The UFOcast does Captain Scarlet - Episode 12 - Shadow of Fear 

Nice job. This is one of the more enjoyable episodes of the series for me. But as you say, some stuff looks cool but doesn't make much sense, like the weird glowing Mars that kills the guy looking at it. Unlike UFO and even Space:1999, I find Captain Scarlet a rather frustrating series, at times. It has a killer opening title thing with Ed Bishop introducing the premise, most episodes have a strong hook, the voice over from the Mysterons about their weekly threat is a neat idea, Captain Black the zombie agent is a great idea, the whole production looks fabulous and the end titles have terrific art work and a wonderfully violent song "they smash him... and his body may burn..." But I find the series talks a good fight more than it actually delivers one. The Mysterons are just too cerebral and formless a threat to make consistent sense, there's no actual UFO saucers and a blank-faced possessed baddie is indistinguishable from a someone who isn't possessed or replicated when everyone is played by a bloody puppet. Worst of all, the hero is unkillable. Sylvia Anderson once said it should have been a better series but she felt it was taken over and she wasn't allowed to have enough input after she created the characters for it.
