Love the new short hair cut!! She knows how to take care of her hair, so it will grow back super long in no time. Bleach is hair suicide. I don’t care what any RU-vidrs say. People with coarser strands can sustain it a little better in terms of thickness/volume but even their hair looks super dry when they zoom in. I respect her for being honest. Most YT’s try to swear it doesn’t damage their hair or change their curl pattern. All lies. Just say you want to bleach your hair and you don’t care if it gets damaged. That’s what I did years ago and I learned my lesson.
Thank you love! and yes, so true. I find a lot of people are so embarrassed to say that their hair is damaged because people look up to them for hair advice but, lets be honest, its rare to see a healthy blonde. I enjoy being transparent. :) and thanks for watching my journey 😘
Post Partum shedding is no joke honey, I'm glad you opted for healthy hair over transitioning. Sometimes transitioning seems to draw out negative emotions attached to the process, plus there is such a wide array of hairstyle options when you are growing out. Your haircut is gorgeous and suits you very well! Linwood
Thank you Linwood! You're so right about transitioning, at least its true in many cases. I'm loving my short hair now, though! and sidetone: I love your channel! 🙌🏼
There is so much emphasis on growing long hair in the natural hair community. Short, healthy & stylish can be a destiny as well. A lot less time consuming too. Cut looks great on you! Lots of inspo for shorties.
All of us professionals know the risk before using bleach to lift with any volume activator. It permanently leaves the hair strands more vulnerable to even further damage. And very rarely will you have healthy blonde/ light brown hair when you’re lifting from levels 1-3. I always tell clients if you want to do high lift, be prepared to eventually lose some length 🤷🏾♀️
Deja Bolton I’m not going to keep going back and forth, schooling people in the comments about when hair is damaged, it’s damaged. The end. The only thing conditioners do is disguise it, but never build the hair back up. My cuticles were blown two weeks later. The end. I know what my hair went through. I just don’t understand the need to question my truth. 🤷🏻♀️
@@YoursNaturally11 Thank you for updating us on what led to your decision to big chop again. We truly appreciate your honest sharing! Many times a question or comment is made by others that seems adamant. Yet, it's possible that the person is conflicted. On the one hand they are trying to understand, grapple with or internalize an idea or concept that is foreign, and on the other hand they believe something strongly that conflicts with the new information. Sometimes new ideas just require repetition, & time to be fully accepted.
I can relate girl I’ve been watching your videos for years, I just cut my hair for the 6th time yesterday. I have alopecia My curls have changed and basically left me, it is thinning, dry and shedding.... I am now debating if I want to start this journey over again. I see a dermatologist and I see a dietitian soon. I’ve been to a trichologist last month. My hair and body are fighting each other. I’m glad you shared your story with us. I appreciate your honesty. I even got a deva cut 2 months ago hoping to save my fine hair as well. I was a 4a/4b I’m now a 4c and straight in the front. I have watched your hair bounce back so many times. You will be back to your hair glory soon. You give me hope💕 I can’t wait to see your progress.
I'm so sorry that you are going through this; I'm hoping for the best for you through this journey. Thank you for staying positive, even during this trying time for you. I really appreciate your loyal support. Fingers crossed and hands together for a solution and much love your way 😘❤️
I remember when I first big chopped my hair I hated it because I didn’t feel confident so I went almost two years without ever wearing my real hair out because my hair had never been that short, every time I’d put hair extensions in then take them out then put them back in . But now that my hair has gotten so much longer I can truly say that it was all worth it I just wish I’d done it sooner. Your hair will grow back , I love the new look❤️❤️
Girl, I totally feel you on wanting to color my hair blonde so badly. I always think about it but then one day I was just like, it’s not worth it. I’ve colored my hair and bleached my natural hair so much that I know it’s gonna turn out damaged. It’s been years since I’ve had to cut out the heat damage, but I’ve definitely had to big chop more than once. It’s okay, your not alone! 💕
I literally just cut my hair just like this the other day after 4 years of growing it out. I was loosing hair like crazy these past few months and just decided to go for it. I’m glad I came across your channel! 💕
I’m so glad you decided to big chop! I noticed a huge difference in your hair in your last four or five videos, but never wanted to mention it. There was definitely a difference in it, however, you’re on the road to recovery! 🙌🏾
I just discovered your channel a few days ago; you've saved my curls! I did the big chop in July and got an A-LINE cut. Loved it straight but had no idea what to do with the short curls. So I straightened it... A lot. Thank God no heat damage. So I found your channel a few days ago and tried your night routine and the shingling method...I have never seen my curls pop in this way! I am so happy! Thank you so much for your videos; definitely recommending to my other curly girls ❤️
New tapered cut and style is really cute on you! The way your hair falls into your face now looks hotter than the framing of your face w/ the big bang cut. WERK!
