Besides her story, Alice's was tragic as well. People were upset they didn't even include it in the film. But it was too intricate for them to reenact, I guess they felt like it would have added too much run time to the film. I just realized they didn't do Emmet's or the parents either.

I saw something on YT a bit ago talking about Alice's backstory not being in the film. Apparently, someone made a short film about it! I can't remember the name of the short film though. You can maybe just search Alice Cullen backstory short film perhaps?

I believe that to be one of the biggest failures of this series as a whole, every supporting character has a more interesting story to explore than the main three "teenagers". They could make a whole movie about Rosalie and her revenge journey, or a slt "historical" fiction of Jasper and his time as a soldier, or Carlise being a vampire and doctor though history... yet we are following horny teens following Mormon chastity rules 😂

She can want to sleep with him all she wants but that does not change his beliefs either. Bella questions the sanctity of marriage because of her parents marriage. Her mom had remarried but her dad is still single and has been since the divorce. It’s not until her father tells her he still believes in it, that she changes her mind about marriage. So she goes there intending to say yes before the compromise. Edward is also afraid of hurting her if he sleeps with her while she’s still human. Vampires and humans don’t mingle together. Humans are usually just food. The Cullens are the exception because they hunt animals. Which is why their eyes are a golden color not red.

Yes, this definitely had to have played a part on why she hesitated. She grew up watching her parents rejecting marriage (her mom literally said she felt trapped) up until she finally found someone, then Bella felt like a burden on their relationship. Her father never seemed to even want to put himself out there after the divorce. She was probably just scared that being married would change things, which in all honesty people think like this in real life 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fun Fact : Bryce Dallas Howard was originally offered to play Victoria in New Moon but she turned it down because she found the role to be pretty small for her. And yet, here she is playing Victoria from a recast as Rachelle Lefevre had schedule conflict so she couldn't return and Bryce's Victoria was given a larger role in Eclipse

When she finally took a role, they called her and was going to delay the production like 1 or 2 weeks. So instead, they delayed it even more casting another actress 🙄🙄 it feels like it was intentional. That director was so shady.

The lore in this franchise is vampires are cold and solid like marble, so that’s why they break and crack in fights. Edward’s concerns about being intimate with Bella is because of his strength and also because he is solid like marble. Addition to some great comments here about not sleeping with Bella (mental state wise and principles of Edward), I think because Edward doesn’t wanna risk hurting her (physically) so he’s taking it slower. Like what they’d agreed to do, he’s requirement before he turns her is for them to get married first (and they are not rushing this - for Edward at least but Bella’s worried about time and aging). And if things turn sideways by harming her in some ways if they did choose to be physical before the marriage, he’d have another reason to have to turn her right away. As we’ve seen since Twilight, even kissing her could be too intense that Edward had to stop himself before things escalate. He’s new to doing physical things - on top of the fact that he’s gonna sleep with her in human form (deemed fragile) while he has a different level of body strength and agility (with a body basically made out of diamond now).

So Edward doesn’t want to sleep with her until they’re married, because of both of them. Just like Bella said, he’s old school, it’s the same reason he believes he doesn’t have a soul for being a vampire and feels like he’s risking Bella’s by making her one. Also, Jessica mentioned that all the Cullens are together in the first film; Alice/Jasper, Rosalie/Emmet, Esme/Carlisle Edit. Forgot to mention that IF Jacob had imprinted on Bella, she could NOT be in love with Edward. That’s why you were shown the Leah/Sam/Emily triangle. Sam was in love with Leah, but once he turned into a wolf and he imprinted on Emily (who’s Leah’s cousin) his feelings for her were completely overshadowed by the imprint. Emily tried to deny it too, because she didn’t want to be with him at first due to Leah, the pull towards him won out in the end though.

I don't agree with the "she could NOT be in love with Edward" part. Jacob said that the imprint makes the other person the center of their world (for the wolf) where they would be anything that they want a lover, a protector, or a friend, so what if "whoever" Jacob imprints on wants him as a protector or a close friend and not a lover, whether that's Bella or not.

That’s literally not how imprinting works they never say in the movies or books Bella could not love Edward if Jacob imprinted on her 😂 please don’t just make stuff up and feed them false information. Emily rejected Sam because at first she didn’t feel the way about him which is why he got mad and messed up her face it wasn’t until later she started falling for him. Imprinting on somebody does not in any way mean they will love or like you back which is why it’s not always romantic and Jacob even explains that to Bella. Keep in mind Bella isn’t a wolf so the rules of imprinting doesn’t even effect her, in no way would Jacob imprinting on her change her feeling for Edward she said herself Edwards love will always eclipse Jacob 😂 what about anything in those books told you him imprinting would mean anything ?

