Christian Coleman is now the new world's fastest man. In this video we take a look at the real reasons why Coleman dominates his opponents on the track.
The truth is a combination of factors. He has an unorthodox style that is geared specifically to his strengths, namely his reaction time, stride frequency and the sheer power his legs can generate, which gives him unprecedented acceleration both out the blocks and the drive phase. His stride frequency and leg power give him 'good enough' staying power at the end of a race but his style actively takes away from this portion of the race, hence why he's a WR holder in the 60m but hasn't come close to the WR in the 100m. Of course, based on my current knowledge of the doping scandal he's in, it's reasonable to assume his superior leg power can be (at least) partially attributed to whatever juice he's on. And I think it bears mentioning that if he ran in the race in which Bolt set the 100m WR, he would've struggled to get a podium finish with the likes of Tyson Gay in the race, amongst others. Heck, Bolt ran the first 60m of that race faster than Coleman's 60m WR.
@@letloveguardwellington2180 , I don't think it's rumor, it's not major news because track n field is really not a major sport in the his country. But you will hear more about it when track n field start up again, just remember Ben Johnson was the same height and size.
🙄 Christian is the only man on the planet to run 9.7 since 2015, and he is continuing to work on his speed endurance. Call me when someone else hits 9.85, let alone 9.80.
Within relatively normal human ranges, height is going to have next to no influence on speed. All height does is give you a different set of biomechanical patterns to master and a skilled coach will understand how a taller sprinter moves differently (not necessarily faster) than a shorter sprinter and how to train the respective sprinter. It's like a suit, a skilled tailor will make it fit you. Shorter limbs might have an advantage with stride frequency, but unless the sprinter has the ground force production and rate of impulse to not have their stride length suffer greatly, it wont matter. Stride length is determined by how much force you can apply to the ground, within the +- 0.1sec timeframe, at an elite level; it's a combination of both factors, not one or the other. Coleman has an extremely rapid rate of impulse, is neurologically efficient and has developed a technique that works for his biomechanics; a short sprinter with a taller sprinter's technique will not sprint optimally and vice versa.
@Oliver McCall You kill me, I love it when someone goes on with a paragraph of info, and then someone has a three word reply that kills it.....oh and I'm also black.
Yeah, but isn’t it also personal preference? Like, a longer stride means you need more force to propel forward right? So why can’t a fairly tall guy just use shorter strides compared to his height and aberahe
No proof Coleman is a drug cheat. Coleman agreed to meet to have the drug tests done. Coleman said there was no evidence of testing agents checking in where he was staying or knocking at his foor. The drug testing agents should be on camera entering and leaving the apartments etc. It's like they were trying to miss him. Let's see what happens in the future💯
@@wakeupworld100 The proof that Coleman is a drug cheat is that he keeps missing drug tests. You can make up all the excuses in the world but that does not change the fact that Christian keeps finding ways to not be home when the testers come around. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why he does not want to be tested.
I'll I'm seeing everywhere is excuses not one, not two but three missed drug tests can u believe d lousy excuses from Coleman himself n his fans anytime u hear people with these excuses check their personal lives same thing excuses when their wrong, excuses for being late fo work just excuses smh.
@@yadoo8164 I was teammates in college with Stacy Dragila, gold medalist in the pole vault at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. She never missed a test, because she's clean.
Yea lmao they’re all on some form of PEDS. Coleman is also a freak who has insane reaction time and turnover. It’s kinda like how Usain bolt was a freak in all aspects of the race without even having really good form, and having slight scoliosis.
Did this video forget about Ben Johnson for a while? He had a legal reaction time of 0.099 which later deemed a false start but it actually wasn't. and he is still in the top 10 fastest ever.
@@TrackandFieldNation I get it, but it's misleading. The video says "his personal best in high school of 11 seconds." That is not true. Otherwise, a pretty good vid.👍🏾
He's partially also this fast because of his proportions and resulting weight distribution. Out of the blocks, more of his overall body weight is close to his center of gravity, so more of his power is transferred to his drive phase because less of the angular momentum generated is needed to counteract the downward acceleration of gravity. This results in a higher power-to-mass ratio. An adjacent example of a similar governing principle of physics can be seen when a spinning object contracts its radius - as the radius contracts, the object spins faster due to the conservation of angular momentum. A larger percentage of his body length and weight is employed in his motor-mechanics as well (i.e. more of his height is leg and more of his weight is muscle in comparison to other sprinters) so there is less "dead weight" or non-contributing mass in the vehicle. This results in the combination of stride length and stride power being uniquely close to optimal for sprinting at his body size.
Coleman is a beast. Whether using dope or not, he entertains. It doesn't hurt my ego saying that him and Noah Lyles made the 100m/the last 100m interesting.
Well maybe, I usually try to keep away from this part of the sport...it's really disheartening when names carrying athletics find themselves in this predicament.
@@TrackandFieldNation Since they know the rules and have managers and promoters and are big boys and girls who are potentially ripping people off then it's in the public interest to make other athletes - especially young athletes - aware of the situation. These liars should be known.
Well i am italian and at the age 17-18 i run my first 100 mt without any training before. I did 12.04 and then 11.90 I never run again because i finished the school and i went to university. I want to tell this because if i was doping…imagine… so Coleman is a monster of genetic, imagine the extra power he can reach with doping
He missed 3 out of 40 drug tests in a span of a year. One of he was informed of, one he was 10mins late snd 1 he genuinely missed. Context is a wonderful thing.
