I cant tell you how much it warms my heart that Jonny and I didn't plan our outfits and yet every single person here looks like they belong at a very Try Guys wedding. What an absolutely amazing season. Hope to see you all on WAR Live! 👰
Jonny, your humor is absolutely outstanding! Never stop being your weird self and you don't have to apologize for your colorful humor, we all live for it!
I LOVE that Eugene firmly but kindly told Marissa she needed a plan B and helped her regroup and refocus when she started to spiral. He was so helpful and encouraging!
The way Eugene said his mom’s marriages ended by “divorced”, “died”, MENTIONED SIX THE MUSICAL- and then the cake topper got beheaded… It’s actually high art.
Jonny, Unfortunately Keith seems to have “canceled ” you. (He also seems to have a bit of a competitive temper). The fact you and Ro matched so nicely and it wasnt planned is * *chefs kiss* *
It was perhaps the most Korean response she could have given. Serious “Asian Mum” vibes, followed by a big Korean compliment of being able to eat well.
Eugene has always been close to my heart but that IMMEDIATE reaction to Marissa starting to spiral stopped me short with tears. It's so lovely to see the firm solid ground he was offering her, and the way that he pushed her back up so she felt confident enough to keep going. A+++++++
I just got to that part and I literally choked up. I needed to run to the comments and see if anyone else felt the same way. Eugene can keep acting like he’s the unfeeling one (we all love anti-people Eugene) but I think between the three guys, he’s the most connected to people’s emotions - I’ve seen way too many instances of it for anyone to change my mind. 🥹 we also all love subtly pro-people Eugene.
@@CsprsSassyHrly i think all the guys (um excluding the cheater) are quite emotional people. unfortunately we only see what they portray to us on scene, but i just get a feeling behind the scenes they are all just very everyday humans who show love the same way as the rest of us ❤❤
Rachel has an incredible system! Making the recipe the day before so she knows the recipe, filming the guys cooking and documenting the mistakes, and then filming the expert to ask pointed questions about stuff she knows the guys did wrong. Her production for this heightens this hilariously!
Eugene and Marissa are a fabulous duo together. Would love to see more. They way Eugene helped her stop spiraling and effectively helped her win overall, and then to top it off Marissa giving Eugene credit for his help was beautiful to see. She made that cake, she made that idea, and she not only accepted help when she needed it but she made sure to credit her helper. Truly a beautiful spirit in both souls.
I adore how supportive Eugene is for Marissa. He sounded so alarmed when he warned her to put her hands up when the glass broke. (I bet he was thinking of what happened to Zach.) And he helped her figure out her Plan B when the filling wasn't setting. Also, I laughed way harder than I should have when Eugene described Without a Recipe as "the show where we make stuff with baking and it's bad."
he's also a business owner and making sure no one gets hurt in his workplace! I love Eugene but everyone is seeing his actions in the episode as kindness whereas it's undeniable he knows he has a show to help put out and she needed to 1) not get hurt and 2) come up with a cake to finish even if *some* delays/mess ups are good for the video
Right?? The bar has gotten a lot higher since this show started for sure, and that’s understandable, but I still appreciate Johnny always playing nice cop and being impressed at the fact that the cake tastes like a cake
@@tinyelephant2104 right before the controversy blew up they had a show that started airing on Food Network. It was WAR Roadtrip. Each episode is in a different state, & they cook at a restaurant. It was good, but not as unhinged as the OG on here.
The way Marissa's only goal this season was to beat Zach and she really achieved it even in this episode when Zach was not the 4th place is so funny to me
Cause it’s set up like that. Another comment on another video said Rachel admitted to pushing the judges a certain way sometimes. That was clearly one of those times.
Eugene's mom is such a gem. "I'm sorry to say this, but I don't think you have much talent for cooking. You know. That's funny, but anyhow you have a good talent for eating" TOOK ME OUT 😂 I love her
Love Eugene’s mom so much, the rank fruit episode and marry, fuck and kill episodes were extremely hilarious 🤣 Typical Asian parents belittle us like that 😭😆 Also I’m proud of Marissa for winning!!! She did so well 👏
Did NOBODY notice how after Keith's joke about "Butter Makes The Batter Better" being a slogan on a sign in a mom's kitchen, the video immediately cuts back to Jonny with that sign edited onto the wall behind him? 11:59 I am LIVING for these editing details! Mad props to whoever snuck that in there!
