The modern day 9-5 job has become a recipe for burnout! It has become a Fast-paced work environment with little to no breaks in between work - Strict deadlines and multiple tasks to juggle all at once - High customer service expectations from the client all the time - Long commutes in traffic (up to 2 hours!) leaving you spent - Repeat this cycle day whole week in and day out, with no end in sight And to make matters worse, some countries are even adopting a 9-6 workday! Moving away from the 9-5 working hours.
That's so true and the 9am -6pm is also becoming a myth, in real its much more than that, spending 10+hrs on job is becoming a normal thing.. no wonder we hate our jobs..
Do you have a 9-5/6 workday? You're lucky. I have a 9-9/10 pm workday. Thanks to Global working environment, US clients, wfh etc. It's no longer the 8-9 hrs 😢
Nailed it . Regarding IT managers with Narcissistic personality disorder, they always over look long term goals of organization. Over hiring in IT and the hype is killing youth's ability to find better careers of their interests. Managers need to be smart.
If there's anything becoming obsolete, it is the role of management. Companies must ask, how many people do they need sitting around 98% of the time doing nothing but scheduling unnecessary meetings, one-on-ones, and performance evaluations. 😳
I really supppot the ineffecient manager point , as i have personally seen now a days not MNC but many startups tends to hire untrained , underqualified , managers for cost cutting and that what leads to massive organization politics wrong feesbacks ,wrong hiring , and frustrated subordinates who leaves organization because of them , lots of firing and organization face huge losses in pre sales , winning recurring contracts too Thanks for video and bringing lot of good points
you say all truth, in Germany and Croatia is the same, before they were better and tried to introduced person to a job slowly and now they fire people for a single thing like not having understood something in the first 2 months - immediatelyfire instead of organizing short training by senior coleagues!
Apart from US, many European countries also have quick fire policy like 7 days or 15 days layoff. But it should be noted that people in these countries get payment from government everyday even if they are jobless and useless. e.g. Finland pays Euro 37 per day to each jobless citizen of their country. Thats the reason such countries charge 50 to 60% income tax on the gross income including for expats. But in India half the money collected by the government goes in corruption and the other half is diverted to either industrialist or below poverty line schemes to lure their votes. A working middleman gets only peanuts. Apart from investment, family support and some basic education & skill, there is no booster for a common man in this country. Even with your friends and social network, not everyone would willingly help you because either they can't or you are their competitor at some point of time.
Varsha it's a fresh breath of air that you made the video on this topic. I am into IT, and I knew this is going to happen with the advent of AI. I am fairly investing in T shaped skillset or M shaped skillset. I know tech, finance, operations, some HR ops as well and all I learned this by taking some risk at startups early in my career. Now I know how to quickly ramp up operations of a company so that it scales faster.
So basically.. companies... board of directors want to squeeze the employees...to the core. it is our duty as employees to save ourselves from them and build income sources to offset the living cost...😅
Dear, you will have to plan your career path in a way, that you accumulate enough money and then you invest in other things for a parallel income and then you decide if you want to stay in a low paying and relaxed job or somethings else.. basis your situation and what you want in life..
@@dhirendravats9048 yes that's the problem...we must change job every 3 years..and we must change jobs every 5-6 years after age 40..after you age you become waste to the company...😢
Ma'am its true No one really care both on and off campus whether he/she is a fresher, joining industrial training from university, Indian Coporate sector Sucks so that's my more Indians fled to abroad for jobs. Conditions are getting worse after pandemic. As a post-graduate of 2023, I can say that big packages are futile which can toll stress as well as health. We need to be relaxed, just only Money and Skills is the survival so that he/she can spend time for family and travel. I hope you will comprehend Ma'am as your subscriber.
too many people in india and the govt. did not plan economically. i remember those riots after the military exams. the youth have no job prospects that are readily available. and nepotism NOT merit reigns supreme there.
I'm working in one field since approximately 10 years, planning now to switch in an entirely new career; taking online courses, I'm 40+, lived and studied abroad , this was spot on !!
You just nailed it on the head.. absolutely dear.. its more or less the same risk.. the only positive about jobs was that they were stable and predictable.. so yes, doing your own thing on the side or maybe full fledged is a great approach..
@@theCorporateDiariesI was also thinking same do hard work for company kick...they only think about $$$ no sympathy emotions for employees. If we spend that much time and hard work on our business it worth it.
