I've bitten the bullet and bought this build. Well almost. Swapped the lexar nm790 for a crucial p5+ 2TB and bought a B grade RYZEN 7 7700X 5.4mhz from CCL and an ASRock challenger rx7700xt. Total cost £1307. Will be watching this video regularly in preparation for building myself. Thanks for the great vids. Very entertaining but most importantly extremely informative....

Going for the same cpu/gpu. Can you run 1440p on 165Mhz screen? Are you overal happy with the build? Any things you would change in terms of noise/performance? i would place an extra 2x 140mil fans on top but idk if that's overkill or not. Thanks!
@@Dailyrider94 Fortnite/MW3 runs at 1440p 170-180fps, but mind that this is without raytracing or most other lighting options. I‘m pretty happy, but i should have gotten the 2TB SSD for the build. CPU Temps are completly fine, GPU temps are a little higher, so maybe 2 extra fans for cooling wouldn‘t hurt. Overall i‘m very happy with the build, this in my opinion the sweetspot on this budget. 3:44 To be fair, I don't think you'll find a wide selection of 2x8GB 5600-6000 kits with okay timings (CL28-36) at a decent price. As per pcpartpicker right now, the cheapest 2x8GB kit goes for roughly $60, but it's 5600 CL40, and going up to 6000 CL36, the cheapest kit goes for $83. But going 2x16GB? A 5600 CL38 kit roughly goes for $80, and 6000 CL30 for $90.
I would go for an air cooler on this cheaper build especially as your running a not very power hungry CPU. For reference I'm air-cooling my 7800x3d and it's perfectly fine not being watercooled.
this is almost the same pc as mine i just have the 7600x cpu instead of the 7700, and in a 1440p monitor at max settings, I always get over 110 fps in triple A games
i just got a 7700xt. it was on sale for 539 canadian dolllars (396 usd) so i felt it was a good buy. i wanted the 7900gre, but it would have been too large for my case, and i would have also needed a new power supply. it was also 759 canadian dollars. and the 7800xt was 699. i think i bought the right card. i think...
@@BeignetCODM i thought it was a relatively decent buy. though i'm still stuck in the mentality of sub-200 mid-range cards. my brand new rx590 was 179.99. canadian! so 539 still gave me great pause.

@@BeignetCODM not safety reasons. i'm afraid to ask. that's just where i got it from! and some ram! and a new nvme drive. not to mention my cpu, case, and old ram. i do tend to stick to the shipped and sold by newegg listings though.
The only problem is that prices change. So if he included the prices and two weeks (or a year later) from now you check the links, its possible they're more or less expensive which will lead to annoyed commenters.