Eugene was such a reassuring and supportive friends this episode. Yelling for marissa to raise her hands when bowl Broke and then reassuring her it was okay to helping her. Love him
I got emotional when Jonny was judging Marissa. She worked so hard and really wanted to do well. I love when people really try at things and get amazing outcomes. She also looked amazing, could not stop staring at her 😊
Eugene being Marissa's Emotional Support Friend while she was freaking out over the passion fruit gel is just so very sweet. You really see her go from "oh no, I can't do this" to "oh, this could be ok" after Eugene help her refocus. One of the best moments in this series. ❤
Eugene unexpectedly does that from time to time- with Keith’s pumpkin pie, Zack’s bagels, and now Marissa’s cake. He knows how to recenter people and help them focus on tasks.
Johnny hyping up Marissa was so sweet 😭😭😭. Would love to see a video with Marissa in the future like "try guys try pastry school" or "try guys try running a bakery"
I don’t understand why they would give them glass bowls to use with kitchen aid mixers, especially this season. Some of these guests have no baking experience whatsoever and this show is always unhinged and over the top in the way they do things. That was just asking for an accident.
@@licia_bobishka its for the filming, so you can see the cake batter, also those are industrail kitchen glass bowls which are fairly difficult to break (which is why on a small portion actual shattered after being hit multiple times, there wouldn't be anything except shrapnel from a normal glass bowl)
It was a damn good idea too. She spent a bunch of time making something that obviously wasn't going to work because they make them use powdered gelatin and not the sheets that are way easier to measure and more consistent. I work professionally in a kitchen and I think the last time I actually looked at a recipe book for work 4 years ago.
@@theo_aetc Literally like. I couldn't tell if they were telling people not to appreciate his kindness cause of the trope or if they were trying to reduce him to the trope but either way it's just ?????
Reminds me of when Min played on Boink, Marry, Kill on the channel. I believe that's what the first time she saw Eugene "step-Dad"😉 (if you know, you know).
Y'all sleeping on how sweet it was to watch Johnny appreciate how far Zack has come along in these 'Without A Recipe' shows. It was so wholesome. Such a darling❤
I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A COMMENT LIKE THIS. YES. and the way he took the time to talk about it and express that was so wholesome. Plus, he did it in a way that didn't belittle Zach by comparing it to other stuff he's made (in detail), he was genuinely praising him for his improvement! Love Jonny and Love Zach to death 💗💚
The only issue I have with this, it’s the second time he’s mentioned it this season, but Zach has actually been kicking ass more than anyone else for a few seasons now. It shouldn’t be shocking anymore. It is fun though that he’s competent now and wins a lot considering I’m pretty sure he’s the only one out of the main 4 that didn’t actually know how to cook when they started this.
I love how Eugene hasn't learned that he shouldn't be mixing cake batter for 10+ minutes 🤣🤣 His mom is such a savage - "You don't have much talent for cooking"
This takes me back to the past episode of the first season of Without a Recipe involving cakes and Eugene made a tea cake that ended up looking dense and resembled flesh or the inside of a cheesecake
@@nicolevo9261 That was the exact episode that I was thinking haha. I remember Eugene has mixed his batter for almost half an hour and used a dozen eggs
The pride of Jonathan's face as he was smelling and eating Zach's cake and it was, for once, actually edible. He seemed completely willing to ignore how dense it is.
The Zach and Eugene banter, even though they're not even in the same room 😂😂😂 "I'm Eugene, it doesn't matter how it tastes, it just has to look good" "I'll do the Zach thing: bullshit my way to 4th place"
Eugene is seeming like a much more fulfilled individual these days. I don't know what it is exactly but seeing him be huggy and supportive and complimentary and gushing over his family this season, it really fills me with joy I didn't know I needed! 🥹
Everybody always complains that Eugene hasn't been in enough videos lately, but following his other passions is clearly fulfilling him in a way that makes him extra joyful to watch in the episodes he DOES appear in!
@@crystalfurry17 I have no clue what DP is, but bridezilla is a term that's been around for a very long time. A demanding and difficult to please bride. A monster perhaps. And they throw monster sized tantrums. Edit: I do know one thing DP is an acronym for and I know it has absolutely nothing to do with whatever you could think a bridezilla is.
To think the guys have reached a point in this show where the only critique the judges had was dryness. Before the judges usually couldn't go through one episode with several, more insane criticisms/comments and gagging or being unable to swallow something they tasted. As someone who thinks weddings and marriage are not really needed in our society today for several reasons, I love and appreciate that a divorce cake won the episode. The fact that it won the wedding cake challenge is hilarious.
@elizabethlovett4318 what are some of the reasons (please).?????????????? I love the different POVs as it relates to the subject of why marriage isn’t quite relevant in todays society
Jonnys unhinged commentary this episode is sooooo funny. I feel like as he's been in more episodes the more of his real personality we see and it's so relatable. The insant regret he had about the barbie head comment had me cackling
And yet wasn't grounds for an automatic pass or dq. That was dangerous on everyone's part. From putting the hydrangeas on the cake. To the show not pointing that out, to the judges eating them. Damn they must want more controversy
@@Tuturial464why are u leaving weird lying negative comments everywhere. They literally only ate from the tier with the roses and they DID point it out. Its not a "controversy" iust a mistake lol. Relax oe ill start thinkinf rhis is Ned's burner account.
