Reading all these comments I get the idea that most folks don’t want to get ripped off but at the same time are tired of waiting. I too have been watching these guys since Ray’s first vids. I’m getting the feeling that this entire business is in such turmoil that no one really knows what the trends are. It’s just a Vegas role of the dice what happens. With that said I do enjoy every one of your episodes and the organisation you have developed is going to give the retail car buyer an excellent edge in dealing for a used or new vehicle.

I have been following Ray and Zach for well over 2 1/2 years, waiting for prices to soften. In last 4-5 months the advice was to contune to wait. First, it was wait until Christmas week. Then it was wait until January & February . Now we are half way through February and we are told prices are crashing when used prices are rising. I don't get it. I've got a 2011 Acura MDX I'd like to get rid of but don't have to. I have also have a 2016 Subaru Outback. I can pay cash, but I don't want to get gouged. My patience is starting to wear thin. VERY frustrating.....

Now is the time too sell. Buying is going to be tough, dealers are still thinking they can get above msrp. You'll get gouged at this current time based on interest rates and dealership supply. Best time is Sept through Oct for year-end model blowouts. December woop have Brest lending rates.. if you don't mind incoming bills come January. Best of luck.

Thank you so much for your advice. Today we had to buy a new car. We could not wait. We had a target type and used your information and advice to research the right target. We did quick research and decided that Subaru models best fit our need. After looking locally, we found nothing available on any local lots. We travelled outside our immediate area and found a Forester on a lot that fit our criteria (90 miles). After test driving, we made an offer accepting MSRP with delivery but rejecting the 'good guy' markup up and got a Forester Sport for 34K+TTL with 3.9% financing for 48 months. The dealer accepted and we drove away with a new SUV. Thank you so much for the advice and wisdom. It is a great vehicle for that price. Car Edge mentoring gave us the confidence to make that deal.

@@steve2359g Texas... inventories suck. Crosstreks seem to be going out as fast as they come in and even before. I ordered mine in early November. I took delivery end of January. Now I learned that not only was it one of the last 23 builds you can custom order, it maybe one of the last Manual 6S you'll ever see. Because the Eyesight System will not work without the CVT. Despite ordering a Premium, because it's a Manual it's pretty basic. But, I got it for 26K. You cannot get another vehicle in its class for anything close to that and with AWD. If you are willing to travel for your Trek, Subaru of Georgetown is about to take delivery of a shipment. Best prices in Texas. Ask for Starr.

I got tired of waiting for this "crash" and bought an '03 Camry for $4K from an elderly private seller. Car looks and runs nearly like new and has 100,000 miles. I'll drive it until the economy collapses which seems to me to be the only thing that will bring used car prices down. The continued talk about a crash that is not happening is getting old. I could easily pay cash for a new or more expensive used car but I refuse to pay these inflated prices. Wish everyone did the same. EDIT: I probably made $2,000-$3,000 dollars on this car by buying it compared to the idiots who are paying dealer prices and losing that much (or more) driving the car off the lot.

Ram/Jeep dealers wanted list with no discounts on a 1500 Limited and Cherokee Summit Reserve. Lexus and MB dealers offered free stuff like scheduled maintenance and no mark-up over the list since I was paying cash. Ram/Jeep dealers called me for a week after offering me 12% off list, but only if I financed. In the end I got a RX500H F-sport performance for list and free scheduled maintenance for 50k miles. Since it starts to get expensive after the 1st two free scheduled maintenance, they give you. To get a completely redesigned hybrid SUV, that's the brands best selling is a sign that dealers are changing. I live in New Jersey, and the area I bought it in is very wealthy, and they can charge more with no issues. Night I bought mine, they had delivered 6 that day and when I picked it up the following day. Another 6 or 7 were being delivered. Went to the dealer, and every other one on the lot had reserved plaques on them. GM told me that I could sell it for over what I paid, including taxes.

