Same. I have a couple sites but the one that gave the best discounts is shutting down. So Ramen for a couple weeks while I financially recover from buying 4 kits I've been contemplating before their closing 😅

GW should switch to a subscription based model, pay like $15-$20 a month and in return get access to official 3D print files and all the written game materials through an app, it wouldn’t be as much bang for buck per customer but imagine the volume of customers they could get, people who are only casually interested, people who are hesitant to drop $200 just to get into a game they may not enjoy long term, people who subscribe and then forget they’re subscribed, etc. 3D printing is becoming more accessible for regular people, while it would kill the need for their brick and mortar stores eventually it would probably end up being more profitable due to just getting more people into it and a lower demand for employees and I’m sure there would still be plenty of people willing to buy models from them instead of printing them if prices dropped due to increased cash flow from subscribers.

I think GW internally had given up the war against 3D printing. I believe that at this point they're just trying to squeeze all of the money they can out of the customers who are still loyal or don't have access to printing for whatever reason. It just feels like a final greed grab.

I'd enjoy OPR more if the creator hadn't been such a cunt to me over Discord. All I'd done was slightly repose some of the models, just so I didn't have to look at the same set of poses on my paint desk- and for whatever reason I'm the guy he singles out for his tangent of the month, given he apparently does that fairly often. Like, I still play it as one of my rules-lite of choice (and usually Renegade Scout for a crunchier time) but it's still a bit of a dampener, y'know?

It's ridiculous!! After the new Skaventide release and the new units that come extra after the 3rd edition release for the stormcast and skaven, unless they come out with more Stormcast dragon units, I'm done!! It's petty, pathetic, and disgusting. If u raise the price, you lose customers becauseits to expensive. If you decrease the price, you get more customers and more purchases. Wtf are you doing. Clearly the wrong thing!!!

It is literally sheets of plastic. The profit margins on these things is undoubtedly several thousand times anyway. It probably cost them pennies to run the sprues and they could easily make profit at 20.00 a kit.

I got Dominion and Curesed City for 50% off. Just got Sisters Boarding patrol, a drop pod, and Leagues of vothann Combat Patrol for 40% off. Buying them at nearly 50% is the only time I feel like I'm paying the right price.

I went to my local Warhammer shop yesterday. I had forgotten about the price increase announcement. I was eyeing up some Sisters of Battle just to paint as argent shroud - inspired by the Hellsreach animation. Saw the £40 price tag on a battle sister squad. I am old enough to remember the main game (2nd edition I believe) was £40. That is £78 today. Two of those squads are not equal value to that box. I also remember 10 space marines being £10. That's about £19 today. They're double that now. I've decided to significantly reduce my spending on Warhammer. I am not short of money, but it doesn't have that value to me anymore. My little girl has shown interest to start, I've discouraged it as she will wait ages to save up to start (not including birthday / Christmas). Poor value.

In Canada, it’s $55 for 1 Krootox rider… a 35 point model. They work in squads of 3… a 105 point squad is $165 here. And that was pre price increase.

Giving games workshop has already pissed off a large portion of their base with the changes to 37 year-old canon and the subsequent gaslight of their fan base. The custodians were always women, and their promise of a new Amazon series that has been scrapped. Workshop is in no position to reach for more against their fans wishes. A pricing increase will Most certainly hurt them. But no one claimed “the woke” were smart.

GW said 3-5% price increase ON AVERAGE So if you include all the already overpriced product(paints, brushes, etc) wich didn't increase you can have a 10-15% increase on certain product and still have a 4.9% average price increase They didn't lie They're just assholes

They priced me out of the hobby, I live in argentina so there aren't even stores selling boxes. I used to be able to travel to the us and bring back paints, space marines etc. Nowadays some boxes are worth more than what i make in a months of hard labor (I work in construction)

I’m pretty well paid in a middle management position but I have a family (wanted to get my youngest into Warhammer) and literally cannot justify those outlays; it’s utterly absurd what they’re charging.

Just printed 15000 points of battlefleet gothic for about £30 in resin. I fully support Warhammer and 40k but gw has done nothing but earn out scorn now for over a decade. It’s time they start paying for it. (It’s not just the cost, it’s what they are doing to harm the community, their lack of ability to deliver in all areas from virtual content to following through with commitments and product lines, squatting fantasy even with the Italian inspired reprint coming soon, abandoning game sets after people have committed, invalidating large sections of the range after selling it to be used in rules sets, fomo, I can keep listing for about a hour here but you get the point)

GW made my army "complete" for me. Bought last midels in Jan for christmas, then found out new edition is comming in summer. Then got told that ckose to 100% of my army (l have 5 judicators from 1st ed) went in to legends. I am not rebuying an army that isn't even 2 years old. Worse part is that l can't even go play Old World like BoC players.

Instead of "value" when talking about the combat patrols, I'd personally prefer to use the word "discount". If I look at one of those pictures of combat patrols, and consider it's DIY and not necessarily even enough for a 500 pt newbie match, that 168 $ price tag doesn't really feel like a good deal to me. The way I see it, WH40k doesn't even get to its proper balance before both armies are around 1500-2000 pts, with preferably some options for tactical variation. As such, I don't really see much "value" in the discounts, unlike a 3D printer at this point.

For me, the annual price increase of 5-8% is a blessing, because I am currently in the process of selling all the garbage that I have bought from GW over 6 years. I was in the hobby for 6 years and enjoyed doing 40k. new beginner evenings in the hobby shop. I always thought it was great to show young people the game, because for me 40k. always had a social page, because you don't sit in front of the PC there. In our local hobby shop, however, it became more and more difficult to "sell" the game to newcomers because of the much too high price. After that, even many of our old players changed systems. I will do that and am already looking forward to new big battles at a third of the price.

