You have a 1 year lease. You paid your rent on time for 11 months. Shouldn't at least be you get one month free or half, This country wasn't birth off of something pure. I was injured in a hit and run car accident. I was stopped at a red light, a safe distance from the car in front of me and a giant SUV rammed me going 50 mph. Didn’t have health insurance. Had the hardest time getting to a doctor. I gave up and have no idea if my pain will ever go away or will be with me for life. By the grace of God I was able to ironically drive for DoorDash to “survive” because I can no longer work my usual on the feet customer service jobs. I was on the verge of losing my apartment and ending up homeless because the cops did NOTHING to help me and the system treats me like a criminal for not being able to afford healthcare because full coverage car insurance is astronomically expensive. This situation made me so much more empathetic to the homeless because your life can change in the blink of an eye due to other people’s actions.
I thought car insurance paid out for medical payments? If it was an accident then it’s filed under auto accident. If you didn’t have uninsured motorist than maybe the health insurance would be responsible for coverage. If you ever have auto coverage, uninsured motorist is an absolute necessity. This is even more important if people living out their cars because they in it more than normal. Hope your situation gets better
Thanks for sharing this. I used to volunteer at a homeless shelter on my off season from work and I met soooooo many people that were homeless because of situations like yours. I keep telling people, everyday people can end up in the streets in just one situation. I'm glad you found some gig work to get you through
New sub bro. Hang in there. I was homeless in 2014 after i got out of the marine corps. I put a gun to my head, pulled the trigger and heard a click on my colt .45 1911 that i bought with credit the same day. I realized right then that i had a better purpose... I decided to volunteer at a local volunteer fire dept while living in my trailblazer and they ended up saving my life. They took care of me. They put me through emt school and gave me a place to shower. I ended up going through paramedic school later and worked with an ambulance company called HEMSI in north alabama. I eventually moved on to wildland firefighting in florida as a forest ranger for the florida forest service, and then after that became a police officer for the DOD. Today, I have since achieved over 15 national certifications and have a bachelors degree in atmospheric & earth science from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. I plan on working with the national weather service next year. To this day, that same 1911 has never misfired after thousands of rounds put through it... I am blessed. *It gets better. DON'T QUIT.*

What the hell are you talking about about? A years worth of taxes are way less than paying rent. Plus it depends on where you live. My property taxes were $1200 in Vegas for a $330k home.
@@KP-hi1om Yea. For where YOU live right now. With the way property taxes are going up for people in different cities, who's to say that they won't double or triple in the next few years? I lost my housing twice during the pandemic, and then couldn't afford the skyrocketing rents anymore, so I ended up buying an old Toyota Sienna minivan to live in.

I have seen a few yt videos on homes that are derelict and selling for $1 in areas with a declining population,it would be great if a few homeless folks who are not addicted or mentally ill with skills like plumbing, electrical skills, carpentry etc could pull resources to build one home at a time together with their combined skills to compleat one home for one of the group then move on to the next home to build ,but there has to be a contract that who ever gets the home must still be part of the other builds for the others,no selling of new home with out the group getting their share of the sale, but the whole project would be pointless if that happened ,so trust and commitment must be paramount.

I'm just like you expect in the male aspect. Don't drink, don't smoke, don't gamble, no kids, I cut my own hair, except I don't color it...... I'm also afraid of becoming homeless because, although I wasn't close to homelessness during my childhood, my parents didn't give me anything......especially, once I was legally allowed to work. If I needed anything, I would need to work........and if I didn't, then I would have nothing. And so the fear of ending up with nothing is what keeps me to live very minimalistic.

