Sarah, You are ‘hands down’ one of the most appealing, attractive, articulate and knowledgeable women on the planet today. I discovered your channel about 3 weeks ago just prior to my daughter and I binged ( and am still) on your RU-vid site and was well prepared when we arrived. We stayed in the Frederick Hotel ( formerly the Cosmopolitan) on Chambers & West Broadway. It is an incredible starting point for the entire city. We visited and ate at many of your recommendations and were extremely happy with each choice. This trip turned out to be the best New York experience ever. We are already planning our next trip. Thank you for what you do in sharing your amazing world with the rest of us. Continued success!! You are amazing!!
Okay I live on the upper west side and I adore this city. Sarah Funk, you have successfully made me feel like I am missing out on what is right under my nose!
Just a few minutes into the video, I have to say I actually really appreciate you A.) Getting the ads/sponsors out of the way early B.) Working them smoothly into your video/script and C.) Working with sponsors actually related to your content. Also this is a great video idea. I've been to the city dozens of times as I grew up in Connecticut, but whenever making a trip down I'm often overwhelmed by deciding on what to do in a limited amount of time.
You really didn't limit the budget on this one at all haha. For anyone who is scared to come to NYC because you see this and think "I don't have $1500 (plus a flight) to spend" I FEEL YOU. A lot of these things you can do MUCH cheaper if you just plan it right. Sure maybe not the helicopter ride, but let's be real if you're trying to budget your not really planning on doing that to start with. Anyway not trying to hate on the video because I think this would be an AMAZING three days here BUT just wanted to through it out there in case anyone got discouraged ;)
Everytime I see images or hear discussions about the 9/11 horror, I weep. You said it deeply affected New Yorkers that day, I was in the US Army in Germany and now retired back to Texas. Nothing touches my emotions, as much as the regret that I did not, could not, can not fix that day. Anyway, just to say New York was ground zero, but that horror was and is felt around the world, we feel with ya on this. 😭
Thank you so much, Sarah! I visited New York last Wednesday 5/8 for the first time ever. I was only there for 12 hours as the budget and other plans. Thanks to your videos I avoided a lot of NYC scams, knew how to use the subway for the first time and visited great destinations in 12 hours. Will definitely come back to NY and spending longer time!
Hey Sarah, love the vids. I disagree with recommending Frances Tavern and Lombardi’s for lunch. The food isn’t that great in my opinion. Frances Tavern is cool for the history, but I’d only recommend drinks there. Also I strongly disagree with recommending the Freedom Tower observation deck and the Museum of Natural History. I think it’s like every other natural history museum in the U.S., and 30 Rock is a better view than One World Observatory in my opinion. I think you should have included: Bryant Park, Grand Central Terminal, and the MoMa. Love the channel though! Just wanted to share my thoughts. I recently wrote a visitors guide for NYC!
Would love a week itinerary! I'll be going in November/December and would love to space out nightlife, tourist stuff, exploring other neighbourhoods etc etc. Love love your channel, thanks for all the tips!
Get a metro card. 7 day one cost 33 dollars i think. Its so handy to use. You will fly around the city. We spend most of time in Manhattan, but I was running out of things to do on the 3rd day haha, we ended up having time to go to Connecticut for the night. Joshua Tree bar is a good spot, had 80s/90s music. Cocktails about 15 dollars.
@@hill16upthedubs Definitely planning on getting a metrocard! I keep hearing that you can do Manhattan in 3 days, so I do wonder about the other boroughs. Now you've got me considering a day trip to another state hmm..
@@EmeliaMelia We went to New Jersey for football game (soccer to the yanks), you get the Path train there, quick enough and 2.75 one way (i think), you can get one from World One Observatory. Handy enough. When going to connecticut we got the peter pan bus from port authority. They also go to Boston. I think you might be better buying online as it might be cheaper.
Of the 50+ videos I've watched on visiting New York, this is the first and only one I've seen in that knocks the dollar slices NYC has to offer But this channel gives me a very wealthy and boujie vibe so I wouldn't expect any economic suggestions anyway
Agree it’s more Manhattan which is disappointing. However to give Sarah the benefit of the doubt, most people with only 3 days will want to visit Manhattan mainly. A longer visit most people will include the other boroughs. I was in New York for 10 days earlier this year and getting around everything I wanted to see in Manhattan took quite a few days. My tip tho to people would be try and get out of Manhattan if you can as there are some treasures elsewhere.
Best pizza is in the BRONX ( in my opinion)... visit yelp dot com , insert pizza in the search box, and you'll find names and locations...ditto for all the other boroughs..Since taste is subjective, discover your own favorite place by trying out a few.
PSA: dollar pizza is not always bad. Some are amazing & some are crap. There are many videos on RU-vid of people out the find the best dollar slice. If you're on a tight budget, look there.😊
My best friend & I are turning 50 this year, we’ve been friends since 5th grade! We have a 9 day trip to NYC mid June. We have been trying to plan our days & nights out, but never been to NYC, it’s been difficult not knowing where to go. We have watched all your videos. But this one has been SUPER helpful!!!!
