I was a Hoonigan fan long before I knew about DDE. This story is so wild and tugs hard on the heart strings for the unfortunate decline of their brand, but I am SO HAPPY for DDE to revitalize this spot and grow.
Hoonigan is dead, thanks to wheel pros. DDE is the real deal! Time to unsubscribed from Hoonigan and show wheel pros that we the people are the ones who drive there revenue.
Moving to the Hoonigan building is such a brilliant move. I have so much respect for everyone that made it possible. Make the building yours but please make sure to continue honouring Ken’s contribution to the car fan community. This is such a perfect match!
Just a tip on the store area. The sprinkler system main pipes are in that room. They crack sometimes and flood the room and damage products. Just check the bolts and look for cracks in the clamp collars that hold it together because they have cracked and released all of the water. But simply maintenance will stop anything from happening.
That should've been repaired professionally before subleasing the space out to someone. as DDE is only sub leasing the original leaser is responsible for that. If DDE breaks it then they're obviously responsible.
The store area would have the lowest value items out of literally everything else. I have a shopping mall with sprinklers installed in 1971. Everything is just fine. Theirs will be just fine.
It would make sense for Mike to move his shop here, and help with the cost of the lease. then he can keep an eye on his business as well as work for DDE and he'd have more hands if they needed help on a project as they'd be close by. This could be a real benefit to all involved and build both of their brands.
Mike does not have a shop. The man that owns the shop, the guy Let him do work there.. and no they don't need him working on other cars at this shop.. mike could not afford it any way.. trust me, the rent at this new place cost more a month then mike probably makes in 3 to 6 months with DDE.
Maybe I'm out of the loop, but this is how I'm learning Hoonigan moved out of this building. I'm saddened to find out about it this way, but I'm happy for these dudes for keeping an ace location for car content alive.
Honestly, me too dude I swear they didn’t even have like a blowout sale or nothing or like a one last get together type of car meet at the building like nothing Ken was really the glue that held that company together

No way….. I just got goosebumps… my mom had that same framed portrait of the queen doing the knighting hanging above our fire place at the house for years. She loved that thing and when their house got broken into someone stole it. After losing both my parents last year, mom to cancer and dad to a heart attack, seeing that just now in the video, holy crap that shook me. I’m literally at a loss for words right now.
Seriously though. There are so many offices that it would make sense to turn 2 or 3 into bedrooms so people don't have to drive home after a long day of shooting or editing or whatever. What a great building to move into for DDE. LOVE IT

I called this in the comments section of two previous videos. I knew they were gone last month and one video you guys put out foreshadowed it like crazy when you were all in a huddle eluding to something. I’m glad you guys got it! There’s no one else more deserving! I mean COME ON-you guys employ an FD Champion and Damon loves to hoon. I’m proud of the success of the channel and I wish guys the absolute best❤️ every bad day becomes a good day with a DDE video.
I am glad you guys showed this. It rounded off the experience and provided the knowledge of transparency. Yesterdays video, showing the big DDE stuff on the wall, I was wondering if this was the cards all along and the last month of tension videos were a little forced. I still can't believe you got this location. What a great set of circumstances that came together to get DDE into such a perfect location. Truly meant to be. DDE is going to rock the show in 2024 - and beyond. Think of the events DDE can hold now at their OWN location! Meet ups, rallies, SO many options are possible now that home base can accommodate such a wide variety of things. DDE needs to start an annual tradition/event in 2024. Ken Block is looking down with a smile, knowing his legacy is in good hands, and that he'll never be forgotten.

Watching DDE from the outside in, I'm so happy that they've got the stories channel so we can be part of the journey of going through the process such as this. I'm as excited as the guys! Taking some risk to grow is the right direction for DDE. They have built a good team that not only create the cars, but each are good in the videos and video production. The past few videos on the main and stories channels have been exciting as a follower.
I remember there was a video you showed Damon that a certain "building" was available. As soon as I saw the reaction I knew it was Hoonigan's building, I think Damon said something like "Where are they going to?", cause what other building would it matter to say that. So you totally gave it away. But congrats on the new digs.
I don't know if this is coded for co-residential or not, but if it is, I'd maybe turn one of the offices into a shower room, with a couple of stalls, and maybe stay here when you are in Cali as opposed to spending bucks on a hotel. Spring for a maid and you'd have a living space right next to your work area. It's unlikely that you'd need all that office space for office work, so using it to save you money on cost-of-living would be dope.

