THIS is what I'm here for. The design process, sheet metal bodywork, etc. I don't mind the ramp truck videos type videeos, but this is why I'm here.

So glad Elio saw the angle of that rear brace! I was trying to tell you through the video that you needed to pick up that angle, lol. Panels look great and “gentlemanly.” Thanks Karl.

Just an observation: If you were to have a small piece of steel mounted at the end of the frame above the roller axle bearing collar you could put a magnetic back dial indicator above the bearing. Once zeroed, this would give you a method to reproduce exact depth on the rollers and would be easily repeatable for consistent results. Just sayin........

The way you explain everything is second to none Carl. Love these videos. One suggestion though. When you roll the pleats, take multiple passes and you can limit that curling/warping of the panel. Go about a 3/4 turn from touch down at first, then a little more and a little more until satisfied. You can really limit the warping by just slowly introducing the stretch. I do beadroll art and this one thing keeps all my panels almost perfectly flat even when I introduce the stretch in the center of the panel only.

Another great video. I bought a bead roller (Eastwood) because of your work. I'm restoring a antique semi truck and have to make some side panels that you can't find. This is why I watch what you do.

SO if you cut arcs inside then you can have three different sizes on one gauge. Space the cut-outs 1/2 inch apart. You could also produce a set of different geometric shapes, or how a bout a set of large French curves. They would be so useful

@MakeItKustom

I’m no so sure. I definitely like having a consistent speed. Then it’s just steering. If it’s speed and steering I dunno. It would actually be awesome to have two pedals. One slow one fast and both adjustable

You could make that tool with additional available radiuses or fewer pieces if you cut an internal arch inside. The outer radius could be 2 inches than the internal radius could be a quarter of an inch smaller and you could even have an additional offset that’s a quarter inch smaller yet.or some thing. This would be easier if I could draw a picture :-)

I picked up a couple of cheap replacement floor pans for my 1958 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite restoration. (video about them coming out next monday evening.) It looks like they were done with a bead roller and for some reason have what looks like spot welder burn marks on them. They are also warped out of shape. My problem is "How do I know what needs to be shrunk and what needs to be stretched to get these pans to lay flat. I don't want to try welding them in as badly distorted as they are.

23:00 if you book matched the door panels for the seat it would match the dash, then you can have a kind of divider between the two thats like a brass accent kind of like in the dash, even if its a straight 1/2" thick piece of brass
