Kudos to the first 911 operator. You're taking a worse roasting in the comments than Jason - and he killed six people.

hearing that 911 operator seriously made me so angry! how is having to jump out of an uber from reckless driving not an emergency? and the fact that it ended up getting so much worse...

Remember that girl in your high school classes who rolled her eyes and sighed at everything? The one who didn’t care to learn and spent all day conspicuously demonstrating her boredom? Yeah, she’s a 911 dispatcher now.

The first dispatcher, really needs to reevaluate her line of work. She is one of the worst, I’ve heard and could care less.

Imagine if they would’ve taken the multiple calls reporting a erratic driver seriously.. makes me sick

......um, if my hubby had smashed his car, gets in another, he’s got a gun and said “expect to see me on the news tonight” I think I would call the police if not for his own safety.... I mean WTF was she thinking?

One correction to this report. Victim Tiana Caruthers did not make a full recovery. She suffers daily from the effects of being shot . She needs help walking, has metal rods in her body and many other injuries that are permanent , endures physical pain everyday in addition to the PTSD she suffers. So many times in mass shootings people often forget about the surviving victims. Just because they did not die, doesn't mean they are going about their life without extreme difficulty. God bless this woman and the other surviving victims

I love how often these videos show some truly unhelpful dispatchers that have tons of attitude with people calling.

i was diagnosed with schizophrenia at twenty one and i've been around people in various stages of treatment for psychotic illnesses ever since. i've got to say, there's nothing particularly _unbelievable_ about the story he initially gave investigators. maybe it sounded ridiculous and cliche to a lot of people, but delusional thinking tends to wear some common motifs in my experience. religion and demons, technology and surveillance, federal and corporate conspiracies, none of these things have been the least bit out of place at some group therapy meetings i've attended. i've personally spent more time discussing mind control than i care to admit. and i couldn't understand a damn word he was saying in the courtroom, which also isn't out of place in clinical settings. if he faked that shit, he did it well. he had me going. on the other hand - he swapped cars. he was lucid enough to know that what he was doing was wrong, that his now damaged vehicle would identify him, he was lucid enough to come up with a solution, and he was lucid enough to _lie_ about why he was picking customers up in a different car ... and typically people don't just flit back and forth between lucid and psychotic in a matter of minutes. when you're wound up, you're wound up for hours. _days,_ even.

Damn, you can feel the panic in her. Dear God, I hope she's okay. She's definitely suffering from PTSD. I hope she's getting the help she needs and deserves.

"Hello, 911? I need to report a madman on the loose" 911 Operator: "Okay so what do YOU want to do? You're the expert. Here are two options and you have no idea what they really mean."

Damn that first dispatcher was ready to clock out apparently. "Ok thank you. Bye."

I can't imagine be married to him with kids! I feel awful for his family.... they probably went through a lot of suffering trying to process what happened too. Overall a huge mess!

I seriously blame the first dispatcher for not doing her damn job. If he had been stopped earlier maybe none of those people wouldn’t have been shot

I know that dispatch did not just just say “did you hear shots fired” LITERALLY RIGHT AFTER THE LADY SAID PEOPLE GO SHOT. This drives me insane man , the fury I get when I hear a dispatch like that is unreal

It’s the father and son shopping for the sons first car that really hit me tbh.. what was supposed to be a great/proud moment for their family but instead some disgusting weirdo destroyed their lives for no reason.. makes me so mad

Gotta wonder about the wife, she meets up with him midway through this, he’s grabbing guns and his vest, tells her to watch the news, acting like a maniac and she doesn’t call the police?

That guy had a full on psychotic break. He may have been ruled competent later but during that might? No way.

Desperate person: "Ive been shot in the head." Dispatcher: "Do you need medical?"

Caller: "help im dying!" Dispatcher: "And? What do you want me to do? Call the police?"

Imagine spending nearly 50 years on this earth, acquiring knowledge, and experiencing many different things. Only to be mind controlled by a mobile app.

This is one video I can't watch more than once. Hearing Tiana screaming and crying on the stand like that while Jason was putting on his fake insanity act did something to me that can never be undone.

