Well I'm 42 years old in September and I still remember it like it was yesterday when I was speaking before the class in fourth grade and I referred to black people as colored and of course my teacher was black and it was on that day that I was informed of how insensitive my comments were but the really cool part about this story is the teacher was just like hey we don't really appreciate that terminology when referring to us and that was the end of it and there was no bad blood and I wasn't called a racist and since then I have not referred to black people as colored people but that was thirty years ago.