It’s crazy how helpful this video is for me! I’m literally in the process of booking an around the world trip this week for solo travelling in August and I was already planning to spend 3 nights in NYC. Thank you so much this video has given me a brilliant idea of how to make the most out of my first time visiting NYC!!! Loving the channel content as always!
Thank you so much Sarah for your informative helpful guides, we can't get enough of them, we are coming to NYC next March and wondered if you could send us your 3 day guide so we can print off plz.Theresa & Ian
Love the tips! I'd like to see a week-long itinerary. We'll be there in summertime (used your AirBnB code!). It will just be my step-daughter and me, so I'd also love to see videos on these topics: 1 - Places to enjoy drinks or the nightlife with a teenager in tow. Particularly interested in speakeasies and artsy things. 2 - Places to get the NYC food experience as a vegetarian. Bonus if both a meat-eater and vegetarian can enjoy their preferences at the same place. Thank you!
Another great NYC video. When I show people around the city and they request pizza, I take them to Bleeker St-West Village. You can experience some of the best of every style of NY pizza. Get the nonna Maria at Bleeker St Pizza. John's of Bleeker St for coal oven style. Right across the street is Keste' for Neopolitan and around the corner on Carmine is of course Joe's for one of the best NY street slices.
Do use that Met ticket for The Cloisters! Located at the far north end of Manhattan, it is a treasure trove of medieval art and architecture. It's on a hilltop in a park, with great views of the Hudson. You'll forget what city you're in and what century it is!
Newly subscribed to your channel! I fly to NYC at the end of the month for exactly 3 days. Watching this is perfect timing for all my planning. Thanks for sharing your fave speakeasy and food places. Cannot wait to try! Keep making great content. Love your videos - your style and delivery is so refreshing. Cheers from Toronto.
Went for a week in April. 2 ballgames Yankees, Mets. The Met, Central Park(Dakota, Strawberry Fields), Rockefeller Center, the Highline(Chelsea Market), Freedom Tower(360 view from the top), Brooklyn Bridge walk, St Patricks Cathedral, 2 Plays on Broadway, Times Sq, The SHED, Hudson River trip around the whole Manhattan Island(Statue of Liberty) and more. First time, loved it. Spent approx $2500 on the ground, excluding air & lodging. Going back soon! Loved it. But expensive.
Chelsea, Canal St... Never left Manhattan except to cross to Brooklyn for Bridge walk and also both ball games Queens and The Bronx on Subway but no exploring. Subway was great with no mistakes, and virtually no delays. 7-day card was $35 each, unlimited rides.
Hey, I'm here in New York and I wantvto thank you for vf the recommendation on Los Taco No1. Stopped in and thought they were amazing so went back the next day. Again thanks!
Yeah I was in New York for a week, and I felt that wasn’t enough. There were so many things that I missed. I’m going back again for Christmas 2021. Hopefully for 2 and a half weeks
Going for a week over Christmas with my husband, 4/5year old (she’ll be 5 on Boxing Day) and mother in law. Can’t wait! Your videos are definitely giving me some great ideas. Want to make the most out of our time there.
What’s so crazy is that I was literally just talking to my mom about me wanting to go to NYC for my 14th birthday in February, and this pops up, coincidence? I think not. :)
Absolutely LOVE your NYC videos Sarah!! I spent 2 weeks there in Aug 2017 and am hoping to go back next year. Your vids are great to reminisce to and see other ideas etc for things to do!! 💕🗽
I love your videos so much and especially because I just discovered your channel and before I think of something else, a recommended video pops up. I live in NY and this a great gem to have especially as a student. So thank you for being consistent, it’s greatly appreciated!
I love your content. NYC fascinates me , maybe one day I will go. I love to see this city from your point of view. I won't tell anyone about Garfunkles but thanks for sharing. I know the feeling bcos I was born in a hidden gem and also now live in a hidden gem and it's only natural to want to keep secret gems a secret. Your so beautiful and relatable. Im happy to give you likes. And maybe one day I will visit my with my son when he is old enough. Many thanks.
@@ricardocampos6517 - It's true, and it's unethical and disingenuous for her to not reveal her corporate sponsors. How do you think she affords her $7000/mo apartment?
Hi Sarah, your videos are very helpful, I am going to New York for the first time with my college trip tomorrow. I will follow your tips and tricks for my visit. Thank you 😊
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE WHAT YOU DO AND HOW YOU DO IT. I WOULD TO SEE MORE CONTENT FOR TRAVELLERS WITH MOBILITY AND COMPLEX DISABILITIES. LOVE FROM NEW ZEALAND.