As someone who typically prefers longer hair... I must say I absolutely LOVE this cut. Like seriously... it’s so so adorable and flattering on you! I’m in Louisiana too. ☺️
Omg I did my third big chop in March 2018. I pray to God that this will be my last big chop. My hair has been flourishing. I’m excited for the both of us!
Girl!!! I have been on the struggle bus with my hair as well! I also have 3 kids and had excessive shedding on top of having already fine hair. I made the decision on a Monday and went to get it cut on Tuesday! It's a process trying to re-learn my hair but I'm enjoying the journey with this new TWA.
Your hair looks sooo healthy. I have crazy damaged hair that I am holding on to. I've never big chopped. But let me mid back hair grow and clip the ends when I started my natural hairjourney 8 years ago. Now fast forward to bleached dyed and fried natural hair (a terrible birthday mistake)...watching your video is helping me work up to the inevitable. Thank you so much for being transparent.
yes yes yes!!!! Love how open you were about this!!! ummmmm okay so i'd like to see more collabs haha!! Your hair looks great btw and can't wait to see this new journey for you!
I know you've been through a lot with your hair lately, but on the bright side- you look DOPE with this short cut. I'm so glad you didn't hold on to the damage and I'm looking forward to your new hair journey and all the new hair videos you will be making ❤.
Yayyy we can start over with eachother again!! I big chopped again in april but our journeys have been similar this entire time lol CheersToNewBeginnings🎉❤️
Really glad u did this video. I have the finest hair in the world and was always so envious of yours so nice to know yours was fine too. Your hair looks really cute like that too ❤️❤️
You are so beautiful, short, long , bald.....your beauty is unaffected! I feel you on the stress of knowing your hair is going through it.... I did the same going from virgin natural to multi shades of red no lift... loved it but over time my hair said naw can”t take it! So gradually cut 4 yrs (whole head of healthy natural hair) off! So the only color will be semi permanent! Love your channel keep it come,we are here for it! Please do yourself a favor anyone coming for you about your choices for your hair or being critical of your mane.... stop don’t read and don’t stroke their ego by even commenting on there attack. Any person knows the stress one feels when their hair is going through it... no one needs to come at you for it!
I was in the same position 5 years natural, confident and ready to take it to the next level! I just couldn’t bounce back after the color! A professional stylist once told me if I ever want color, that’s what they make weave for. Stylist just don’t get enough experience with coloring NATURAL LONG hair. But it will grow back
This is beautiful!!! You can see in your expression how relieved you are. Like I relate so much! It's something you dont even have to prepare for its just something you know and you do. And its not huge its just needed. I love your hair short!! Inspiring
We are all beautiful with or without hair. There was no excuse necessary, but thanks for sharing your story. I definitely understand. I have been natural since 2006, but I have chopped off all of my hair too many times to count because I made my share of natural hair no-nos. I have finally learned my lesson, and I'm growing out my natural hair again. I have enough pictures to remind me to just leave my hair alone whenever I have the itch to get my hair straightened, dyed, cut in a "style," or whatever.
I love it! I was debating on cutting my hair, now after seeing you and Jessica videos, I’m ready to let my damaged hair go! Thank you for sharing your story!!!