It's been announced that he can not be found to take an out of competition drug test. This is the 2nd time in 2 years. They're not saying that about anyone else...
Here we go again. Height has little to almost nothing to do with sprinting. You guys really need to stop listening & reiterating things you hear from people on tv that don't know what they are talking about!
You say he beat Bolt as if he was better, he wasn't. Bolt was on his retirement tour and still owns the World Record. The kid is the best right now, but he still has to do it on the big stage at the Olympics multiple times, before he will ever be in Bolts or Lewis's class......In my opinion:)
Another young athlete is banned for missing drug test. Three test she missed Coleman is missing test as he wished and yet to get an hour ban for his misconduct
All of his accomplishments is in QUESTION due to his failed whereabouts for random drug testing in and out of competition..... He is a Mega international superstar one who has an agent, manager, a coach and a trainer and one and/or, all of them should have told him the importance of giving your whereabouts with a one hour open window to this organization.
I know many of you think he was doping but when you see how many times he was tested during the time frame he missed three test you will see that it is not likely he was doping. He passed 13 test!
The real truth behind his speed, is he keeps missing *dope tests,* on purpose. *Coleman* is playing with everyone's intelligence and *Wada's.* I'm sorry but *Coleman* should be banned from athletics, no less than four years.....🤔
@66fredo99 la France Anyone that dopes should receive lifetime bans, first time. They've proved, without a doubt, that they do not possess character to compete without cheating. This two and four year ban shit is basically saying, "Hey, let's see if you can get away with it. If you do, you'll win competitions. If you don't, you'll win a vacation." Start banning these fools for life and when their money source is at risk, they'll stop doping. Or they'll dope and be banned forever.
I'm sorry there is no proof Coleman is a drug cheat.
Christian Coleman needs to work on his endurance for the whole 100 and beyond because he starts to fade the last 30 meters or so every now and then, he starts to tighten up around his upper body it's like his arms movements going across his chest instead of his sides.
Nothing would happen? Yes lots of the top ten are taller than him but the average Olympic sprinter is 5”9 so he’s the best height, usain was a once in a lifetime phenomenon, tall sprinter his size aren’t good bolt was just lucky
HYENA 1 WORLD MUSIC lets be real here Jamaican athletes given their training situation don’t even have to get tested nearly as much as the US ones. Definitely not saying Coleman is clean, he’s not. But Bolt definitely wasn’t clean either nor are any of the top sprinters. That said since they all do it I think the field is fair and if all were clean bolt probably would still be the fastest. The majority of cheaters don’t get caught as the science of cheating is always two steps ahead of testing. Getting caught is pretty hard if your doing it right. That’s why many times when they do get caught it’s a positive test on a sample that’s years old or someone in their camp rats them out if there is some conflict.
Speed is 85-90%" God given" so when you see a Sprinter(less than 200m) start beating runners that use to beat them ....by -2-3 strides. They are cheating.
Not at all. When fast people get into it, fast females without much training are low 12 seconds, and fast males without much training are low 11 second sprinters. It take training, repetition to improve to be world class. No one came out of their mothers womb as a world class athelete, it was always built as a result of training and the actions they chose. It takes years and years of development to improve to this point. So one who was more gifted out of the womb but lazy, doesn't train much vs one who was decently gifted who trains and improves all year long will lose to the one whose always improving.
@@dennisrobinson8008 Sprint races such as the 100m race is less than 11 seconds for top world class women athletes(e.g. Shelly Ann Frazier). The men's 100 men is less 9.5 seconds As a direct result, there is very little room for "large" decrease in race time. Races over 400m that require more "endurance" vs "speed" have much higher probability for large decrease in race time. As a former sprinter, this is a fact....cheaters are recognized by fellow sprinter's quickly.
@@daw7773 Do you actually believe Shelly Anne Frazier Price never trained and it took her one year to reach her current times? Once an athelete is ELITE there is not a lot of drop available, but if an athlete is new or young in the game there is plenty of drop available A fast guy whose never trained might run low to mid 11 seconds. And a fast lady whose not trained might run low to mid 12's. Everything below that is due to the training effect. And of course, once you are elite there is not much room for drop unless in a part of your race you are doing something really stupid and inefficient. What i'm trying to get you non athletes to understand is it took years to get to that level, no one came out of their mothers womb, and never competed and never trained and ran 10.0 in the 100m and no female never trained and never competed ever ran 11.0 in the 100m. There are plenty of men who came into the game even slower, mid 12's and WORKED to mid 11's in a few years, and WORKED to mid 10's a few years later, and ladies came in 13 seconds or worse, a couple of years trained then mid 12's a couple of more years of training and mid 11's.
That being said Coleman never made any massive increase as a pro. He left college as a 6.45 60m man. In high school he has a recorded time of 11.5 when he was new and got it down to mid 10's before leaving. This is normal for a sprinter on the "elite" path.
That also being said, the training effect is not "god given" that is a function of putting in the required effort to reap the results. People want all this skill without having to earn it. Everyone had to earn their level, some just started out at higher levels.
He is certainly quick. However, he won't be impressive until he dips below 9.69. Until then, for the Bolt, Gay and Blake fans, he is just MEH! There will always be a new, faster guy when the older kings start fading. Bolt's time was up as his times showed it. Gay's was up. Yohan simply played himself and also injury related issues. Although extremely impressive for his age, DRUGstin was a cheat. So again, MEH!
@@davidswann7017 well they need to say he is the fastest man 2019 - 2020 but dont just say he is the fastest man because he is not they need to say it the right way
