Hey! Paul, Barkly Hwy mmmmmm! Still not good currently, lots of potholes. There are warnings in place but we learned to watch for skid marks from the trucks when approaching the worst of them. Still a lot of work to be done. Hubby said in the Alice best fuel stop is BP in Whittaker Street, a prepaid truckie stop. Tenant Creek BP was also good. We stayed at Barkly Roadhouse, their facilities are coming along nicely after the fire last year. Curtin Springs was lovely but fuel $325.9 🙄Enjoy your travels.🥰

Great Episode guys. If you wouldn’t mind ensuring that any roads (including to Hip Camps) if they are ok for non off road vehicles. We travel in a Van so we would like to be sure that your itinerary is ok for us as well… Paul, I would love to hear (even quickly) what your daily schedule is for file dumps from your gear. As a photographer/videographer, it intrigues me how you plan your shoots for the day or do you simply wing it? Do you dump footage daily? I’m sure there are many that would also like to know how to photography/video more effectively - a tour can’t be enjoyed if your always looking through a lens. We have a 2 week return trip to Townsville from the Gold Coast coming up and I’d like to know how others capture and document their special moments, even if it’s not for a You Tube Channel. 😊
@TheFeelGoodFamily
@TheFeelGoodFamily Год назад
Hello and yes will do 👍 all roads we plan to go on and have so far are all good for on road vehicles 🚗- we may go off track in Kings Canyon but will definitely explain that it is a off road road 😅 I film drive and dump footage and scrub footage every single day so cameras can be charged and footage backed up, then at 5am next day I edit what I can to get a jump on the Final Cut. It is a lot to do if you are working and travelling every day on the 28 days but if you only have 4 weeks school hols/annual leave it would be amazing as you’d not be thinking about work - we really want to work our butts off over the 28 days to make sure we can give viewers the whole experience we are having - hope that helps and the footage will make up an 8 part series even though we cover in 28 days 💙🇦🇺😊👍 we are buzzing with this trip it is so incredible 🙌😎🏕️ thanks again PG

@@TheFeelGoodFamily thanks Paul for the comprehensive reply. I’ll certainly spend more time on the planning for our filming. It’s nice to know you rough edit along the way. I know this episode was done many months ago. I just would like to ask if I may, was there a particular reason you chose to go clockwise on this trip? We are thinking to do much the same journey from Brisbane however my thoughts were to go counter clockwise. 🤔
@TheFeelGoodFamily
@TheFeelGoodFamily 6 месяцев назад
Hi Craig, great question 👍 the reason was because when we set off parts of the Barkley Highway were closed due to flooding…. So we knew the longer we left that part of the journey the more chance we had of it reopening and as it turned out it reopened a few days before we arrived to that section 😅 albeit in a patched up but accessible state 🙏🇦🇺🕺💙🍻🏕️. Ideally (and humorously) you’d travel counter clockwise as you can safe a small amount on fuel as you are travelling on the inside/left lane making it a shorter distance to travel therefore saving a few dollars in fuel 😅🤩👏 safe travels and enjoy every moment Cheers Paul

Is travelling around these central Australia areas suitable for a 2wd vehicle or should you have a 4WD? I have a new 2wd Outlander. Thinking of buying a small on road caravan too. Are the roads (particularly dirt ones) too rough for it?
@TheFeelGoodFamily
@TheFeelGoodFamily Год назад
Hi Greg, you can definitely travel with 2WD and access central Aus as most roads we travel on this trip are bitchumen. There are plenty of roads off the track that are only 4WD access. You can travel from Adelaide to Uluṟu to Alice Springs to Darwin to Kakadu and Litchfield all on bitchumen in a 2WD 👍 stick to the tar and you’ll be fine
@KimberleyJaskolski
@KimberleyJaskolski Год назад
We are getting a 24.8 foot caravan. We know we need to get a new/secondhand car to tow it what would u recommend? I am having trouble finding one. It also has to be automatic as I can only drive it. Hubby can drive both. There are 6 of us, 2 dogs and a cat.
@TheFeelGoodFamily
@TheFeelGoodFamily Год назад
Wow!! That is a big rig 😊 I think you will need to really look at the van weights fully loaded (as you have the van already in play… ) once you know those numbers you can look for a vehicle that has the weight capability to safely and legally tow it. It would be good to ask this question in a caravanning group that may have someone towing the same van model and see what they have chosen as their vehicle - you can then connect and ask them their experience etc. all the best guys 🙏😊
