@Shifty Kubaz Yeah I remember years ago as a kid hating this cartoon for it's finale. I mean the giant comes down LOOKING for Jack the Giant Killer and even attacks the castle and tries to kidnap then princess to draw him out, laughs at all the soldiers/guards attempts to stop him, laughs off getting hit by cannonballs and rockets but then when Jack shows up suddenly turns chicken and doesn't even try to fight the very guy he came all the way there to fight. It was an extremely unsatisfying climax with our supposed "hero" in a one-sided fight with someone who never even tries to fight back despite being so much larger and coming there looking for him in the first place. It also doesn't help that we spend so much time with the giant and grow to like them and as already mentioned the giant only came after Jack and the castle because they marked him for death.
'Sure, I just put out the sun and doomed the earth to near-immediate extinction, but the villain's dead, anyway, so for now, let's kiss.' Gotta love old cartoon logic.
I see this cartoon has not fallen victim to COPPA. So I may as well give my comment on this cartoon. I found it interesting how the cartoon begins with the giant sleeping in bed and showing only the heads from the cover and not revealing right away that they have one body. It was also interesting how when one head wakes up and the other one has not, the half that is awake picks up the leg of the sleeping head and hops over to the tub.
I guess they had memes even back in the 1930s. We have this guy(or guys) and we have Boola from the Fleischer Brothers "Popeye meets Sinbad the sailor. Both speak English with a thick eastern European accent, both squabble amongst themselves, and both a two headed persons ( Giants that is.... Although I think Boola might be a type of Ogre.) And the voice acting is very similar (based on a 1930s radio personality?) Just sayin'.
I did not like this cartoon, Jack gives a threat to kill the giants over the king UGLY daughter. The giant was not threatening jack, they were on their own planet, jack send a threat ? and the innocent Giant dies ??? Jack is a shyt starter and the king with his ugly daughter.
