The Two Player Clinger Winger bug in Battletoads (NES) - A Wild Glitch Appears!

In Battletoads for the NES, there is a game breaking bug that prevents the second player from controlling his character in Level 11 Clinger-Winger. If two players can somehow make it all the way to the penultimate level, they will be unable to proceed until the second player takes a Game Over.
None of the second player's input will do anything on this level, with the exception of the pause button.
This game is already pretty impossible, but this horrible glitch makes it literally impossible to beat Battletoads with two players! The second player is forced to take a game over here, but if the first player beats the level, the second player can join him in the final stage.
This bug was fixed in the subsequent European and Japanese versions of the game, and there are also rom hacks out there that will fix the issue. Here's a good example - Battletoads Bugfix - www.romhacking...

From what I understand the reason this happens is when you reach the bike, there is a 3 second wind up before the player can start moving. The orb that chases you is sync up to start chasing when player 1 can start moving. But Player 2 bike is further away and player 2 starts a little to the left of player 1. So player 2 gets on the bike a little later than player 1. So when the orb starts chasing, player 2 is still in his 3 second wind up and therefore can’t move.

The reason why it's so hard is because of the input lag due to playing on an emulator or an HD TV. With a CRT TV, it's very easy to corner in this level. But I got you a tip if you're dealing with input delay: You just have to press Start as you are cornering and when Rash is not positioned correctly on the wheel, that's how you know you did it right (you can do it a few frames earlier and it'll still work). After that, hold the direction you wanna go in, unpause, rinse and repeat. You'll beat the level eventually

Jesus when you said 11th level I thought dear God who's even made it that far. Me and a buddy tried but got to about the 6th or 7th.... Definitely have up and went and played contra instead. A game that's difficult yet you can actually beat