So in the book they mentioned that the vampires have this thing where sometimes they find their mate for life. Basically like they find their magical soul mate and are bound to them. It makes sense because vampires are frozen in time, usually in pain for eternity. So the only thing that would fill them is an eternity of love. The majority of the time they fall for another vampire who feels the same way . And they literally can't be apart from each other. It's love beyond comprehension. And it's rare that a human could be capable of this kind of love. This is actually what every member of the Cullen family went through, Alice with Jasper, Rosalie with Emmet and Carlisle with his wife. It's similar to how animals find their mate and when one of the partners gets ripped away from the other, they both feel agonizing pain. Thats why Edward and bella literally couldn't be apart from one another. If he hadn't come back they would've permanently been in unimaginable pain and never would've moved on because they are fated to be together.

The release of these Twilight movies in late 2000s and early 2010s was truly a weird and oddly satisfying time for the movies. I don't think these movies could've been appreciated as much if they released it today, i don't know why but i just can't see like some sort of soft spot guilty pleasure response for these movies in the 2020s if they released it today for the first time. I guess that they just got lucky with the timing and some coincidence

Honestly, this is the most enjoyable set of Twilight Saga reactions I've seen. It's not silly, not cynical/judgmental. Twilight was a phenomenon with great music and pretty actors. It had parts that didn't work, but also had this sense of dramatic longing and romance that is like the essence of being a teenager. Each of these reaction vids is cheering me up. Thank you, guys!

You seemed confused for a sec at the end when Edward says there's no rush to marry. Edward wants Bella to be alive for as long as possible. His perfect scenario would be living Bella's human life with her, marriage included obviously, and then when she dies naturally, he'd go to the volturi and he'd make them kill him. That's what he wants. Obv Bella is very much against that, she wants to be a vampire as soon as possible. This is a bit more fleshed out in the books - in the books they keep arguing back and forth, Edwards trying to get her to stay human for a few more years, go to college and stuff and in return, he'd be the one to turn her. (Just a reminder, the graduation timeline was Bella's idea when she thought Carlisle was gonna turn her. There is/was no set timeline for when she'd get turned if Edward did it - that was fully up for negotiation). Edward wants to marry her - but he's not insisting on that being right now. He'd happily wait a few years until Bella feels ready for it, but Bella doesn't want that. That's why the wedding is happening so soon - that's not part of Edwards stipulations. So, the deal now is: Edward turns her and promises to try to have sex with her while she's still a human (he's very hesitant abt that bc obv one wrong move and he could kill her, that's the main reason why he doesn't want to try while she's still human. And bc he has his old school views, he doesn't want it to be before marriage - for her sake, but also for himself) - in return, Bella marries him. I know you were very hung up on that and I'd agree with you, if she didn't have any other option to get turned. But she does. Carlisle (and in the books Alice as well) has fully agreed to turn her into a vampire. If she truly didn't want marriage, she is not forced to do it, to get what she wants. It is her decision, that having Edward turn her means more to her than her reluctance to get married. I don't see anything wrong with that. Btw, Bella is against marriage bc of her parents. They married young and it ended badly and it really soured her to the idea. And potentially she might even be a bit afraid of it, afraid that marriage would mean she and Edward would end up like her parents as well. And one last thing, Jacob isn't imprinted on Bella. Imprinting is strictly a wolf thing, so no, Bella is not able to imprint on him. And also, no, even if Jake had imprinted on her, she wouldn't have to be with him romantically. But it's almost guaranteed to happen, since the wolf who imprints literally becomes whatever the person they imprint on needs them to be (which is an icky part of Imprinting that isn't talked about enough, the wolfs have no control over that, their biology literally forces them to do it - even though they do feel happy abt it, I still don't like the loss of autonomy) - so they are literally the perfect partner. But yeah, imprinting is not exclusively a romantic thing. If the person the wolf imprints on needs them to be a friend, then they'll be a friend, if they need them to be a brother, they'll fill that role, etc. Oh, and imprinting happens at first sight. The moment their eyes meet, that's when a wolf imprints - if it doesn't happen then, it'll never happen.

