I added these to my mug shop as soon as they dropped. Yeah, I know how you feel about mugs, but I have a niche shop and the mugs sell well. Add in the coffee, and it makes for a nice add on product to the mugs. "Oh, I love this mug for a gift for XXX. Oh, coffee, too!!! That would go so well with the mug!"

This!! 👏🏼 I’ve been in the handmade skincare biz since 2017 and you are spot on. I explored white labeling at one point and the MOQs are usually insane. And making it yourself - also a little insane at times and exhausting (especially if you want to scale it bigger). POD for these types of products opens up entirely new opportunities to build (and scale) a business with products that are already tested and ready to go. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea (or….coffee), and yes there are definitely some nuances, but for the right entrepreneur it’s definitely a game changer.

I'm concerned about the risk, though. What if someone is allergic to an ingredient? Can that come back and bite me if someone's face breaks out in a blistering rash or something just as scary?

@@MsLorriAnne I carry general liability insurance to cover any potential incidents as a best practice, and I always recommend customers spot-test with new products and discontinue if irritation occurs. Is there some risk? Sure. But it's no different than someone being allergic to something I put into a product I make myself. It's a risk I'm aware of and accept in order to run the business that I want to operate. In the case of Printify's new skincare line, I would actually consider the risk even lower than my handmade business in some ways because the professional formulary lab that makes it is able to do much more expansive testing than I ever could as a handmade business. There is nothing out of the ordinary or harsh with any of the ingredients in the Printify skincare line, so it's definitely not something I'd lose sleep over :)

It's a great idea but the price is way too expensive. My local grocery store sells brand name coffee, twice as many ounces, for less than printify. Then on top of it, you have to pay over $7 for shipping. If the price was right, it would be perfect, but you're at over $20 for a 12 oz bag of coffee. No coffee lover is going to pay that kind of money for a coffee brand they've never heard of when they can get twice as much product for half the price for name brand at the store. If someone can make the numbers work, I'm willing to listen.

Lots of coffee brands have emerged over the past 5-10 years that aren’t sold in stores and sell millions of bags of coffee for over $20 The point you’re missing is that you could now try and start one, without ordering mass quantities to start.

I would like examples of places that are selling their 12oz coffee for over $20. Even if we found customers that would buy our coffee religiously, we'd have to sell it at $30 to make a small profit. In my eyes, this is harder to sell and make a profit than selling shirts.

I agree. Fantastic idea that would fit into my niche , I'd have to do some research on other sellers and their prices. I would not pay $20 for 12 ounces but that doesn't mean no one else will.

THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING!!! What a great concept. I buy my everyday coffee from the grocery store but I treat myself to specialty coffee all the time and when I do I buy mainly based on the label. I like having a relatable coffee brand package around to remind of something that I enjoy like the Pacific Northwest or meditation. It helps me somehow.

I bought a bag of coffee from a Facebook ad once because it was called Black Pug coffee (with a cute black pug on the package) and I have a black pug. Coffee was meh but the almost year old (and mostly untouched) bag is still sitting on my counter because its so cute. Packaging sells, if only once. They got my money. And it was over $30 after shipping.

I think this a HUGE game changer within the POD industry. I can totally see cosmetics, skincare, other beauty products like nail polish or nail kits, coffee, and tea can all be used to create white label brands. From what I see on TikTok and Instagram, consumers are more and more interested in purchasing from small businesses that have a creative niche rather than mass produced companies such as Target, WalMart or even Amazon.

I'm not a lawyer, but I just took a graduate class on business law and we talked about product liability. Product liability is really strict, a person could sue the manufacturer, Etsy, or you the reseller. Now depending on how you set up your business, such as with a LLC, or LLP, could limit your actually liability, but you raise a great question when it comes to consumable goods like this.

