So glad you finally came up on my feed. We live in a Pacific Domes 30' dome and man I wish I would have know about your site. We need to upgrade, obviously. Hoping to glean as much information as I can from you. Love our dome but seriously it isn't wood and it perspires pretty bad in the winter. Thank you for putting this out there!
For me a hexagon with a star of David in the middle. Supported on only three points of an equilateral triangle. If it goes out of level, just jack up or lawer one leg.
this was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much. Subscribed! Edit: 5 months later, after I completed the project: 1. Many of the benefits of this plan evaporate when you are on a hilly location. I would not recommend this design if that’s what you’re facing. 2. I should have noticed this, but the materials he suggests for fastening things together is really lacking. Maybe it goes beyond this, and his whole concept for fastening this together is wacky. He definitely needs to update this. I had to add/change a lot. 3. Cutting enormous 4x6s, which are never perfectly straight, at exact angles so that they overlap to meet these specifications is extremely difficult for anyone, imo. This fact alone makes this “easy peasy” plan kind of a myth. And it resulted in a harder layout, not an easier one.
This looks so much better for a yurt deck plan then what I have been seeing. I looked for your deck plan on your website but didn't see any options/plans available. Am I just missing them?
I would love a video on setting up a dome foundation for a greenhouse with a layer of crushed rock over landscaping fabric for drainage on the inside. Something to tie the dome down to the ground so Mother Nature doesn't blow it away in all her windy glory.
This is awesome; do you make these for people? Not sure I could do this but you do give good instruction. I want to see the dome on top. Thank-you. The way you build looks easy and practical not to mention I don't understand why domes aren't used more because of their superior strength against elements.
Hello!! I have a 5m (16.4 foot dome) and I am wondering if I am able to use this plan design to make my platform. These plans are for 15, 20, and 23 foot design. Would some extra deck around the dome be an issue for water getting under the dome if we built a 20 foot platform I guess is the question. I really appreciate the simplicity of this design and I hope to be able to use it. Thank you so much
Hey there! So it kind of depends on your climate as far as the water seeping in… I personally would want there to be as little overhang as possible for that reason. If you get the plans let me know, I can give you an exact number to use to scale the plans to your exact size
@@trilliumdomes I really appreciate that. I was thinking the same thing. I am in New Brunswick and we have good winters here. I will reach out when I purchase the plans. It will be within the week. I cannot thank you enough.
Can you make a deck pack on your website for people who already have a yurt or dome but need a deck for them? I also see you only have domes on the website and not yurts, and I need a yurt to make it through the extreme cold in winter where I am. I would have certainly purchased your deck plans or kit if you had them! And if you sold a yurt pack I might have gone for that too!
love videos dude. Tell me this, how do you think they'd do in places where there's lots of snow? Couple of years ago my area got 864.7cm of snow over the winter period.
@@trilliumdomes music t.o my ears buddy. I'm playing with an idea of making a couple to keep horses in. It'll be a few years away before I get to it but really like this idea for the future. Thanks and all the best!
Do you sell kits? I’m thinking about creating a glamping dome for Airbnb type stuff and love the idea of using wood the way you have.. Looks beautiful and would be very interested in letting the first be one by you. .
I haven’t had anything engineered but I follow span tables for the designation of timber sizes. You can always double up joists and increase the member heights if you’re concerned about span / loads!
Can you elaborate on the helicoil you are using to set the posts in the ground? I've seen those in the past but normally they are set with a skidsteer and put in the ground 8ft with like 32,000 psi force.
Okay, I really like designs and content in general offered here.. however, I don't think the traditional plans are complicated, or hard. As an essentially novice builder I was able to build the traditional 30ft design quite easily, although yes it took time to make all the cuts
Hi Johnny, I'm curious to find out what you are using for ground screws on your next project? I've been researching helical pile options for a while now. Would love to see what you are going to use for the 5000 lbs support rating for each screw. Thanks, Joshua
I've got deck plans that come with my 16' zome that is pretty similar to this design. All you'd have to do is cut the sheathing into a circle on top of it 🤙
The acorn sauna zome has deck plans included. The 16’ dome just has a base layout. While you certainly could put the zome on the dome base, if you wanna perfect fit it would be wise to do one specifically for that. Some folks like the deck to be a bit bigger though
This is amazing! I built a 20' 4V dome out of 1"EMT in my backyard and need to build a deck. I live in Florida and was wondering if you could just set the bottom portion of deck on blocks instead of raising up high with posts?