The thing about making sure your car is ready for homelessness is such an under rated piece of advice. I've been doing this telling people I'm just turning it into a micro camper. Makes me thank God me and my father, mother, brother, 2 sisters, aunts, uncles, & cousins all look out for each other. In my family as long as u work a full-time job someone will open up their door for u during hard times and vice versa. Many homeless people are in the position they are in because they got no close family to turn to or they got way too much pride to ask for help from family and friends. People better swallow their damn pride. Shit........it's too hot in summer and too cold in the winter and too wet in the rain to be homeless. That will NEVER be a choice for me. If I ever end up homeless it is literally because I got no where to go and no family to turn to. I would never make the stupid choice of choosing homelessness to save money. I can save money while still living in a room for rent at a family members house. Hello sir, I just stumbled upon your channel this morning. What’s your talking I would not consider gloom and doom, but it is what I consider a necessary reality grab a hold onto. We are in some unique times and this has been relayed to me by who may have lived a bit longer than you and I. It’s true the economic hardship being experienced is across-the-board all ethnicities and we cannot deny this. It does the black community harder naturally because we are the ones who have been in the most deficit and that’s just the way it is and that’s how it naturally would’ve heard the same before when America catches a cold community catches pneumonia or flu But what you’re doing is definitely necessary and it is a good thing to shake us back to reality and just be aware of what’s going on and put us in the mindset of finding solutions not just for ourselves, but for those in our circle and community. Thank you for the info and the figures and FACTS, peace and blessings to you
On the flip side of renting, I'm retired and own a small rental property but I am a renter elsewhere bc I got a great deal on a rent-controlled apartment years ago and live there because my rent is low . As a landlord, I view my rental property as a business. I keep the rents that I charge below market both because I don't believe in gouging anyone and also I get tenants who stick around longer. I'm not out to scalp anyone, buy I rely on the income to afford to pay my own bills in retirement that social security can't cover, and I take care of my adult daughter who has stage 4 breast cancer. Mom and pop rental property owners are not the enemy. People seem to think that we are rich. Far from it. Most are just regular folks who chose to buy income property years ago. Should I be expected to slash rent to almost free to accommodate the tenants wishes or needs? I'm fair, but I'm not a charity. I don't think people have a realistic view of mom and pop landlords.
I see your channel as informative. People don’t like reality especially when there are negative things going on. People would rather ignore what going on. We should know things good or bad. Ignoring bad things does not make them go away.