I said ok and started out the door and you could see the light bulb go on above his head and he says hey sometimes college folks have jobs. Do you have a job? I said yup sure do. Full time job actually at one of the best employers in my town. All of the sudden I was worthy and he had time for me. Come on back to the desk he says. I said well I think your right this isn’t the car for me. He called daily for the next week. I finally took his call and let him know that he lost a sale and I was going somewhere else he could stop calling. Sometimes you cant judge a book by it’s cover.

CarEdge posted a graph showing car prices the past few years, showing an clear trend of prices dropping starting late 2022.. New prices will drop, but “nobody” knows when exactly.. CarEdge is talking sense; everything points to prices dropping, because dealers are pricing themselves out of the market (as prices go up and up, there is a smaller and smaller pool of people with the money to buy). Data also showed a sharp increase in repos, because people are stretching to buy cars they cannot afford. Interest rates are another factor pricing the general public out of the car market.. In summary, lots of indicators prices will continue to drop.. I believe the question is when exactly.

Leaving the old loan to default and cars get repossessed, a shot in the dark to look into see if used car dealers are not including the negative equity of the old car into the new loan.

I think if things don't start to cool down after March, then the Federal Reserve will probably increase interest rates by another 200 basis points, rather than the projected 75 basis points over the entirety of the year. it will be very interesting as Americans have been used to relatively cheap debt for a decade or so, but it's going quite quickly (not like the Japanese interest rates back in the mid to late 90's) and we haven't seen these interest rates in 40 or so years. People just don't understand how to manage debt and not throw things away, rather than keeping and fixing things as it's cheaper and more sustainable. it's either going to get better in about 2 or 3 months, OR it'll be considerably worse than it is now as the year goes on, then probably at the end of the year or beginning of next there will be a major correction.

I hate to deal with a dealer. I haven't bought a new car since 2005. I'm thinking of just calling a dealer and telling them I'm going to pay cash for the specific model and body style and interior that I want. Any tips?
@rjny51
@rjny51 Год назад
Best advice is to buy new ( if that is what ypu want to do ) DON'T tell them tou want to pay cash though. If they THINK that they are going to make money on the back end (financing ) they may give you a better deal on the purchase price ( front end ) then you put cash or trade down, financing the balance. Wait until your financing goes through and payment is due in 45 days usually. Pay 1st payment and wait until your 2nd payment is due ( 30 days after 1st ) but before due date you pay it off. Banks usually do not make dealer profit payment to them before 90 days. I have over 40yrs experience in car business. This works like a charm and the dealer never knows anything until approx. 60 days after they sold the vehicle to you. You will have title by then and then the financial institution will issue a lien release to you once it is paid off. Also READ the contract to make sure that there are NO prepayment penalties before signing. Just remember everything is negotiable.

That's why when I bought my Lexus last week, I went with the free 4 year 50k scheduled maintenance over the tire and wheel package. They didn't cook the number as I paid the list plus tax and 2 fees. Registration and documents were the only add-on on the OTD pricing. .

As a dealer I have made numerous comments on these cats videos about the fact that they are always giving out yesterdays news and always advising consumers to wait to buy when they in fact should have actually been buying. Some poor folks have now been waiting for three years and missed numerous market dips when the retail prices were temporarily at or below wholesale prior to the next market cycle run up.

@@ZachShefska1 He is probably busy selling cars and being relevant. In regards to Jeff's comment he is spot on. The rate of depreciation on people holding on to their vehicles is out weighing their potential savings. BTW, paying a profit is not a bad thing, and your pitch of paying $500 over cost of your third party warranty being underwritten by someone has less value as the repair approval rate and speed is slow based off of your ability to seed money into the account to pay for repairs. Stay at it a while longer and you'll catch up though. By no stretch am I saying your bad people, just saying that your click bait, yesterdays news, and not really saying anything really applicable to todays market at large.

@@jeffmuelhaupt2927 You are correct. We bought 3 2022 Ford products early in the model year. The price increases had not happened yet so they where about the same MSRP of the 2021. Bought all 3 under invoice with rebates from $750 to $3000, also used X-Plan from Ford.
