I take a lot of safety precautions based on my level of experience and not all of them are shown on camera. Don't do anything you aren't comfortable with. Wow, Blake! - one of the absolute best videos I have ever seen with respect to camera work, close-ups, artistic views, music, etc., etc. etc. Man, you are one talented guy - I couldn't even begin to guess the hours you spent putting this CNC together, building the enclosure, adding your electrical work and switches, the video production, etc. Wow, just wow! I am so proud that a fellow Santa Cruz "One Car Garage Workshop" woodworker is so talented in so many different ways. Makes me think about hanging up my cameras and deleting my Premier Pro since my videos absolutely pale by comparison (darn you!). I am a big fan and your sponsors sure get their value from sponsoring you. Makes me wish I was a younger man with enough time to emulate you.... but alas, I think I will just go play tennis instead.

Dude that’s some seriously awesome upgrades. I love my Shapeoko and couldn’t be happier with its performance and all I’ve been able to make with it. I have a large table with 2x4’s sticking out above it where the rest of my cabinet should be. I still want to finish it, but after I got the Suck-It, I lost all motivation. Sound may be the only reason, well maybe lighting. But the sawdust is a non issue.

ManCraftingTM I actually crashed it during of of the very first cuts. The bit ran into the metal base of the machine and sprayed Carbide shrapnel all over the place. And my kids like to stand in front of it and watch while it cuts. Also this was before I had the Suckit. So safety was the first motivation to enclose it (and dust) but I can also tell you with all that insulation it is WAY quieter.

Blake! Have you thought about releasing plans for your custom enclosure? It wouldn't be a bad new revenue stream for you as I feel this is one of the best designed enclosures for the XXL. Especially considered how big the community is. Just a thought! Love your stuff as always, man!

Ya know....this ain’t even fair. That setup is incredible. I got my CNC (XXL version) a few months ago and I haven’t even opened the box yet. Partly cause I’m not ready yet cause still building up my garage as my workspace, but also cause I’m a little intimidated by putting it together and also learning the programming. I’m curious to your level of knowledge you have/had when you got the CNC. Anyway, all the add-ons are awesome. To say nice work would be an extreme understatement.

When I got my XXL I started assembly but got stuck at a step and then ignored it for several months because I was overwhelmed with everything involved. Now I’ve been running it for six months, designing in Fusion 360, and recently started diving into 3D models. You can do it Greg.

I just ordered my XXL this morning (I keep coming back to this video for inspiration on the enclosure). I have zero experience, but I've been playing around in Carbide Create for the last few days. It's really easy to pick up. And, from all of the unboxing/assembly videos I've seen, it's really straightforward. You can do it!

Blake, very cool setup! I admire what you have done with the space you have. Very well thought out and usable. Your videos make me keep looking at the space I have and how I can better use it. A CNC is my next investment in my workshop! Got to find room for it! I got a Creality Ender 3 3d Printer back in December and had so much fun with it, Getting ready to build an enclosure for it for better temp control for printing with different filaments like PETG and ABS. I have made some cool things for the workshop like router templates for doing some inlay work and sanding blocks. All kinds of uses for it just like a CNC machine. Keep it up Blake and looking forward to seeing what comes out of the Weber Workshop next! Yes, I reapply sunscreen often as I am bald and do not like for my head to get sunburned......lol

Any plans for the cabinet itself? Yes I read the disclaimer! ;) Even if you feel comfortable (or especially if you do) you should never put squishy things near energized spinning things. Never take it for granted that something won't turn on even if the emergency stop has been smashed. Unplug it!

*Wyze security camera is only $25 on Amazon, Amazon's top seller plus free cloud storage, can view it live on WiFi or anywhere in the world for free!* I've had Reolink cams before that've failed (POE), they have the WORST support I've ever dealt with. By the way, this is the best I've ever seen for accessories and additions that arent on the CNC machine itself (there's another video, dont recall the RU-vidr but he's a lot more mechanically driven, scientist like in his approach by upgrading the actual machine). I really hope Carbide 3D is paying you well for these heavy endorsements!

2:00 Hard mounting the board metal to metal seems like a bad idea, perhaps a rubber pad in between the mounting plate, or some rubber bushings on the PCB standoffs to minimize vibrations on the board. If this is bad for other electronics, surely the vibrations from this are not good for longevity. Also, Bender bends, Roberto cuts...awesome detail though. And with that, is it Hecho en Mexico? Love this entire thing, the organization solutions, the ergonomics, the box, the camera, all of it.

I haven't watched this video until now because watching CNC videos wasn't relevant at the time. But now I'm very interested in getting the Shapeoko. I really like your mods for the power switches and lighting. The only thing I didn't see was a link for the lights and the tap switch. If I ever get one I'll definitely reach out again here or on IG. Trying to find space in my small workspace (yes, smaller than yours) will be the bigger challenge! Great video and edit

I'm lurking on youtube for ideas on dust enclosures for my CNC. Yours is the best I have seen so far. AND great job on video production - amazing!! I was wondering how tall is your enclosure? I want to make sure I am tall enough to not interfere with dust collection hoses, etc.

Impressively efficient use of space and attention to detail! All with a refreshing sense of humor! I am now an enthusiastic YT subscriber and IG follower! I plan on ordering my Shapeoko XL this Black Friday, and will be copying your enclosure design closely (assuming that's ok). One question (among many to come I imagine): Does your box provide an entry point for air to come into the otherwise sealed container? Say, in the lower area of the back? This seems necessary to keep up the CFMs of the vac. Also, does your vac enclosure have a similar exhaust port? Thanks also for the super high quality videography and production. Makes a big difference!

Mark Crook Good question I was waiting for someone to ask that... it exhausts back into the CNC enclosure otherwise it would create negative pressure (and restrict airflow) since the enclosure is fairly sealed. It also further reduces the noise that way because it is a closed loop. And that’s why I added the thermometer so I can monitor the temp. If it climbs I can just open the top lid for a few seconds and everything cools down quickly.

I like the laser SO much better. More accurate, easier to use, quieter, no hold downs required, no crashing bits and ruining work. The CNC had about a 6-12 month learning curve to get comfortable with it. The Glowforge was about 6-12 minutes. I'm considering getting rid of the CNC but there are still times when I might need it.