This video was so awesome and there is a really deep connection to be made with the coffee niche if marketed well. Those who love coffee love the whole aesthetic of it, the mood of it, and if marketed well I could see this being a huge success. I feel like you could design the packaging different ways for different audiences and market it as a gift and easily get the higher price point. Like say you make one that a realtor could gift to their new homebuyers, etc. Or design ones specifically to give as a gift for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day. That was my thought anyways. People will easily spend $30+ if it’s being given as a gift and what a unique gift that would be. The design on this one is what will sell it. I spent a lot of time on the roastify website before I saw this video and they seem like an awesome company. I’m completely new to POD and haven’t chosen a product yet so this was super exciting for me. Thanks Joe!

I think this is GREAT! As some one who Managed a Private Label Coffee/Coffee Store Business, this is massive. There are people like Emma Chamberlain who was actually ALMOST customer of ours for Private Labeling Single Serve Cups (Salesman Fumbled). However there were some influencers in the Fishing niche and they used us for this exact product. Being able to NOW add coffee to my store is awesome. People before this people associated me with coffee😂 so now it’s perfect. GREAT OUTLOOK JOE!

This is a game changer.As the other product markets become saturated we need to expand our offerings. Coffee is an awesome upsell item. You sell mugs, why not the coffee.....AND it's a consumable that needs replenishing. Sure, not everyone is going to like the blends but honestly if you don't see it as an opportunity to value add, you are going to miss out.

That is so cool, Joe. It is a turning point, your right, about that. That is the only way, to go to the next level, for sure. I am still, fearful, of how to do, the transactions, from the print manufacterer. To the customer, in the transactions, part of it. I love the idea, though. Clothing, and shoes, and makeup, is a no brainer. You, can make that, a go. And, why not the coffee, with different flavors, as well. I have to check out printify. It can be scary, because there is affiliate marketing, also. There is so many businesses modles, to choose from, and it is hard to pinpoint one, like only one, to do. I am very creative, and I love the design aspect of it. However, someone, who is not, as much creative, can do the makeup, for example. And, someone who wants, to combine, they would be like, a deluxe deal. Fashion, and makeup, at a one stop place! Thank you, for the wonderful info, and showing this! It is a cool idea, from abusiness, perspective! And, so much, opportunity, for sure!

Wow that’s new. We have something similar Here in Philippines they call it rebranding. But It’s mostly on cosmetic products. The manufacturer have lipsticks, soaps perfumes, lotions and so on. All you have to do is order in bulk with your brand on it.

Consider that every state and country has different regulations for selling consumable goods like coffee - I don’t think this was covered in the video. When I create a video on this topic for my POD community, I will also highlight the fact that you may need liability insurance to protect yourself from potential lawsuits. I think the evolution is important for print on demand… but for my students and myself, I’m going to not get swayed by shiny objects and continue focusing on POD fundamentals, personalization options, and AI art. Yeah, I was wondering about these products, you would have to have some sort of insurance. I would worry about selling anything that goes into the body or on the body, scares me. Most people will be okay, but there will be some that could cause major problems.

That's what I'm here for too. Most entrepreneurs use sole proprietor entities and don't equip themselves with liability insurance, so they are doubly at risk.

I think you are correct. This is a great "direction" for POD to go to be able to remain viable. There is a whole new group of consumers who would like to get more information about some of the consumable goods they use - in my opinion - if shop owners can provide that information along with top quality products it will trigger incredible growth and success for the POD industry.

Great video. I think most people don't realize it's not about the coffee. It's about the niche. As a niche or "novelty" gift to someone you love, $20 - $30 is not an outrageous price. Don't expect people to go to your print on demand store for their groceries.

Not understanding the cost here. Seems someone is charging extreme amounts. Shouldn't need to sell a bag for $30 to make a small profit. Failure by printify.

@@RealJoeRobert Most people selling POD are just looking to make income, not looking to make peoples lives better or safer. When selling what people put into their bodies we should take a little extra care in the brands we build. There is more liability here if someone gets sick drinking the coffee or has a reaction to the new skin products.