@@Kausnew IT is service sector. Even the product making companies are also considered service sector. I think you are mistaking sectors for engineering branches
@@edik-cz i said core sector jobs, not core jobs. That's okay but since you asked, there are different sectors in an economy. Primary are farming including animals, like say dairy industry and poultry, secondary is industry as we know it what we call the core sector. Power, infrastructure, chemical, pharmaceutical, mining and energy, then comes automobile sector, these are the core sector.
@@sanchat1000 okay thanks, still it is unclear. If I am a graduated power engineer, this is a service sector. Who is in the core sector in this case? a line man? or electrician? or a builder of homes ?
If firing is done then USA japan united kingdom gives approx 1 year of salary benefits along with emi payouts, but in india except for 3 months notice period pay and job search of 3-6 months most IT employees become bankrupt and NPA of loans...Its high time IT employees union should raise voice for 1 year unemployment benefits
LOL.. who told you that 🤦.. Not sure about Japan but the info about USA, UK is terribly incorrect.. But yes India has lesser benefits in comparison to other companies..
Atleast you will get unemployment benefits. In India, you are left to the wolves and have to fend for yourself. The hire and fire culture should be usurped from India but the problem is the Government in India doesn't do anything about it.
@@aerofxunmeyes sad part is govt is unable to have any strict rules for the layoff employees or to the employers....we have to save our own money for emergency and new job takes too much time of 3-5 months causing stress and depression for middle class 😢
That is true, and the main reason for this is our population, even if govt. put rules and there comes a company who says they can't give benefits even then there will thousands of people ready to work for that company, because there are more job seekers than the number of jobs.. so.. companies gets an unfair advantage..
Can I say the current situation is the lack of HR not upskilling themselves, to have basic skills like not able to do workforce planning workload etc. Just busy in administration work
Mechanical companies are best, people enter as a employee in starting of their career and exit after retirement, no more switch. But in IT industry or Digital Marketing, sword always on neck
Listen gone are the days staying loyal to any job because loyalty is a two-way street. Companies really soured that relationship so why stay loyal to them. Also always have multiple sources of income never allow a job to be your only source of income.
One of the best content I have gone through till now. Thank you Corporate Diaries (Varsha). Please make a video on data science with deep insights and the companies that are majorily working in this field
Yes “invest in skills not in your company”. However company reaps benefits when skills are put to good use. Win-win situation for individual and company health or co worker health
I am on bench and 90 days is the notice period in my company. But they are asking me to exit with 30 days notice period... They are not offering me any severance package. What should I do?
My job demands me to work for 17 hours attending back to back useless meetings. With such toxic culture secondary source of income is impossible. Moreover there is a 2 year employment bond.
Regarding your Point of not making your Job your life. I was working in Government Company & thought that this is best job with Great Benefits.. It was only in the 6th month when they out of the blue layed me off giving the reason of Budget Cutting that i got a reality check i.e Nothing is permanent .. And we tend to give our best , atleast during Probation to get permenant. But some companies are so brutal sometimes that they will not even let you stay a few days in your Probation period completion time..
Absolutely, we tend to plan & design our life around the job and that job itself is the biggest unreliable factor.. hope you are doing fine now.. all the very best!!
In my previous company I used to work 7 days a week I used to give 95% of my time for the company but still they fired me now I have started my own business and I am very happy 🙂
Could please make videos in other areas of expertise other than IT, So majorily guys in age group of 35-45 yrs have major issues in career change, responsibilities. So that one can start alternate career, There are lot of videos that says... open barber shop, Pet walking, Etc, Need some practical stuff that would be easy to transistion from IT career to other ones the same skill to be complementry, Thank you for all the insight from your end.
Yes, there are companies which provide WFH for HRs, but those are companies which are completely remote.. not many but def. there.. you can't expect a WFH for HR in regular companies.. To get a good job, master your skills, person interviewing you should feel like you are born to be a HR... all the best!!
I wonder what will happen if US and India salaries converge. You can hire a remote experienced software engineer from West Virginia or Mississippi for about USD 40K per annum (USD 20 per hour). Even at the same pay rate, sometimes a company might prefer an Indian software engineer because they are more loyal and obedient. For example, a US worker is likely to prosecute wage theft where an H1B would likely tolerate it. One common method of wage theft is being required to work off the clock and not report the hours. Such a scenario is more like 9 to 8, not 9 to 5.