Good day sir, I'm a new subscriber today & this homelessness situation here in San Francisco is cold blooded, especially if you live in a older RV...I live near SF State University & near the Stonestown shopping mall, one street had RV's & other vehicles parked on BOTH sides of the street. With the recent crackdowns from the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as the City & County of San Francisco & the State of California, these people were forced to move their vehicles or get them towed...first of all, move them WHERE? Once they were all moved near SF Zoo, the people with expired tags on the vehicles were eventually towed away, with ALL of their stuff. Housing was supposed to be offered BEFORE these motor homes were taken away, but the law enforcement & local governments are heavy handed & heartless. The people living inside these vans are all not "druggie bums." Some are going to the nearby SF State University & sharing the RV with other students, splitting the costs of living there, others are seniors, low income people working inside the nearby mall, single parent with children or newly arrived immigrants. This country has got to do better!
i have close family members who both drive Mercedes but also both have been foreclosed on many times, filed bankruptcy etc. one makes $150k but with the debt and hidden cost of home ownership, they can't afford a flat tire or oil change. by now they are trying to borrow equity from their homes but it is coming... they will end up homeless. i am not wishing this on them but it would take a miracle given their debt and the cost to live. good videos and i agree w/ you van life is better than street life!
Sound like to me these people's is living above their means. Why would someone own a car that cannot buy tires or oil change. Just a simply car will get you to point A to point B.
This man is spot on and took out all of the superfluous BS that confuses simple minds. Pay off your home snd debt. There’s no other avenue to achieving peace of mind and sleeping well. SUBBED!
There’s a great book (textbook style, not an entertainment read, unless you’re a geek like me) entitled “Living Downtown, the history of residential hotels in the US” by Paul Groth, and it goes into how before the big urban renewal pushes of the past however many decades, there was a pretty adequate supply of cheap, clean, efficient housing in the way of weekly hotels in cities. They’re sometimes called bachelor hotels, SROs (in California) or single room occupancy units, and they were in the more run down neighborhoods by downtown, and people lived in them as they would an apartment. There was no kitchen- often there was a communal kitchen which either the residents could use, or in cases the hotel would have staff who made meals. Often there were several bathrooms and showers on each floor for the rooms on each level, as most units didn’t have their own bathroom, either, but rather had a bathroom sink area in the rooms. Some larger rooms may have their own bathrooms, but largely not. Each floor had its own trash room where residents brought their trash to be taken out, and some buildings may have a light maid service weekly to change the sheets, take out the trash, etc. There was a front desk which managed the building, received and held mail for residents to pick up, and controlled whom was coming into and out of the premises. This was very efficient/no frills living, but it was a reliable place for people on the lowest rungs of the socioeconomic ladder to live, and people did live in such places for years, and as such, buildings often had a pretty tight community of neighbors who looked out for each other and provided friendship, etc. Once urban renewal efforts started, these buildings and the neighborhoods they were in were the first targets for being bought, torn down, and a myriad other projects put in their place, be it big convention centers, parks, parking structures, etc. Residents who once could rely on housing being available for their level of means now had fewer and fewer options, and the remaining buildings could raise their rates since they were more in demand as supply decreased. It’s a direct correlation between urban homelessness becoming visible in the 1980s and these renewal efforts changing the housing landscape in cities. We certainly need more of that kind of housing, BUT there’s almost no housing being created for people with low incomes or even average incomes- it’s all luxury housing coming into the market, so builders can capture the highest payout for what they’ve built, and playing devil’s advocate, one can understand their standpoint, since building or developing anything in many big cities has become so mired down with costs from fees, applications, studies, taxes, etc… so they go into the role of building and developing with the mindset that the ONLY thing worth building is high end, luxury housing. Without the serious prioritization of housing for low and average income people, I don’t see any improvement in the situation coming anywhere on the horizon.
One of the biggest issues I run across in my daily life talking to people who used to be middle class still think they are when they aren't. They are poor and don't realize or don't want to realize. Just a few days ago some guy told me he has a family of 4 and their combined income is around 110k per year that's him and his wife working and having teenage kids and he is appalled at how he can't make ends meet. That's because the family of four today that make 250k combined are in the low middle- class. The real middle-class today is people who earn 340-500k per year combined for a family of 4. These are the people who will comfortably send their kids to college while feeding themselves well and buying new vehicles every few years and of course a few cruises to the Bahamas per year. 1 million per year you are low rich class. That's right you aren't even rich at 1 million per year. Basically, nobody is middle class anymore
As I mentioned to many people, many times before. They are intentionally destroying the middle class. The rich will stay rich. The middle class shall become the poor and the poor will become the new homeless. One will either be rich or one will be poor. There will no longer be an "in-between" class. It's all being done by design.
People will say its dope or mental illness, but the more people I see, the more I understand it is the economy and cost of living. If you pay attention, you will see families, couples and individuals alike, living in parking lots with apartments inside of vans and cars.
I am going to save 85% percent of each of my work job paychecks after watching this video ! 💵 In the Summer months I can live in a van down by the river, with my camping tent, no rent and self-defense tools.
Ive been homeless for 3 years im 28 and saved 110k i save like 4k a month living in a car and fishing and living in a tent by a river. I put all the money in a hysa gain 400 a month on it i only invest in my roth s n p 500
I legally can't drive because of a medical attention. That can keep someone from owning a driving license. My driver's license was taken by government months ago and it wasn't fair but that's just how the government did it. So, I can't drive anymore
Currently there are 300K unemployed in the city of Toronto 🇨🇦 they say you need to make $34 per hour to be able to afford a 1 bedroom which costs $2600 a month to rent it’s insane here. High housing costs and stale wages are driving homelessness
I’m sick of hearing about people complain about not being able to make life work on six figure salaries. Are you kidding me? I’d live like an absolute king on six figures. You’re all doing something very wrong if you can’t make 100k+/yr. work for you. Too many people out there clueless about proper money management. 100k a year is still plenty to create a pretty decent life for yourself.

@rpd2787 Yay these r bums that’s why the world is full of trash ppl like these bums don’t want responsibility they would live off someone and sleep on the floor
You know why? It's a high debt and taxation country. The more you make the more taxes you pay not just in payroll but all forms of taxation. The remaining balance is used to service loans and debt. The country is a SCAM.
The places where the 100k jobs are the cost of living is way higher too. It’s the % of cost of living that’s the issue. If it’s taking 75%+ of what everyone earns it doesn’t matter how much you make.
@@Halleth are people doing the math though? Let’s be generous and say someone is paying $2000 on rent per month. That’s $24,000/yr. People spend the majority of their paycheck on rent/mortgage so where is the other $76,000 (majority of their income) going? 🥴 My husband and I live on $35,000 yr with two active growing pets (eat a LOT) and we also eat organic and grass fed meat on that budget so I don’t get it 🤷♀️
I agree. It would be even better if it was equipped with a front and rear hitch for additional space and an interior steel security panel behind the front seats with bars on the windows.
