Most visitors to Mackinac Island either bring their bicycles or rent one from many of the rental companies. Once on their bike, tourists typically ride the perimeter of the Island on Michigan's only state highway without motorized vehicles, M-185. While that route is fun, it does not take you to many of Mackinac's top attractions.
This video will help guide your bike ride through the interior of Mackinac Island. The interior is where many of Mackinac Island's top tourist sights are located.
I begin the video by walking my bike up Fort Street. Fort Street is the best way to get into the interior of the Island. Whatever you do, do not enter the interior from British Landing as you will end up riding your bike uphill for 1.5 miles. Once in the interior, I will show you how to visit the Michigan Governor's Summer Residence, Fort Mackinac, The Somewhere in Time Gazebo, Arch Rock, Skull Cave, St. Anne's Cemetery, the Mackinac Island Cemetery, the Post Cemetery, Fort Holmes, Point Lookout, the Sugar Loaf, Great Turtle Park, Harrisonville, and Mackinac Island Airport.
Then, I will show you how to exit the interior of Mackinac Island by riding 1.5 miles downhill to British Landing. Once at British Landing, it is a 2.5 mile ride back to the Fort Street bike rack.