Hi, Ashley the Supermodel and Super Mom! I found your channel a few months ago and want to thank you for the transparency in your video content. First, kudos to you for nursing your child(ren), so many women do not or wish to make any perceived sacrifice for their child’s long term health.🤱🏽 Secondly, it’s okay to start fresh- the new haircut looks amazing on you, and if you wish to maintain short hair (I did for two years), the point is that it’s healthy and fits your lifestyle. Lastly, I BC’d twice (1/2011, 6/1/2014) after bouts of serious illness. Life doesn’t always happen as we like, but we become better people as a result. Minute 9 described how I felt after my second BC, and more prepared to face my healing process. Many hugs to you from Tennessee:)! 😊🏆🏆😊👊🏽👊🏽
Naturally Awesome Fitness wtf ???? Not all women have the time or ability to breast feed . get off your high horse and stop mom shaming. It’s horrible that people are ashamed to admit that they use PERFECTLY FINE formula because we have moms with your mindset
Notification 1! I absolutely love all your styles in the past but that new chop is all that! I really love it and I absolutely agree about damaged hair. Much love and hell the vids coming 👍
Yeyyyyy I completely agree, I went through the same thing minus the baby...my hair was extremely damaged, dry , crunchy and hard....falling out at the touch from bleaching because I got bored and went blonde, the hairdresser kept the bleach in for a hour!😩 I went back and told her “get the clippers and let’s go to work!!” I was very calm and ready and she was like “wow how are you not crying??” I said although I love my hair like my child lol I am not the type of person that holds on to dead weight, it’ll grow back with gods grace....your a great inspiration!! New subbie! Can’t wait for more. Ps. We also have to same hair texture lol
Your hair looks great!! Love the cut! One piece of advice is to live your best life with your natural hair. I'm over a lot of the rules for our hair and it's inevitable that if someone other than myself colors my hair, it isn't done right so I'm a fan of box color where others aren't. Lol, I'll live.
I love the shape and style of your hair! I fell off my regimen as well and just cut a few inches so I can restart my journey. Looking forward to seeing your journey!
This video came up in my suggestions today. I'm so glad I watched. I appreciate your honesty. I've subscribed because I want to watch your journey and learn. I would love to see how you achieved this style. I cut my hair into a tapered style a year ago and i'm ready to cut it again lol. I love the simplicity and how stylish it is! Excited to watch your progress!
LOVE the shape of your cut!! I just cut 3-inches of dead ends off two days ago. I finally realized I had to let go in order to save my hair!! I'll be going along with you on the journey back!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Yes ma'am. I believe in not holding on to damaged hair. I got mine trimmed a couple weeks ago cuz I had split ends. Before that, I chopped a 2nd time after I did transition from heat damage. My hubby was tryna convince me to hold on to it, but I had to explain it to him in cornbread language that it's dead, it's gotta go and it'll grow back. That trim made me feel so much better and my hair feels better too. I do color my hair, but nothing drastic like light brown or blonde. Auburn is as light as I go. I'm not mad at anybody who chopped for the 2nd or the 50-11teenth time. It'll grow back and if not, there are wigs that don't look like grandma Moses.
My hubby hates when I want to trim my hair too. But I tell him that if doesn't get trimmed it's just going to break off and look worse and I'll have to cut more off.
@@jenniferclaudio8937 Men kill me with *their* demands for our hair but we have to put in the work and have no clue. So-called tryna educate us on *our* hair. My husband stopped trying cuz, as he says and knows, "You gon do what you want anyway." Yup! 😁
Your hair is adorable. I cut all my hair off last week, so I know exactly where you are coming from. I don’t care about cutting my hair. I will always choose health over length.
I luv it. Yep im that person. Gotta do a big chop. Hair still havent recovered from bleach. Kept thinning. Protein treatment didnt work. So stringy limp hair has to go. Ugh this weekend. :-(. My best hair is healthy hair. Im going for it. Thanks Poo!
I completely agree that transitioning can bring false hope. My hair is now the length that is was when I big chopped my relaxed hair but it is 10x healthier. No point in hanging on to unhealthy hair for the length. Their is beauty in all lengths as long as its healthy.