As soon as I heard the first 911 call I came straight to the comments to make sure I wasn't crazy 😂

The 911 dispatcher in my opinion rushed the first caller off the phone like she didn’t even want to be bothered she cut him off and said okay thank you

I’m a dispatcher. I am HORRIFIED of how that dispatcher handled that situation. Should be fired immediately.

Wait what. The 911 just basically went "What do you want me to do about it?". I think they're the ones who should know.

I'm friends with one of the victims fathers (Abigail). His little girl went through a lot of hardship, and was lucky to survive. After a few surgeries, and a lot of time, she was able to recover. I haven't spoken to my friend in a bit now, but last I heard and saw, they seemed to be doing ok, and she was able to get basically back to normal. I'll never forget checking in on him, asking how his daughters recovery is coming. Especially those first weeks. They also lost some family friends that night, but Abby made it through somehow. They thought she was dead because.. Well, in most occasions, where she was hit, it would have been certainly fatal. I still don't know how the doctors saved her, but I'm so relieved they did. RIP to the victims who didn't make it.

Basically the 911 Operator was Like "Oh you've been shot? How about try calling the police?"

He seems like an absolute nut. Inclined to believe him. No motive, completely random, no criminal history

“Hello, I am being stabbed to death. Please help!” Dispatch: “Good for you sir. What do you want me to do about it?” “Just send help!” Dispatch: “ so, do you want me to send an officer or just let them know to be on the look out for a man covered in blood once he is don’t killing you?”

This is absolutely crazy, I was born and raised in Kalamazoo, and remember when this was going on and how scared everyone was. Its wild to now have seen you do two videos on Kalamazoo, a little scary honestly but I really appreciate how you always try to keep things light-hearted 💓 Love ya, Mike, keep up the amazing work

911: Hello? Caller: Yeah, I wanna report a guy acting unusually normal.

I'm glad that the first 911 call was released, put that operator on blast.

I was in charge of the trauma surgical intensive care unit that night. Probably one of the most traumatic experiences I've had thus far in my career. I remember every minute. This is the first time I've heard the 911 dispatcher and I am appalled.

The sound of that poor woman's cries made me tear up. Why on earth did they have her testifying like that, right beside the man who tried to kill her? Absolutely disgraceful.

That first 911 operator: "I don't want to hear this. Can you just get off the phone, because I really couldn't care less." I really don't think 911 is a good fit for her...she was absolutely useless. She didn't even try to get any information about what happened. IMO, she made the caller feel like he was imposing on her time and annoying her with his petty problems. Did she at the very least get reprimanded for doing her job so absolutely abysmally?

Whoever the dispatcher was from the first call in needs a lot more training. Wow I don’t think I could’ve ignored that attitude

Reminds me of that 911 operator that dismissed the woman who was LITERALLY drowning in flash flood water... The dispatcher told her she “shouldn’t have driven into flooded water...” while the poor woman cried and begged for help. Makes me upset just recalling it.... The woman drowned.

I thought only 911 operators acted like that here in CA. I've had that same Sh1it happen to me, dismissive as if I'm calling over something stupid

I am from Kalamazoo also. I will never forget this one. Tiana was incredibly brave and saved those kids lives. The girlfriend, luckily hid in the back of her boyfriends dad’s car, otherwise he would have killed her also. The young girl who survived when her grandma and her 3 friends all passed and that young lady is still undergoing recovery. His wife divorced him and changed her and the kids names. Finally, and this is the ironic one- Jason graduated from a smaller town’s high school, Comstock High and including Jason, 3 people became murderer’s that went to that school (not during the time they attended all later in life)…. Each of those are wild stories also. UGH!!!

Why didn't his wife ring the cops straight away when he grabbed another gun and said " watch the news " ????

That poor girl testifying about what happened to her really got me. She went through this traumatic and painful ordeal, summoned the courage to sit in court facing the monster who did this to her...and then he starts acting crazy in the middle of her testimony. She was clearly terrified. I wish someone could have gotten up and hugged her while she was crying...

"Do you want to speak to an officer, or just have them be on the lookout?" ?! Ummmkay, isn't it the dispatcher's job to make that decision for you? I wouldn't know what to say either.

