I'm pretty sure your channel is gonna be among the best fishing channels on you tube in the coming years. Great content, great fish, really enjoy your stuff. Keep it up bro
"Dare I say......Bass?" That just struck me as funny, I guess because people are so touchy about them. There's flatheads and blues, EVERYTHING else is BAIT. Period! Great video man!
You're absolutely right man, I live in the Midwest of Illinois and live bait is the best for our flatheads. People tell me all the time cut bait gets it done. Not here. I use live bluegill the most. Great video. 🤙
Don't discount cutbait, especially during the day. You can put a BIG chunk of cutbait way deeper in cover. If I had to only pick one tho, live bait all the way for consistency
@@RiverCertified Here in Missouri Cut bait produces equally as well as live pre-spawn. After the spawn though, all bets are off. Noticeable decrease in the frequency of getting bit on cut bait
Hey love the vids keep up the hard work I’m from waukee iowa me and my son just started our catfishing channel and I get a lot of tips from you thanks for every tip and trick
I don’t know if I just might of figured out why they fight harder than blues for the most part(or the whole part)! If you look back at the first flat you are holding take notice to his/hers gills, they are opening very wide and at a decent rate. I’m trying to convince my self that I’ve never seen a blue open gills like that. They may take in more oxygen at a greater rate when stressed, a hook in your jaw will do that. Oh, and yes on the bait thing. Not saying I always lay to rest a bait before cutting into head and body sections but, I’ve fished(more fished than catched?) with head sections of a Green sunfish for over an hour or more and the dang things are still alive, probably due the fact that I left the essential organs in there. I need a GIANT or a least a moderate specimen! Keep it up Legend! You will be one by the way!
I have a 40 gallon cooler, with 2 aerators, in my bass boat. Keeps my bait cool and living Lively all night. If it's a super hot day or night, we throw some ice in there to keep the water slightly chilled. Yeah for sure you really need to have the air stones in there. The bigger the better!
Frfr the editor of this video is 🔥 the editor makes the funniest stuff on the screen and it makes me laugh fr so editor if you see this thanks for maken my life a little bit better👍
Your right best bait the liveliest but also I e got them on liver cut bait worms if there hungry and you get it close enought they will eat. But good fishing got some nice one out there. Thanks for sharing. God bless
Great idea! I may have to steal this idea and use it instead of my firehouse bucket! Do you think my PVC bubble filter would work as good as the air stone?
Thanks for the tips. I got one for you. Please share with everyone when I fish bullhead I take fingernail clippers and clip the sharp pins off all three horns that way he is always trying to reposition its self constant liveliness change bait ecmvery couple hours if he were out also that big flat wont spit him out when he clamps down on the bulkhead and only feels softness truer words were never spoken about lively is the best flathead bait if you bait air working hard you have to change it
Wow I've been watching a few of your video's your an awesome fisherman I'm in Iowa have been for a while now I've been going after the flat head I've caught a variety of channel cat's but now don't have lots of time to fish like I used to
You mentioned Iowa. Are you fishing Iowa here? I live up by Dewitt. How big are these bullheads your using? I am just getting back into fishing due to a several years long illness. Walking is rough with all my gear but it is worth the pain and effort. Now you come along and give me something else to shoot for. The question I almost forgot...can you buy bullheads in Iowa and use them for bait? I know of a couple ponds where there are a lot of bullheads but it is too hard on my back and hip to walk the quarter mile around to where the bullheads are. Maybe one of these early mornings I will start and get there by late afternoon. I will rest and fish my way around the pond. If they're big enough I will eat them myself. OH, I think I will subscribe. I like your presentation and want to see more. Thanks. Great video.
What rig was your friend using? I was trying to make it out but I couldn’t lol. I use santee rigs with and without floats but I’m always looking for rigs to try. Thanks in advance, nice fish and tight lines.