Warhammer players are crying about the prices for 30+ years now. And Games Workshop never cared. And they are still around. To understand why the never cared, we need to understand how companies work. Usually they are not interested in their own survival. They are interested in earning as much money as fast as they can. Imagine you are having a shop your own. Would you rather earn 2,000,000 $ in the next 10 years or 4,000,000 $ over the next 40 years? You are probably going for the former. And then you take the money and invest in something else for the next 30 years. And that`s exactly how investors look at this things. The main goal is a high return of investment, because it enables them to invest somewhere else faster. And as long as this remains an attractive hobby for some, GW is going to make enough money. They rather sell half the stuff at double the margin. And people that have money usually don`t care what their hobbies cost too much. Otherwise no one would have a boat, no one would play golf, ... Anyone thinking that this will hurt GW makes wrong assumptions about GW and their customers. As people were making for the last 30 years.

Can we stop calling the starter kits a "good deal". They were a good value back when they were $80. Now they're over 200 bucks. GW likes to price gouge their fans because they think it's still 1998 and they're the biggest and best when there are now better and FAR more affordable games out there from companies that like to do good things for their fans instead of milk them for every penny and cash in on FOMO with every release.

you can do whatever you want! the beauty of free speech! but i only play Games Workshop games, the channel is called War Hammer Man Studios, and i'm War Hammer Man... so i compare GW prices of boxed sets, to GW prices of individual components. so sure, you can get plastic green army men at the dollar store for cheaper, but thats not really apples to apples, is it? the boxed sets like Leviathan were $250 and had over $900 in minis, so thats a deal no matter how you look at it! hope that helps you understand, cheers

I bet they still post strong profits. 3D printing is great and all, but it's not something everyone cares to do. It's work to find STLs you like, dial in the print parameters, and print everything. Buying a box of sprues skips that step and goes right to painting. Never underestimate people being willing to pay more for less work

I 3d print all my ZM terrain for HH and necromunda. I’ve started to slow down all my GW purchases. I believe they are very close to the breaking point for most hobbyists. It will probably breakdown into most people picking one game to play and that’s it.

Tbh, the price increases weren't the reason I stopped buying GW ( Kill Team, Necromunda & Warcry ). The reason is their limited production runs so unless you know some shop owner you might not be be able to get a box ( or pay sclaper prices ). And that's idiotic. Was biting the bullet to start playing 40k... But put that money into a 3d printer instead. The difference between $600 here or there is night and day when you anticipate future plans to be shitty. OPR is fantastic and worth the money while GW is an abusive scrooge and should be divorced

Entry products need to be accessible. If you get them hooked at a low price, they will likely be more willing to buy more at higher prices. Problem is, though, the Assault on Black Reach 5th edition starter kit at $65 was such a good deal, and had units that were also useful for veteran players, that entry point wound up cannibalizing other sales.

If you like WW2 you can buy a full army of Bolt Action or Flames of War for the price of a combat patrol. If you want something more modern there’s Team Yankee WW3.

You're right with your assumption. GW is focusing on the Initial buyer that maybe buys a second boxset. Lot of people that left GW always speak from the hobby trumpet. Meaning a lot of people enter, but only a fraction stays. So raising the ebtry price makes them more money in this theory. ... now we can argue if this is the best way to it, but thats the way I think makes the most sense watching the stuff. Easy to produce, easy to predict.

I feel that the combat patrols should of been army expansions and should of made starter box sets for armies for around $100 US to get new players into the game or for old players to start new armies, probably wouldn't work with how the game is designed now but that's just my two cents

saying 3-5% and raise one thing 25% is definitely a lie. Even if you do not raise some things at all. The price is either raised 0-25% or 3-25%. It would be another thing if they said 3-5% to the whole game, or to a whole range but don't think they said that. GW has always valued their models to twice the actual value. Based on that their profit margin would probably be higher if it where half the price then what it is. And that is because the mayor cost in its production is the change of the tool and heating it to a stable temperature, of course a tool or molde is expensive as well, though probably cheaper now then its ever been because you can 3d print the mold. So if they pressmold 100 sprues an hour with tool/mold change they probably make make 400 sprues for 2 hours. Of course if you only sell 100 of that sprue a week you only keep it up for an hour, or storing it will be expensive, If they lower the price so twice the people can afford it, you have a larger profit on 400 sprues for 2 hours then 100 sprues on 1 hour. If they then make HQ boxes, and charakter boxes with 3-5 models in each, they could sell those for the same price as a normal squad, and not have single models taking up store space. And copy paste stuff will never have any exclusivity as a prime product, As copy paste stuff is easy to replicate, and with technology in plastic probably get a even more superior product in the future. The exclusivity value in the future will be well painted and uniquely converted stuff.

ya i used to kitbash all my own characters with my extra bits to save money! its a great way to avoid the "individual model tax". with a bit of green stuff, and a bits box like mine, most everything turns out, at least as good as the official kits! cheers

Sucks because my wife and I LOVE stopping in to the Warhammer store and purchasing some paint pots or models. The manager is so sweet and she always has some words of wisdom for painting or list building for casual games. I just feel so much guilt paying $50 or more for a box of cultists, that's roughly a dollar per point, just nuts.

This has happened so many times of them increasing the price. Everybody mad and upset with them but in the end games workshop wins because everybody goes back and buys it. There is no Way that no one will stop buying in the end. Like I said victory to games workshop

U.K. prices are better but still very high. Forgeworld has also gone up and most of it is out of stock too. Crazy how they can’t stock their own products. FW is online only too so not like they shipping it to LGS