Absolutely amazing that Tiana had the courage to sit in court and testify against the monster that so callously attempted to murder her. I can only imagine the fear going through her being so far and yet so close to her attacker. The sheer panic she must have felt as he was going off in the courtroom must have been enormous.

The 911 operator sounded like somebody taking an order at a burger joint that worked there for 20 years.

The shock in callers voice when he said "one guys not moving." You to understand there are so many crazy people out there with guns. Be careful stay home. Be with your parents and family.

That poor woman is traumatized. You could literally feel her fear that he was going to try to kill her again in the court room. Heartbreaking.

Kalamazoo is my home town, I lived right by where they shot Tiana. I didn’t know her personally, but I am very grateful to hear that she recovered from those 4 shots she took protecting her children.

Delusional Disorder. Extremely rare. Very duplicitous in that sufferers carry on normal functioning. In my 30 year career as a psychiatric practitioner I encountered only two patients with this disease. One recovered completely. The other murdered and mutilated her husband and spent an extended Easter weekend in the home with his corpse. I can tell you this is what was wrong with Dalton.

Born and raised in Kalamazoo. I've lived here my whole life, besides a few years I had lived in Lansing. This whole thing really shook Kalamazoo. The Cracker barrel in Kalamazoo is no longer there. I don't think it stayed open long after. Tianna is a hero. She sheltered those kids with her own body. And Abby had such a long journey to recovery. EFF Jason Dalton. May he rot in Hell.

I remember this as well. Third video from this channel that focuses on cases nearby where I live. One of my friends was trying to call an Uber, but was terrified to get in the driver's vehicle as a result of this.

3:01 That 911 operator should be fired. Why is she asking the caller to choose what action she should take? She should KNOW what to do with whatever information a caller gives her. That’s her job. That’s what she was supposedly trained for. To listen to a chaotic situation and make appropriate decisions. Not put pressure on a caller, who is under stress, to make a decision for her.

Such a tragedy. When she started crying on the stand I can only imagine the victim pain before taking there last breaths. It really had me feeling some kinda way. My prayers to all involved. 🙏🏽

How did the app "make him do it", if he told his wife to watch the news while he was at home and NOT the app?

If the 911 operator would’ve taken the original call in about this dude seriously all of this could’ve been prevented or not as many people would’ve been killed.She should’ve gotten fired for handling this call in the manor she did, totally inexcusable. My mom who’s 83 let her friend, a Catholic priest, borrow her car. Later that evening we got a visit from the police. They’d received several calls about my mom’s car driving erratically. I explained the situation to the police, and it was let go. It turns out the poor priest had suffered a brain bleed. He brought the car back, went home, and died during the night.

I was so relieved when he said that lady made a full recovery 😥

God, my heart just breaks for Tiana. For everyone involved of course, but her pain is so visceral. I can’t imagine being shot trying to protect children and believing you would bleed out in front of your baby. That’s unimaginable trauma.

It feels like people called into a dispatcher that was in the middle of a real nail biter of a game of candy crush.

Hey, first dispatcher lady, I hope you watched this video. I also hope you never get any sleep and think about all the people dead because you were too bored or tired or mad to take your job seriously.

So many lives would have been saved if Jason's wife had simply dialed 911 and told them "he just came home, switched cars, grabbed guns and a bullet proof vest, and told mevto watch the news." She could have told them everything. The silver suv, the black car, license plate numbers, which direction he was heading. Maybe she did. Maybe she got that first operator who didn't gaf. But I am angry that she did nothing to help police find and stop this guy.

I hope that first dispatcher has been fired or just doesn't work in that field anymore. Obviously that man was in total shock and felt lucky to have his life and was reporting a current threat. I think he should have requested to speak with an officer to give over those details, but they probably still wouldn't have done anything.

I can't believe how blase the 911 operator was acting. She needs a refresher course.

My heart broke when the victim broke down at the reaction of the shooter in court. Her cry was real FEAR

I watched the trial and when it came to the victim impact statements the widow of the guy and his son who was murdered she had me in tears it broke my heart listening to her and the other family members who lost love ones I'm glad he's in prison and will never get out I hope all the victims families are doing well. After their loved ones where murdered by a coward .