I found even that when I’m fishing big bluegills I catch the smaller fish because they are so lively but the smaller ones don’t work as well because they seem to die a little quicker
Question. I use a Santee cooper rig with live bait at night mainly. And have a problem that happens a lot. My bait gets itself and my rig all tangled up any tips?
Bro why are you giving away all the secrets we catfishermen have known for years?!!! 😂 Haha jk good video and tight lines! Btw here in central NC the flatheads have already destroyed all the bullheads in the rivers here. Better luck with netting carp and shad.(so long as the shad are kept live and used fast) hope this comment helps others in my area! 50# flat daddy club here. Nice video!
Idk about the cut bait vs live bait. I'm in central Indiana and every flathead I've caught was on cut bait. Not much messes with the bigger live baits around here.
Just picked up some Better-Bait after watching this vid (great vid btw), question; how much Better-Bait do you use for your Cooler bait tank? Thanks in advance.
River Certified appreciate the quick response sir. Keep up the good work. Also, I haven’t found a complete rod and reel tackle review of your equipment. Or I may be blind. Lol
What do you use as your anchor setup so the fish don't pull you around? Also have you noticed a difference in hookup ratio hooking your bait in specific spots rather than others? I been missing quite a few fish lately and I think it's where I'm hooking them and the cat is just not taking my hook in it's mouth.
I just tie off to brush. Everyone has a different hook setting style, so I suggest try different spots to see if they make a difference. I hook em in the tale.
I have a question for u .I been fishing a small creek that feeds into a bigger River the Susquehanna River.i now has to be a big fish in there .all I end up get are middle to small channel catfish.i went to get a big flathead i have got one small flathead what do u think I should do. To help me get a big flathead should I use more live bait and just wait it out or should I move to a different sport. And when it come to death of the water is 8 feet to shallow to try to Target big fish .
I'm heading up to Pikes Peak this weekend. We'll be spending the day in Lansing. I'll try to find some bank to fish from for a while as my wife wanders Horsefall's.
rat4spd me and my cousin are going Friday night and Saturday also, around Lansing. We might check where yellow river meets Mississippi right by effigy mounds. Under the 2 bridges. You will drive right passed it going from pikes peak to Lansing.
To be honest we have only kept 3 fish in 5 years. However, we give a lot away to one's who are fishing for food. I hate throwing back fish knowing it means something more than sport to others. Hence the 30 and 20lb mark.
Morals and ethics based on personal experience man. I believe as long as you're making an educated decision that lends to the objective you hope to see in your fishery (trophy fishery vs eater fishery) that's all that really matters. I want to see bigger fish, so I let the big ones go because they have the best odds of getting bigger. That's what I hope to see tho. You do what makes you happy.
My state doesn't allow the use of any sort of live fish for bait. Can't even use live crawdads unless you trap them in that body of water you're using them in...
live brim hooked behind the eyes and not thru the brain is the best bait!!! and the brighter color ones that is. i catch 40 pounders alot on them all the time. its nature eatting nature its in there nature to eat brim .
Hahahahah the bass joke had me cracking up big time, those bass guys really do treat bass like royalty, they are just pan fish I don't see what the big deal is. They arent the best fighters, they aren't rare, hard to find, or predict. They aren't elusive! There's no shortage! You can find trophy bass in any retention pond in the country! But yet they eat all kinds of fish and won't eat a bass. Haha the arc of the covenant the large mouth bass
All these rigs will work with bullheads just fine. Would probably go with a 10/0 hook though. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YdGwO0XUSog.html
I have never caught one believe it or not,the local lakes here had them way back in the '90s when i was JLT "jarrell little time" and i didnt know how to fish for them,so hopefully next week when i make that trip to a out of town lake i can get hooked up on one (hopefully more) 😂👊
Yes and no. Electroception is awareness of the electrical field surrounding aquatic organisms caused by electrical impulses produced from muscle contractions. They sense movement of baitfish using their lateral line.
