@@AliexFolgueira lucky I’ll only have the NK 300 with my set up so I don’t think I’ll have that problem where the bow dips down with all that weight of the trolling motor and battery up there. -15° here in Illinois and I got two more weeks until my kayak shows up at my paddle shop. I’m hoping these freezing temps aren’t here in the next two weeks so I can take that yak out when I get it. Can’t wait and watching this video is getting me way more excited for it to be here.
Love that set up. If you have space behind your seat try moving the TM battery back there. I had my battery up front with the same TM and it would dig. After moving it behind me I didn’t have that issue and got to 3.4 mph. It’s a different kayak so not apples to apples but it may help when you want to run both.
I am seriously considering this boat as an upgrade to my current Old Towne Angler Predator 13. Only thing is how to swap out all my curent rigging onto this new boat. I both paddle the Oldie and power it with a MinnKota 40# thrust Endura Max. I have mounted the motor on a DIY mount on my Starboard side, rear mid-ship which allows me to quitely move about the water (mount and motor are both easily removable using triangle handle knobs). I don't plan on waterskiing behind this boat nor using it for tournament fishing so Mach speed is not important to me. The MinnKota motor is mostly to get me back at the end of the day if the water or winds are contrary. This PWR 129 boat appeals to me for its stability. As a 70 year old fat guy, stability of both the boat and me is important. Did you try standing or fishing from this boat in your trials?
Aliex, thank you so much for bringing us all of the great info that you do. What is the speed difference between the NK300 and the NK180 on the same boat?
your right aliex those cables will hold a lot but they do rust internaly and one day may just break so always check ive only had one side break but i was at lowes one day and a couple guys were loading stuff in a truck with taligat down but disclaimer might have pass weight for strngth and while driving to go home those guys whole load of wood was all over the highway. but mine roughted out inside the cover over cable but thank god it was one side and i heard it pop . may have been the salt from going to the beach all the time. the older vehicles were actual metal flat bar on a lot of models all about building cheap now they could make those cables in ss would last forever
this is one reason i am considering the nucanoe ultimate. not sure if its more stable then the bonafide but it has no hatches that would lead into the interior of the kayak. hobie pa 14, this bonafide yak, native titan...if they go over you will most likely have a lot of water in your hull...that will ruin your day. you fish in florida, even in shallow waters, days like this will wreck you and i've had quite a few manatees explode under the boat...one actually flipped me. an alternative to that heavy trolling motor might be to get a light troller and then then get the controller from tiny boat nation that lets it work the same as this one...not sure about the weight difference but the i3 is kind of a monster. nice video alex, could tell it was pretty scary.
if you gonna have dual motor the nucanoe is the way to go, with the pwr129 you have to choose, bow or stern but not both, unless teh rear motor is a bixpy or the nk180pro. 1000% RECOMMEND AUTOBOAT Buy the amazing AUTOBOAT HACK here (affiliate) use code ALIEXFOLGUEIRA to save some money geni.us/JHnBN
Aliex, I would not tie off the strap to the pickup tailgate support cable (as others told you). It is very unlikely to fail as you stated, however, when you tie the strap and pull significantly it increases the tension in the ends of the cable by more than you think. Probably not an issue, but if it fails on the highway it would be awful!
I feel good about my NK300 pushing my old SP13 vs your Bonafide. I am about 205 lbs, bring my propel drive with me, and my heavily loaded SP13 is consistently doing 6.5 mph with no wind or current advantage. You definitely are getting some drag from water plowing due to the heavy weight of the Minn Kota on the extreme bow! When I first installed my 28 lb battery in my front hatch I water plowed worse than you. I had to move the battery to behind my seat. Now if this deep freeze would go away I might be able to fish again - obviously, I'm not in Miami!