Sure these are themes and ideas usually incorporated religious philosophy and debate. But Christianity has always had a symbiotic relationship with vampires and the genre as a whole

@@leahscontemporary Nah, most of the stuff surrounding the proposal and everything that results from it is a Mormon thing. A lot of it on its own could also be generic romance or vampire tropes, yeah, but if you read up on "celestial marriage" in the LDS church, this specific constellation just makes a lot more sense. The whole thing about Jacob being attracted to Bella through ******** (at this point in time, which really shouldn't work) is a byproduct of that - because the whole point of celestial marriages is that they connect you with your relatives across time and space. That's also why it's only ok to turn Bella IF they get married, even though Edward says Bella could never see her parents again in their lifetime ... the marriage seals the family, she'll at least have a chance to see them in the afterlife. Keep in mind, I'm not saying Meyers wrote a literal Mormon wedding at a temple, just that there is a very LDS-specific pov (not even general Christian or "old-fashioned") that strongly colors the rules of her universe, imo.

Jacob actually stops aging as long as he continues to shape shift. That was another conflict from this book that they had to shave from the final product. The wolves age to like 25 then stop as long as they continue to phase. To be fair about the premarital sex, it’s not just bella’s choice. So just because she wants to, doesn’t mean it’s a go. He has to consent as well. And charlie is the best. Jasper and emmett are my fav dudes.

Eh cheated is a strong word. Jacob literally threatens to run off and get himself killed if she doesn’t do something to prove he’s right about her feelings for him. Edward doesn’t do anything because he says earlier in his argument with Jacob that his problem was with her consent. He fully wants Bella to have a chance to have a regular life but is also very secure in her love for him. He can hear Jacob, he knows what’s going through his brain but he also knows that Bella loves him and keeps choosing him through Jacob’s protest. Edward definitely doesn’t force her to marry him, he just has a condition for the very permanent change she’s asking from him. I feel that’s fair. Plus if he doesn’t want to have sex, that’s perfectly okay. Everything is not about what Bella wants. She’s asking him basically to have the most anxious first time of his life that might kill the girl he loves before she even gets the chance to live. Then she’s also asking him to basically kill her by turning her and be responsible her changing her life. So I think it’s ok for him to be like “hey can we atleast get married and have that time together before I have to kill you😭”That’s a BIG ask. Also Bella is just reluctant because of her parents relationship and that’s why she talks to Charlie. He helps her see that love can persist and marriage won’t kill that. Either way tho, Bella had to be changed due to Valterie being on their head. If she truly didn’t want to marry Edward under his condition then she could’ve easily gotten Alice to do it or went into hiding. I’m rambling but you get the point lol.

I think if Bella was a man and Edward was a woman then the scene of her telling him that she wants to have sex with him despite his beliefs or him wanting to wait for marriage then you’d have a very different reading of that scene. Yes, Stephenie Meyer is a mormon and that definitely bleeds into her work on multiple occasions but I don’t think Edward was being unreasonable. He could kill her by sleeping with her as he is made of what is essentially diamond/marble and he has super strength that I imagine can be a bit uncontrollable in the heat of the moment. Bella is asking him to go against his beliefs by turning her into a vampire (something he despises about himself and thinks makes him destined for hell) which is a lot more permanent and life altering than marriage. He just wants the security of knowing he has her love and she was hesitant because she’s seen her parents marriage crumble.

I really like this movie and the book is my favorite of all the saga, the way Stephenie Meyer wrote the stories of the family members is amazing and has had a lot of the fans asking for more details from their past. I love the part of Rosalie's story when she met Emmett, she says that he reminded her of her friend's son and couldn't let him there to die, Emmet was (I really can't remember if it was camping or climbing) with his family when they were attacked by a bear, Rosalie found him and carried him, while he was bleeding, to Carlisle so he could turn him cause she was afraid that she wouldn't stop if she tried to turn him. Emmett gave her a reason to live again cause she was really mad after turning, as she said she didn't wanted that life, he reminded her of the life she always wanted and now wants with him but can't have. Her story gives you a bittersweet ending Edit: Ohh btw, the girl that the Vulturi killed is Bree Tanner, she has her own spin-off book, very interesting and sad story, also from what I remember in that book S. Meyer explains more about all the vampire stuff

I think you might’ve missed when Bella asked Jacob if he’s imprinted on anyone and he says “you’d know if I had.” Imprinting is meant to go beyond regular romantic love. Just a a full on devotion to someone -being to them whatever they need you to be Kristen Stewart WAS wearing a wig as she’d cut her hair to play Joan Jett in The Runaways (also fun that her Runaways costar Dakota was in this movie as well) 😊 In the book, when Bella kisses Jacob she envisions her whole human life with Jacob and it’s so beautiful. They actually filmed those scenes but ultimately decided not to include them
