It doesn’t. It’s incredibly solid. Toyota can make rock solid cars. Even my Lexus (technical a luxury Toyota), is solid as ever. Toyota motor corporation is amazing at making good solid vehicles.
Agreed! However the check engine light came on it needs a new oxygen sensor. That’s not bad all sensors will need to be replaced , so it’s an easy fix. It can still be driven but it needs a new sensor in order to clear the engine light and pass the smog check when it is due.
I love my 96, it was a fwd 5 speed and I loved it so much I found myself a 97 awd 5 speed. Great little cars, easy to work on and its a taller camry or corolla, also basically a baby 4 runner with its off road capabilities
Right on! I love this little rav4. My car isn’t this car but a 2008 Lexus IS250. The Lexus might be way smoother, but the bumpiness of this old little car makes it fun.
When I visit my parents , this is the car I use. I don’t even ask to borrow my mom’s Lexus ES350. The RAV4 is my go to vehicle when I’m in the Bay Area.
dont listen to the haters, i own one od these in Australia and its an absolute weapon, they are fun as hell to drive really feels like you are driving rather than just getting from A-B and they can go bush pretty competently as well
I bought my 1st car in 76 and got a 5 speed Celica.. the odometer broke at around 270 miles but i drove the hell out of it. I agree that manual driving is the only way to go!!
Yep it’s my dads little extra car. He loves the durability and decided to keep it. My parents use it for local driving like going to the supermarket and running errands.

6:09 the CD was optional and was installed below the cassette player, at the slot where you have the covid masks. It was then controlled by the CD button on the cassette player.
Cool, I figured that empty void looked a little strange. Now I know a cd player would be there if the car came with it. Good to know, learned something new.
@@tbenson354 when I’m driving it at 80, even at the fifth gear as this is a manual transmission, I do not notice the engine struggling, or I don’t notice it being louder than normal. The RPM isn’t very high and it runs pretty well. So no issues on my end.
Yeah it’s a good car. My 2008 Lexus IS250 is solid too but as a luxury car it’s a pain when something needs repair as it’s expensive. So if possible I just drive my daily driver a 2015 Corolla instead.
These cars are so cool! And that’s from someone like me who owns a sporty rear wheel drive Lexus IS250. I just love these smaller SUVs from this time. It’s like halfway between an SUV and a car. You get the best of both worlds.