I'm sorry that happened. I just chopped about 7 inches off my hair to remove past chemical processing. I didn't want to but like you I feel that damaged hair should not be held onto. But I'm super happy with it now that it is totally healthy and it behaves better. Yours looks very chic in that style and such beautiful coils :-)
You have been such an inspiration for me in my natural hair journey. I hate transitioning and the best decision I made was to do a big chop. Super excited for short hair videos! I absolutely love your cut ❤️
I’m not natural but I really understand how you feel with knowing that if the hair is beyond repair just cut it off so I’m about to chop my hair off as well and I’m thinking about doing it in New Orleans because I really don’t know good ones in BR but I agree with you 100% it’s no point with holding on to dead hair
Yass. I believe the same thing I don’t care about length. Having healthy curls is way more precious to me. I did a big chop as well but the thing is I had longer hair before so I don’t really know how to style my short hair well. If you had any tips on styling I’d really appreciate it. Your looks amazing I’d happy you decided to cut of the damaged hair. 😆😆
I love it! That cut suits you! I big chopped (#2) last year and ran across your channel. Your 2016 big chop video really inspired me. I’m excited to be on this journey with you!!! Btw I love your sister’s cut too!! You all should do another video together this time featuring a routine with short hair.
I am a new subscriber. I am so glad I came across your channel and you look marvelous. Thank you for sharing your big chop stories. It’s inspirational 🙋🏽
healthy hair over length is always the better way. i had to do a second big chop on my hair too. i was a little sad but calm because at the end of the day the hair will grow back and be healthier than before. i love this cut on you btw 💕
I love love love and appreciate this video so much. I can appreciate everything you said and definitely relate. I’m a mom, military wife and this year has been stressful. I cut my hair off. All of it and I love it and I cannot wait to follow on this hair journey with you. Your hair cut looks nice. I love it.
I’m sorry this happened to you but I’m glad you’ve figured it out! This haircut looks AMAZING on you! My mom has always told me to cut dead hair. It’s not worth it. And it looks terrible! I dyed my hair for the first time about a year and a half ago. But my stylist REALLY knows what she’s doing. At her previous salon she did all the color corrections. So I trust her and my hair has been fine with highlights (partial). But he second she retires I’ll never get color again lol
Thanks for the video!!!! And again love the new cut!!!! I would hope no one would get offended by this video, but I’m sure someone will. Either way it’s something someone of us need to here. It’s nice to know you are not alone in hair good and bad. I too experienced hair loss after the birth of my little boy in 2015. It was bad. It has got better but definitely not back to where is was pre birth. My hair is fine too but when I wear it curly it looks thicker. I don’t straighten it much maybe once of twice a year if that. When I first straightened after giving birth I was in shock. I knew I’d lost some hair but it was more apparent while straight just how much I lost. It was heartbreaking, not even going to lie but I worked through it and I’m finally starting to see progress. Now that I’m seeing progress it makes me want to start all over again. Next year April will be my 10years anniversary in being natural so a fresh start my be just what I need . Thanks again for the video ❣️😍👏🏽👌🏽
Your cut looks marvelous!!!!! I have been natural just as long as you have and I understand that we may want change i.e. bleach our hair but we can’t get lazy when we decide to lighten our hair. We have to keep in mind if we plan to lighten our hair we will have to COMMIT to staying on top of our deep conditioning and protein treatments until that color grows out. No exceptions. I was born with high porosity fine hair so my hair may appear thick but it’s not and when I lighten my hair many years ago my curl pattern did loosen as well but I stayed on top of those DC’s and protein treatments until that color grew out. Postpartum shedding ain’t no joke but can be minimized by taking prenatal vitamins and eating lots of veggies.
Loved this! Can't wait to see what videos you put out next. I started my natural journey last year, and I've had four haircuts within that time. What products/process do you recommend for the back of the crown where I sleep on it to keep it from getting so dry?
I nursed my Son until he was 18 months old and I shed my hair when he was about 4 months old. I don't think it had anything to do with you stopping breast feeding your child. Stress is probably what caused your hair to fall out. I love your hair cut though. Thanks for your video. I'm from New Orleans and I KNOW that humidity down there is no joke... It doesn't matter to me because I love your channel..Always have since I ran across it.
I had to let mine go too and it broke my heart because I LOVE red hair. About 95% of the color is gone and I feel so much better. I am staying away from color from now on. Your hair is gorgeous, it makes me want to go shorter.
Love the hair, thanks for sharing your journey. You've saved so.e of us itching to go blonde! BUT PLEASE: Where did you get the pollows and matching throw???