Would you do a video or make recommendations for a video editing pc build? Just to say I really enjoy your channel and want to venture into my first build at some point but would like it to be good for editing and gaming.
Would you be able to talk about how to build a "reliable" PC while maintaining the power this style of PC has? I see a lot of builds about features, power and fast PCs but I am curious about reliability. Other than choosing the manufacturer of course
Just building and keeping it free from any damage or static and getting quality parts should be enough for reliability. Look for parts from brands that have longer/better warranties if reliability is a concern
@@baoquoc3710 terms like “reliable” are often subjective though. everyone’s definition is different. even then, what makes you think this one couldn’t keep going for a decade?
Very informative and fun video as always! Couple of questions though; would it make sense to have a separate ssd nvme for windows etc alone? And then another for all other extra applications? My main use would be productivity with a wee bit of gaming from time to time. Also, are sata ssd still useful? I wanna build my own pc, but am sometimes a bit stumped by it all 😅
Just in case or just having more. For example I have an all white build with a 4090/ 7800x3d/ 64 gigs of ram. You can just go with an 850 watt power supply but I went with 1,000 watt power supply.
Solid air cooler, 750w psu and there is 7800xt in that box.. I run 5800x3d/7800xt with 660w platinum psu with 0 problems, any branded 750w would be more than good enough.. 7700xt will become best buy gpu when they drop price to 400$. Until then 7800xt is more logical option for 50$ more...
The most important thing for a newer builder to remember is the PSU. It is always better to go to high instead of too low. Many new builders will use an 80 bronze 800/850 and they are nowhere near as stable, reliable and able as a gold or plat rated 850w. I made a massive mistake when doing this exact build and had not noticed I had a 750w psu in the case I was upgrading (fish tank case) and was just putting in the aio/7700xt/7700x and removing a 5700xt/rgb fans and the 7600. When I launched Halo Inf and had youtube up at the same time and got the screen flicker... I knew. All of us forget or get lazy at some point. The most important part of the video is pay attention to the PSU and think about if it is a right now psu or for long term use and upgrading. I must have bought a "right now" psu when I originally built my og rig and didnt give it another thought. Cheers for the build. I use my 7700xt in 4k just fine as well. Bit power hungry but does great.
@@matthewm9564 If it isnt a bronze off brand that only supports 610 when it says 750w, yes it would be. Avoid the chinese brands, especially game max and rage, they seem to be the big sellers and people are paying a lot for very little considering tehy do not even get the watts claimed. Saving a few bucks never works out.
@@Ladioz starfield is already making topend systems even barely 60fps, while 7700XT is only at the 6750XT level of performance so it can sometimes very sweating
The rx6750xt seems a better option. I used a website that tells you predicted bottle necks. I’m using the 5 7600x and with the 6750 it only bottle necks at 4K but with the 6800 it bottle necks at 1080 1440 and 4K. Now I’ve not built mine yet still waiting on the case so I’ve only got the websites info to work with.
Will you prefer to pair a r5 7600x with the Asrock b650m pro rs or a Asus tuf b650 plus wifi? I can get the Asus for 10-20 dollars more. Is it worth getting the Asus over the Asrock and why?
@@ericiav thank you! And yes I imagine that is the next step i was looking at 7800x3d myself but decided against it when I realised I need whole new motherboard and ram sticks however definitely will be the way to go for me in the future
I thought I was going AMD but... When I saw Black Friday priced 12600KF $140... and B760 boards crazy low, couldn't pass it up. 10%+ better performance than Ryzen 5600 for the same price. Don't get me started on how much DDR4, SSD, and 1440p monitors have dropped.
i pressed switch button on my build gaming pc heard sharp puck noise it short burnt one of fuse box in the house i had to replace the fuse all the sockets are normal now i dont know what caused it is it power suply is it my cpu i dont see anything burnt i am scared to try again i did have a lot of rgb fans connected i took them off shall i replace my power suply just to safe

I went into MC expecting to get one of the core i7 bundles and came out with the 7900x bundle. I have a friend who built a 7800x3d system a few days before me with an MSI motherboard. So off the bat, Asus is a much nicer experience for building and we both feel Armory crate > dragon center, or at the very least, armory crate is significantly less painful to get working properly. In addition... I don't feel like this needs to be said, but my friend did not get an instruction manual with his MSI mobo. And I didn't get one with my MSI PSU either. So this might be a behavior MSI is doing lately, which looks embarrassing compared to Asus's very detailed instruction manuals and good resources. On the flip side, his POST times are significantly quicker (5s vs my like 25+s), which seems to mostly be attributed to the motherboard differences, or MSI vs Asus when EXPO is enabled. We have almost the same RAM - G.Skill ripjaws, he has CL36, I have the bundled CL30. Comparing at the same product tier, the Asus Strix Mobo is one of the highest end B650 boards, whereas most other bundled boards are lower tier. The Asus is nicer to work with because it's higher tier. Now I went for one of these because I'm doing more than gaming. If you're only gaming, or are gaming 75%+ of the time, I say just get the 7800x3d bundle. The insane savings with the 7900x bundle are there, but if you aren't going past 32GB RAM ever, that's $100 wasted. If you're not doing productivity tasks, you probably won't be looking at those products anyway.
@@trademarktmel which Asus strix b650 are you rocking? I’ve been looking at a few of them. PCIE 5.0 is apparently super future proof which my current board does not have. 7800XT is pretty good, just bought one. 7900XTX is likely fine too, just had a weird ram/board combo. WoW is only running past couple of weeks DX11 but that's the only issue that's not much of an issue for the 7800XT (think that's on Blizzard's end). Played Diablo 4 on both 3060 and 7900XTX was fine though. Mostly good experience, would say I've had equal issues on both AMD and Nvidia. More likely that the ram will cause an issue with DDR5 if the board and ram aren't a good combo.
For my country rx 7700 xt costs $510 and rx 7800xt is $150 more ie $660 ...... I was thinking of buying rx 7700 xt ..... I am getting 2 fan version is good as a 3 fan one .....or will it throttle
Got a question, my pc keep shutting off now each time I opened a game up. I repasted the CPU yesterday it run no problem today I played for a hour and it start turning off again... Any idea what the problem?
Reset bios? or power supply problem? I just got these 2 since i was watching allot of motherboard vids and there was a similarly problem... Other then that have no clue
