Another interesting video! Keep them coming. I have multiple Magic Shine Monteer lights, ranging from the 3500 to the 8000, so I am super familiar with the incredible brightness of the Monteer line. That said, the 12000 has to be just over kill. I typically ride with my 3500 on my helmet and either my 5000 or 8000 on the front, depends on which bike I am riding as I am often just being lazy and don't want to take off the light head from the bike. The 3500/8000 combo is pretty much perfect for me. I can only imagine an 8000/12000 combo would be like. I will say this, I wish Magic Shine would build a higher capacity battery pack for the lower end Monteer(5000-8000 series) lights. Better yet, make one battery pack with dual power outlets so I could both on one pack. Having the helmet light bouncing around in my pack get's a little annoying since it isn't very light weight. Best case scenario would be to combine the two MJ-6118 10,000 mAh packs I strap to my frame into ONE housing that could power both lights simultaneously. Instead I take two packs on my frame, plus a spare 6118 as a backup AND two 6116C for my 3500 helmet light. That is a lot of extra crap to carry around for my longer 4-5 hr night rides where I ride to the trail and back. Hell I even carry a backup RN 1500 in my pack as just in case.

Ya I believe you’re right, the 3500 and 8000 is perfect combo. Can’t beat the spot on the 3500. I only purchased the 12000 for the road capabilities as I normally leave my house to the trail and I need to take the road. But I haven’t been able to enjoy my 12000 as it steps down brightness after 10 seconds

@@justinrozon7 I can only imagine what my local law enforcement would say to me if I rode with a 12000 on full bright. As it is, I've gotten stopped several times by them with only having just the 8000 on the second lowest settting. When I show them just how bright it really gets, they just go never mind...It's funny.

@@That_Stealth_Guy damn you’ve been stopped? 😂 ya on the road with the 8000 I go lowest setting and aim it down at the road, but the 12000 is a beauty with the cut off beam

@@justinrozon7 In this part of rural Texas it's rare to see anyone biking much at night except those up to no good. So any time there is someone new on shift at night they'll inevitably stop me. Once they figure out it out they leave me alone, until the NEXT newbie comes along. What's even more funny is when they realize that I am typically riding a bike as old or OLDER than they are. If funny to see their reactions to a 22 yr old Cannondale Jekyll with a Lefty all lit up out on one of the back roads on the way to the closest trails. Doubly so, when it's cold or raining out!

Have you tried your 8000 on your helmet? Or tried it but you liked the 3500 better upp there ? 40g difference only.

Great review! Did you have to purchase a separate mount for the light to be mounted upside down? Also I though the mount was garmin style mount and wondering how you got the wahoo to work? Thanks again.

Great review. I wish I could say the same for my 12000. I have the 8000 also, but my 8000 is way better than my 12000. I believe my 12000 has a temp sensor issue. As it only stays at full brightness for less then 10 seconds and steps down to about 6000. I’m waiting on magicshine support, but the one person I spoke to is just telling me it’s normal light performance… And this is testing it out at 2 Celsius. The light itself is only a tad warm to the touch. My 8000 gets so hot I wouldn’t want to leave my fingers on it for more than a couple seconds. Hopefully I get sent a replacement. So far I just put my 8000 back on
@RunBikeMike
@RunBikeMike 7 месяцев назад
WOW that is not good. I hope Magicshine can get that fixed for you. The format of the 8000 is tried and true with it being the same for the 3500, 5000, and the 6500.

@@RunBikeMike ya I don’t believe the earlier models have any “new tech” in it, I wish this 12000 didn’t either. To much electronics to mess things up. Yes I hope so also, but so far the road hasn’t been as easy as it should be…this is the first product I have issues with and I have 8 products of theirs with no issues, so it is a tad frustrating. I first sent them a message about it Dec 9 so it is dragging, now I know it’s Christmas and new year so I’ll hold off a bit longer but I am losing hope..

How do you feel about 8000 vs 12000 now? Have you tried the 12000 on your helmet? Ive got a 3500 but I'm still deciding on 6500/8000/12000. Not blinding oncoming Trafic is a plus. I think I prefer the most power on the helmet. What do you prefer ? Not that I've tried a lot of different setups or anything.

I haven’t used the 12000 on my helmet. I know you can but I feel it would be heavy for that. As for riding really there isn’t a ton of difference once you get above 5000. And when you put two light at 5000 or more the light level is crazy.
@justinrozon7

@@erikd6124 I have not tried it on my helmet. I’m still having issues with my 12000 so right now I prefer my 8000. I think mine is defective. Waiting on magicshine to do some testing. The 3500 throw is amazing. I watched another RU-vid reviewer that has the 3500 helmet and 8000 combo

Bought two solid flashlight mounts from amazon for $4.5 each. Then two flashlights with two 26650 batteries each and a legit XHP90 LED chip for $13 each. So for $35 bucks I turn day into night on my night rides. Can't do downhill on them and trails might kill them, so that's a thing. But if you street ride or ride the MO farm roads, it's super sick. But thanks Mike for focusing on night riding. I feel that gets overlooked by all the other videos out there.

Guys, I have had 5000, 8000 and the 12000... the 3500 and the 6500 are equal to lilttle sisters of 12K. The MAIN reason NOT TO GO WITH 12K is the KINGSIZE battery. It is just too big, even to my 25kg e-bike TANK. To me the best option is the one with REMOTE. It just is so multi-usable , for instance while camping, set the light to the tree outside at night. Grest secondary use. ALSO the 3500/5000 is all the light you will need. I'm saying that, me, who always want the have the top model. NOT ON MONTEERS, that is ;)

I own and use the 3500. I have in boxes with free returns the 6500 and 8000. Applications: Mtb in forests and commuting. Should i just stick to the 3500 and 8000 or try to find a good deal on a 12000 and use that in compinqtions qith the 3500? I just dont know. Ive other lights as well with like 960 lumens, quite spoty and not at all wide.

One of the big benefits of the 12000 is that you can use the center led in traffic and it won’t shine in on coming traffic. The longer battery life on lower but still high settings is impressive too. But the setup of a 3500 and 8000 is a killer setup. You can’t go wrong with either. If you do go for the 12000 use my code RunBikeMike15 and save 15%. That is a nice chunk of change on the 12000. Either way let me know what you went with and how you like the setup.

I have had my 12000 for 2 days now and tried to use the phone app and now my light is not working at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated
@RunBikeMike
@RunBikeMike 7 месяцев назад
Ok so my suggestion would be to slide right to left in the app. You will see a red square. Click that to delete the light. Then make sure your light is charged. Hold down the power button on the light until the light turns on. If the light turns on then go into the app and repair it. Also when connecting your light to a the charged battery you should see led lights by the button. Make sure those are lit up along with the ones on the battery.

mount the 8000 properly right way up and on top of the bars , it not reaching its potential