Your videos are fantastic! My ex is going to NYC in October to visit our son - who moved to NYC a little over two years ago. I forwarded your link to him and plan on using your suggestions myself when I come to NYC in the Spring :)
Hi Sarah, Another great video, we are coming over from the UK on 15th May for 8 days, so we will certainly do some of you suggestions........will get a taxi from JFK, but we are determined to use the train when we return😁 Keep up the excellent vlogs😘
Wow 😲 I've been missing out on my own home 🗽🚖🚦☕city 💯 totally Loved your video😍Thank you so much🤗💐 .. RU-vid recommend feed brought me here to your channel 🎃👻 Enjoying your channel .. peace☮️& Love💟
You are appreciated! I have't had a vacation in years and have never been to NY. You are making this very helpful and have definitely given me a trip to look forward too! Thank You so Much! I just have to find a way to squeeze in a Yankees game and its a perfect trip for me lol. Thanks Again!
Just spent the last four days in Manhattan. Thank you Sarah for all the video recommendations and do’s/dont’s! It made for an amazing first (and anniversary) trip to NYC for the wife and I.
Ok, here's an idea for ya. You offer tours and you know a lot of great places for cocktails. I totally recommend that you design a drinking tour where you take a select group around to places like Garfunkel's and other killer haunts of yours. I'd pay to do that. If this idea blows up for ya, you'll owe me a drink!
I loveee love love your videos! thank you for making a tourist visit better haha thanks to your tips - and I'm talking about a mix of all of your videos - im not gonna get scam in NYC the netx time I go! keep like that Sarah!
THANK YOU SO MUCH Sarah for sharing with us your precious tips on the city ! I'm coming back to NYC in a few days for my 5th time and Always excited to rediscover your fantastic city
Le Bernardin also is also open for lunch! Their prix fixe menu is such a good value if you are into haute cuisine. Excluding alcohol, lunch can be had after tax and tip for $120-ish. A Michelin three star experience at that price is unheard of, and of course the food and service is really great. Reservations still recommended, though, and dress code same as dinner.
Thanks Tracy Martin! If you found this helpful, you might want to check out the other videos in my NYC series here: bit.ly/NYCplaylistNew. Have fun in New York and I hope you subscribed!
This is AWESOME!! Thank you so much for putting this all together! The hubby and I are incredibly stoked to come spend a week in New York in early October. I would LOVE to see another video on your itinerary ideas for longer stays! Thanks again!!! 🙌🏼❤️
We just left NYC (from Germany), and I was actually keeping an eye out if saw you on the streets at any time ;) . We had 7 full days here, and found it amazing! We did the helicopter flight at the beginning though, because: if the weather would have been bad, we could have re-scheduled. That's better in my opinion. My favorites: helicopter ride, 9/11 museum, Brooklyn Bridge view from Dumbo, High Line, Intrepid museum.
@@SarahFunky we did follow your Gallow Green tip as well, but sadly it was the rainy last Sunday, and I always thought they had inside AND outside seating -and it was so super cold xD . My husband brought a button down shirt, I put on my fanciest blouse ever, and then it was too cold to take off the jackets ^^ . So we drank 1 cocktail each and left. They were AMAZING though, and the look of the place as well! Still got good photos ;)
I would never get a Lyft or Uber or Taxi in NYC. Traffic is horrible and you’ll just be stuck in traffic the whole time. Walking or subway are much faster.
Sarah thank you so much for all the great ideas in this video. My family and I will be making our first trip to NYC over the Labor Day weekend and will definitely use a lot of your suggestions.
Hey Sarah! Love all your videos. Coming over in march for 6 days…. 2 couples - celebrating e and my bff 50th birthdays 🎉😂 any itinerary you could provide would be awesome 😀 defo doing a night cruise and a b/way show. Also hoping to see New Jersey and go get our hair done 🫣 and go to a certain someone’s bakery … thanks toots … have a great day 😀😃🏴✈️🇺🇸
Me and wife are travelling to new york in October for 1 week, we are from Wicklow. Did you manage comfortably on 100 a day and still get to do all the tourist stuff? It doesn't seem any more expensive than Dublin so I think we will manage fine.. how long did you stay for
@@jimmyk3nny837 we were there for 7/8 days. We bought yankees and NY Red Bull tickets before we left and left the rest until we got there. Mainly because we hadnt a clue what we were doing that day. We didnt research food places so we kinda ate on the go so if you prepare you should be ok, we didnt really drink too much, mainly because we were knackered from trying to squeeze things in.

@@hill16upthedubs Thanks for the reply and explaining where you went and giving us some tips aswell.. it seems like you got to do lots of nice things we have a good idea of all the stuff we want to do so really looking forward to it.. Did you stay in a hotel or an Airbnb? We have a hotel in Queens temporary booked but I'm reading alot about these Airbnbs they seem cheaper than a hotel but I'm not sure what's the best option. The hotel we have booked is the Lic Plaza hotel it's look nice and has decent reviews.. any hotels in Manhattan are way to expensive
Yeah we were in Manhattan at the westgate hotel nice and handy. But a metro ticket, they are 33dollars you will use it a lot. So easy to get around. Puts Ireland to shame.
