Unfortunately a lot of food banks won't take a lot of the food. Supposedly that can't take anything with a past used date. I know at some of the food trucks I have gone to that they pass out stuff that's already past date, so I don't understand that claim. Besides just because the date is past doesn't mean you can't eat it, it's still perfectly safe. When I dive I look to see what condition the food is in and how it smells. Each person can judge for themselves.

The same thing happens in the USA. They limit dumpster diving on states. Now they cut the clothings and pour liquid so you can take what they throw away. At least in England you get lots of candy and snacks by boxes. Good job. Love your videos. Just subscribed to your channel too.

What an utter waste of good food. Iceland by me give there stuff to olio, not always a lot of stuff but it goes to people who can use it. It looks like they may have had a fridge go out, and they only have a 30-minute window if found early enough. Doughnuts yummy with a cuppa whilst watching your videos. Just made some lemon 🍋 lime and orange curds with fruit and eggs from olio, and i then give it away to friends and neighbours.

Disgusting, and we have cost of living crisis, many can’t even afford to buy much food still, this should all be given to charity so that it can be given to those in need and used properly to help those most in need. Such a shameful society we live in 🤦🏼‍♂️

Maybe try and get your local councillor/MP involved - take photos of all the food waste and get the MP to contact the stores about redistribution to nearby shelters etc. My local M&S donates loads, including flowers to the local park cafe to hand out to the community. It's got to be worth a try - that chilled produce could feed so many people in need.

They should put all the food wat they are going to get rid of all in a Trolley put 10p on each item and I bet it would all go. It would stop waste and it would help some many people buy good food. I used to work at a retail and I used to do the reductions and the lot went in about half a hour.

Insane indeed. These big companies should be absolutely ashamed of themselves throwing away this amount of food when people in this country are starving and can’t afford to buy foo 😡. Give the food to food banks or tell people that if they go to the back door after closing time, this food will be available to those in need for free. No excuse to not give this food away rather than waste it and let it go to landfill. Totally wrong, totally disgusting practices from these big companies 😡😡😡

I would have taken all the leeks because you have to wash them anyways (and I love leeks) I would also have grabbed the limes. I think I would have taken some of the sliced meats, it has a lot of preservatives, so unless they stink or look off they are most likely ok. Plus it depends on the outside temperature too.

Hello Everyone! Stores are prohibited from donating here in the States and I'm sure every where because of potential liability. In fairness to some stores in NJ; they do donate to the foodbanks; just not on a regular basis so much waste goes into the dumpsters.

Not here. There are surplus waste teams that collect food from stores and distribute (i was a collector) problem is some stores (like icelands) couldn't be bothered to process the donations and would rather throw it in the bin

OMG these companies should incur huge financial penalties for chucking out food instead of donating it. They should a three day before Sell by date, one the first the public get to buy it. The second or third day it given to food banks and charitable organisations cause that is just pure criminality throwing it in the bin.

All that food should go to food banks and homeless centres. With anything they don't want perhaps going to feed animals at the zoo or something. And what the animals don't want, that can be recycled or composted.