The moment where Eugene tells Maurissa she needs a plan B was somehow so sweet to me? Like she was pure panic and he just redirected her to an alternative. It felt like at Keiths wedding when they were trying to figure out a fix for the missing pants, "1 is an accident, 2 is a choice"
Maggie biting the wedding cake is such a mood. Would I want my groom to shove cake in my face? Hell no, but shoving my own face in my expensive wedding cake? Hell yeah!
We had cupcakes but if I’d had a tiered cake I might have done that lol. But I did my own makeup and it was one of the most anxiety inducing part of it because it was a very last minute thing since the makeup artist friend had to back out. 😢
I love how they're all dressed like they're ready for a wedding, then there's Marissa in all black with her hair slicked back like she's fresh out of a mob movie
I love how supportive but honest Eugene was towards Marissa. How he kept comforting her when she was panicking and giving her alternative ideas was so sweet.
I was thinking this too! His attitude has changed a lot since the first WAR videos, where he said/implied that the guys shouldn’t be helping each other. I enjoy his cooperative attitude here!
I have never loved Eugene more than when he helped Marissa with a plan B. Seriously, I could have cried. As someone who easily panics, his calm and direct approach was so kind.
I've always respected Eugene as a person because he seems so genuinely kind, which is like the #1 quality I respect in a person. I'm a lot like Eugene in a "haha I have terrible issues thanks to my traumatic childhood and home life, don't touch me, don't be nice to me." But I really look up to him because he's such a kind person despite all he's been through, and though I try not to put content creators on a pedestal, I can't help but find that inspiring. Him helping Marissa almost made me cry too lol, he just likes to see his friends succeed.
We can all feel where Eugene’s “love is gross. I’m the dark one” energy comes from when he calls him mom and she says “yeah, you’re not good at baking. You’re good at eating, and I’m proud of you for that. … hahaha, that’s funny!”
The single best moment of this video was Eugene biting the flower out of Keith's hand, Keith yelling, "My flower!" and Zach saying, "Careful, that's poisonous." 😂
Eugene's pep talk to Marissa was the warmth I needed today. And Marissa's cake was so cool! I'm so glad it came out tasting good! Warm Eugene, Marissa slaying, Zach making aparty cake, Keith making... Stairs? What a fun episode. Congrats to Marissa!
Eugene explaining his wedding cake to the judges is exactly what an art class critique feels like for a project that didn't go your way so you rolled with a bs story
That time I made a turtle but it looked like a hog.... Which was horrible because my ex at the time made a hog... It looked like a turtle when you turned it a certain way. Minimalism folks!!!
@@TheSongwritingCatOoh you know I wouldn’t mind a show or episode where the guys + guest participants are coached on how to make something before being asked to make it on their own with their own twists afterwords. Maybe with a help-button system they can use once or twice during the actual cooking process?
Eugene immediately and calmly triaging in crisis “hands up, put your hands up, there is glass!” Was exactly the wholesome endearing content I needed on my lunch hour, thanks y’all.
I love seeing Eugene help Melissa when she starts freaking out. He's such a softie sometimes. Her going from "i can't do this! I can't do this!" To "i think i can save this" because of Eugenes' emotional support is so sweet. And the fact that she ended up winning really goes to show you what support from friends can do.
Love how Ro dressed as the bride and Jonny dressed as the groom meanwhile Nicole dressed as a guest… man it really feels like Ro and Jonny’s wedding day here 😂
marissa's mixer bowl explosion is EXACTLY why i have a metal bowl in my kitchenaid, because if i used glass bowls i would have gone to the e.r. at least four times. she speaks for us all when she says "shit. oh. shit"
seriously. when Nicole Redd-McIntosh said that Eugene's mother would tell him that he still did a good job, I was like "ohhhh you do NOT know (th3 stereotypes of) Asian moms"😅
I can’t stop staring at Keith in this wedding dress. The neckline is so incredibly flattering I forget I’m watching Keith in a wedding dress and not a beautiful bride.
Marriage may have shut the door for her, but a new calling awaits. Literally cried when Jonny encouraged her. I hope she does pursue baking and the world gets to experience her creations.
Johnny cakes remakes is just an IMMEDIATE source of content that’s like, so simple. Have the OG cook or have a try guy assistant co cook with him. Simple, cozy, comfortable, reliable. Not life changing or viral, but on brand.
@@strangerdanger9395love that idea! I just like the idea of seeing the guys’ ideas come to life in a way that’s “with a recipe” 😂 but that’s literally the opposite of the point of this show