@@AliexFolgueira From a engineering statics calculation, pulling a perpendicular tension to a already taut cable (tailgate cable) adds more tension to the cable than you might expect. Pickup truck cable would not break, but the sleeves that are crimped on the ends might fail first. As long as the straps are not overly tight it probably doesn't matter.
how long have you had that minn kota powerdrive? Any regrets going with this one instead of the Xi3 kayak version? I am in the market for a GPS trolling motor form my OT PDL 120 but not sure which to get as I hear good and bad between the two. Any insights from you would be great. Thanks for sharing.
so, that mk is 3 years old and it died today! again! disclaimers. It fell in the water onces and I don't think they ever fixed it right. MK has a new unit upgraded version of this I have not test it it. Now I hear good things about Xi3s you can get 3.8 plus mPH on this boat, the MK max speed i ever got was 3.5, but again I have not tested the new new one. If i were you I would probably get the xi3
Hey, just let you know that the cables that are on the tailgate will give out to rust and the bad thing is that I saw that tailgate has some rust. Just think about the cable inside plastic rusting!!??
well i picked the pwr becuase of the ss127, for me this is like part ii! if i could only have one boat, probably get the titan 12.5 instead, but i have several lol
If you could choose only one kayak between the PWR129 and the Titan X12.5 without considering the price, which would you choose as the only boat? And why ? Thank you for this video
The PWR129 is not an actual kayak. That just marketing drivel. No one in their sane mind is going to buy this and then paddle it to their fish locations. They are all going to hang a motor off it and at that point you might as well be honest with yourself and call this what it actually is. A thermoplastic mini pretend boat. LOL
After you flipped it back over the boat was leaning heavily to one side? I assume the hull was full of water. That is not good. Is that what I am seeing?
Yup, full of water, that's why I opened the video with my summary of what happened. You can unflip it like that just gotta use straps and your own body weight, I was just out of it, after the second incident, I was done.
I went past the beginning to see the flip. I will watch the beginning after work today. I was digging that kayak on till it was full of water. I have a Jackson Cuda. I have flipped and not on purpose. Very scary with gators all around. So looking for a more stable platform. The Jackson did get water in it but not much. It does have a big center hatch. But when flipped the hatch is not deep in the water. So I was able to fish the rest of the day without draining it. Thanks for the video!
Buenos días Alex! Gracias por el video. Una pregunta. Cual kayak recomiendas por bajo de $1000 y $1500? Quiero comprar uno que sea alrededor de 10’ para usarlo en ponds, lakes and rivers
Sell them, buy camera, motors, Batteries, pay for gas, food, hotel trips to film more videos . This kayak cost me $1700, that motor $1600 and broke had to buy a new one two weeks ago another $1700 gone, the cámaras you see that was about $3000, heck the breakfast and bait I bought the day I made this video costed more than what the video made in adsense lol $22
@AliexFolgueira man I definitely envy your grind brother. I have watched a ton of your videos trying to hack at which kayak to get. I'm still undecided hoping to make a choice soon.
this unit may be messed up, max speed recorded 2.9, but maybe not, max speed same unit, new on shearwarter 12.5 was 3 mph, bow digging. On the 133x, bit loger it was 3.5mph or so.. I heard the motorguide xi3 goes 3.8 plus on the pwr. THIS MK is the old one, not the new model just released.
Please dont attach to the tail gate straps , those straps are the only thing stopping the tailgate from just coming off . And with the way the straps pull on the cable if you catch a bump the wrong way you will for sure pull onne of the cables off then you pray that tail gate doesn't kill someone behind you ......thats a bad habit i dont need people starting
Please stop talking nonsense, come on, YOU SAW HOW STRONG IT IS! YOU ASLO SAW IT INST THE FIRST ONE, YOU ALSO SAW I TRIED TO PULL IT OUT MULTIPLE WAYS and it does not come off! ARE YOU GOING TO TELL ME THAT THE FABRIC CAMP STRAP ARE STRONGER THAN A 1/4 STEEL CABLE? STOP WITH THE STUPIDITY!
@@AliexFolgueira no the cable is very strong , but if a bump causes slack and enough upwards play the strap could then pull the cable off it's connection up top ..it only slips together like a button on a shirt
@devendavid9tre do me a favor go to your tailgate and try to pull the cable off, take some tolls, slam it hard, pull, do whatever then come back and tell me how strong it is
If you could choose only one kayak between the PWR129 and the Titan X12.5 without considering the price, which would you choose as the only boat? And why ? Thank you for this video
@@AliexFolgueira did you prefer the pwr to the titan x 12.5? what do you mean by reader? I agree but the titan is wider and it seems very stable and also it seems more secure. I'm really hesitant between these are 2 incredible boats, help me! :)