What is the best frequency periods we need to have switches? If it's for every 2-3yrs won't it be affected during next switch as new employer ask that we're continuously changing companies.
Yes, the same thing happening to me. I working in a reputed Fortune 500 organization. For the past 2 months, there has been no project relevant to my skill set. before joining the organization company promised me to have the long-running project they have. but when I joined the company then they said they didn't have a project now relevant to my skill set. it's just a "Miss Hiring" and now I get an email from the company to LWD is next month. . . . So now just start again from scratch and look for new opportunities.
That's really sad, I can understand what you are going through, nowadays you can't rely only on jobs.. hope you find something really soon.. all the best!!
This is really great advice. this is the only advice most people need. I have been trying to tell people about these since the last 15 years and not to go for these so called "Dream Companies". Pick a job even it pays you little. When you get more skills through these low paying jobs, you will reap the benefits after a few years. Great Work making this!
Best advice while you are in the job try to create asset for you. Like smart investing, try to have your own home ASAP. Once you laid off these asset will help you more than upskilling. Try to create passive income source by investment or creating asset. Upskilling looks great on paper. While in reality nobody wants to take chance if you do not have prior experince. Learn whatever comes in your way while being in the job. It is very difficult to get job after getting laid off. Switch while being in the current job. Do not spend more than 5 years in the same company if you are not getting promoted.
Hi mam i have completed my BE mechanical engineering in 2015 and later i prepared for gov jobs . Now i am thinking about mba what should i do. I dont have as such strong experience worked just few days ....? Now i am 30 yrs old plz guide ....
What if spot termination? And please prepare videos on educational organizations as becoz in present days teaching profession has become highly challenging and so do private educational organizations which have become highly corporate and even follow corporate policies in several administrative ways.
I see this as an ending of traditional corporate safe careers. These careers are neither giving the security, nor the money. I think we are better of developing some good skills that will helps us work at our own time and get paid for the value than time. I'm trying soo hard to get into an MBA but the market and condition of corporate jobs really scare me. I should focus more on filmmaking and writing (atleast part time) and see how I can monetize these.
Really very informative video. 👍🏼 Mam could you please make videos on switching career after experience of 14-15 years when the previous years spend on the technologies which became older now.
Yes mam all information is so helpful for me as a post graduate fresher. I am a nutritionist but working in sales and marketing department of a global company. Hence ended up getting a few skills for marketing as well as sales. Just 2 days back my boss indirectly asked me to change the job indicating that I dont have any growth in the current company. I am searching for better opportunities as well. I also know a health start-up in India which hires freshers in bulk and fires them in bulk in just the duration of 4-6 months. I dont know about other fields but for my profession of nutritionist, the job market is really fluctuating. I don't know what to do. It gets really confusing at such times to make a decision.
make some informative video in job trends and hiring trend in commerce field, or trnsition from commerce to IT job, extra skills to learn for commerce candidate as per industry.
@theCorporateDiaries Thanks for response and one request to you please make video on disadvantages of abscond and if someone has done abscond from some company how we can handle when we switch to another company
The point you made about empowerment in the wrong hands these days is very prominent. Ridiculous how promotions within the mid and senior management levels are fast-tracked for some folks these days.
I understand the concern dear, but fortunately this situation is not a secret anymore, so much information is floating on news and social media, please show them all of that, so that they can get comfortable with this changing trend.. and specially news related to lay-offs etc.. 😊
I'm working now as a Senior IT analyst . Now , i have skills in cycber security so that i want switch my job into cycber role .. My question is i can cracking interviews confidently in cyber role. I'll changed my current job designation to cycber security engineer. If i cracked interview then i will submit payslip edits .. is it working or not any how it process in bgv
If you crack the interview, there is no need to fake/edit the payslips, provide the genuine ones.. its your skills that you will get hired for not what was your title on the payslip. To the max, just add few lines about the skills of cyber security in your resume and say that you were also working in cyber team as there was a project overlap. This way you will be safe, else things will get messed up in BGV... all the best!!
Yes, its perfectly okay.. you do not have to think about convincing any one.. you show the skills, prove that you are excellent in the work they are hiring for.. and they shall be automatically convinced.. so focus on perfecting the skill, everything else will fall in place.. all the best!!
