I wanted a warm white, so like many I went through Swiss Coffee, Cloud White, and finally White Dove, and for this colour it was mere curiosity because it's so popular. I went with WD. I walked in as the team were painting the primer, and I loved how bright the primer was. When WD went on I was disappointed with how unbright it was. So, James, I get you when you referenced WD's lack of brightness. I wasn't crazy about the green undertone either. I started loving it. I did some more styling, changed my decor, and recently I am enjoying when the sun shines on it in the morning. the creamy undertone is beautiful. In the afternoon it cools down and it still looks good. At first, I was upset with it, and my friends and condo mates came in and asked, 'what don't you like about it? It's gorgeous, it's fine, it goes with everything.' And that's my story about White Dove. In future I will go brighter though.
I used White Dove at your recommendation, and the sales associate told me I'd love it when i bought a sample. I do love it, such a great wall color. Thanks
The reason I like your show is that you go into nuanced colour. I like colours that look different in different light. I had a bright white paint on my walls and it looked like primer and unfinished. Walls that scream. Paint me.
Wow, loving your descriptions of the whites. Picking the right white is tough. I chose simply white in my last place, it worked for the space (scandi minimal) but was surprisingly stark. May circle back to cloud for my new place.
I used Mascarpone (AF-20) to link a few other colours from the historical collection and I love it, it’s the perfect rich cream if like me you can’t live with harsh white
Simply White trim looks very nice with Revere Pewter in our bathrooms. Exterior is White Dove with black 2132-10 shutters, really like that. Navajo White is a good one in north facing rooms, just a bit more creamy. We have friends who used NW on trims, cabinets and walls and it works.
I've used Chantilly Lace on all the wood work on my jobs but I've just switched to super white to give it s try. I painted a spare door and split it in half, then painted each colour side by side. Quite a noticeable difference between the two...
@@nikitaolafareabiwon7678 I've not started the job where the super white is going to be used yet. The difference by looking at the two together is the Chantilly Lace is a warm tone and super white is definitely a cool tone. It looks grey/blue next to Chantilly. But put super white on it's own and it doesn't look that "in your face" blue/grey. Looking forward to using it.
glacier white, moonlight white, snowfall white. this the perfect trifecta for different uses and waaaaay more interesting and with complex colours balance than the whites listed here. I"m considering Steam for ceilings though.
Hi, will you please make a video that explains what to do if you paint over oil based paint with latex paint. And any other paint mistakes. I enjoy your channel. Thanks
Hey there, love the video. Wondering if you’ve had a chance to try out BM Vapor, and if so, what did you think about in comparison to Steam? Thanks again!
I’m using Dove Wing for trim as I don’t like bright whites… pale oak walls and ceiling for a bedroom perhaps muslin in the hallway with lots of doors and trim in d.w….
Thanks for your video! I’m thinking about painting all of my walls in my cabin Dove Wing. It wasn’t mentioned here. Do you recommend this for walls? What would be a good paint color for the baseboards and interior doors? I have light medium wood trim around all of my interior windows. My floors are on the dark side. Thanks!
I’m a big fan of Mayonnaise OC-85. Downside is the name itself and the fact that the guys at Ace can never spell it properly to find it in their system.
A lot of people use white dove on trim and baseboards too, letting the difference in sheen differentiate (you can probably find pics online). Simply white is also a beautiful trim color with WD. I’ve seen some designers go with Chantilly lace which gives you the most contrast since it’s a clean white. Just a few ideas for you until James has a chance to respond ;)
