equal if not more potential than Tom but flew too close to the sun and tptb made sure they never blew up like Tom has. I'd like to believe Tom is legit but it's hard to trust anyone these days, especially when they've been allowed to gain this much wealth and success.
I stopped buying music from the labels sometime shortly after the Napster fiasco. I am not going to blow 10-20 (what it was) for an album from someone that I don’t know if 1 song on there is one I liked. And since I don’t listen to the radio it kind of freed me up of spending several hundred albums every few months. Love your music Tom. Keep it up! Keep standing against the labels.
Record labels had the excuse of actually making the records/tapes/CD’s and distributing them to the stores. But in the digital world they literally have no value.
I worked as a gigging and struggling musician for ten years Tom, after my son was born I gave up on my music dreams, seeing someone become successful and give these labels a middle fingers gives me the warm and fuzzies
@@kingofthedead333 maybe do some research before you comment next time? You’re selling your image, they own you after you sign. So stop talking if you don’t know what you’re talking about!
Man, love it when you truly see someone rise above it, and do it on their own with just their fam. Now, if more artists take your advice, you can bring them down