I think Ken smiled a lil seeing DDE get the Hoonigan building. There couldn't be a more perfect person or company to take the building than Damon and Dave and DDE. We know how much Ken and Hoonigan inspired Damon and it's a beautiful thing to see the crew with the van doing donuts and hooning in the burn yard to now calling it home, most hype thing on YT is seeing what DDE does with all the space and opportunities of the building. Congratulations boys.
It would be cool to have a video when shop headquarters is done to get all them to come back for atour! Lia Block too. Plus i would love to see a mural of Ken on a wall in the new place

Having visited Hoonigan multiple times and attending events all the way from the East Coast. I brought my employees to the shop when we made business trips to CA. I can tell you the vibe from the old shop by the school to this space just felt different. Car people will help you make this the best place on the internet it it does some things right. Make it feel accessible to anyone who just wants a peak at DDE. Don't make it feel corporate. Be ready to staff up. Use excess space for a incubator space for new RU-vidrs or car related start-ups. Build a space for Sim racers and then turn them loose in a real car. The more it feels like a place for car people the more money we will bring you. And most of will not care about where it is located. Seriously saw on of those truck drivers making out with his cat the last time I was there. I'll still come as soon as you let me and I'll buy whatever you got, cause that's the best way I can support you. Hoonigan forgot that.
Ik the other building wasn’t the end spot, when you guys started putting money into it (like lights) I saw it as a bad investment. So happy you guys are where you’re at now, congratulations!
I wouldn’t consider it a “bad investment” considering where its lead them. Lighting is crucial in the videos and the interior was old so it had to be changed. To be fair, it was loved, they stayed for quite awhile, and they were still pushing cash from the videos in that building. Even this new Hoonigan building, they would only be able to showcase about a good 30-40% of the whole building considering the amount of space that a lot of it isn’t even all that necessary.

Ive been crying for 2 days. The amount of gratitude I have to you and the all amazing people in this circle of life for keeping the LOVE and Honor and Respect of taking that building and keeping the memory of Ken Alive in the most Appropriate manner possible. As an adult man you really have been crying for 2 days that DDE took over a rented warehouse? I mean i get the connection but its just a warehouse its not like they kept hoonigan in the space or did anything sentimental for Ken and his family. I thought it was kind of weird that it was a year exactly after kens death and they are taking the warehouse over... like in one year the brand Ken built is crumbling to the point they had to vacate their building and who know what else

Looking forward to seeing DDE growing into the new HQ. Good step up. I like that you have plenty of space for the cars at ground level and no immediate need to have any stacker lifts. Also seeing the new area for the shop and fabrication is going to make car builds and servicing a lot easier to do. This will allow you to take DDE up to the next level.
Dave and Damon; when you are ready to get your retail store up and running, I'd be more than happy to manage it! ;) I love this move, it is definitely a game-changer and am so excited to see what you guys do with the place!
I would change all lights to high-performance energy-efficient LEDs, install battery packs inside for basic amenities, and store excess energy generated by the solar panels installed on the roof that would also provide hot water for heating and cooling. This alone would save me like 5k per month at least if not more. Possibly sublet some area of the warehouse to offices and or storage. This would bring another 5-8k per month if not more. If there is an area inside the warehouse that wouldn't be used I would convert them into offices and rent it out to someone. Excess energy could be sold to the country or supplier, which could be another 4-5k income depending on the quality of the panels installed.

Good work Dave! With all the offices, if allowed, you should sub lease the unused offices and have a conference room for a shared space. It could be a good way to generate some Revenue.
AWESOME you guys ended up with the building. It's sad what happened to Hoonigan. After Ken passed it really seems like things went off the rails. I know the deals were made earlier, but it still seems like stuff really went bad afterwards. DDE will bring life back to the building!!
