I think a shelf above the litter box to hold cat litter, litter bags and the litter scoop would work. Maybe even keep extra cat food cans and cat related supplies stored up there. I use a beautiful turkish inspired large salad bowl as a water bowl for my pets. My dogs have matching small salad bowls and the cats share a small matching salad plate. They are plastic and easy to clean. Gorgeous pop of color to please the eyes.
Love this idea, HOWEVER, a folding gate to separate a kitten is NOT a good idea and can actually be very dangerous! I fostered 3 kittens and one of them jumped up on a folding gate, it fell on her, and we ended up at the vet. Worst part is that I wasn't even using the gate for the kittens. When they came to stay with me the gate was folded up in the room that I was going to use for them, so I put it by the door (to remove it from the room) and left for 3 seconds to fill their water bowl. Unfortunately, the exact situation that I was trying to avoid took place! (the kitten ended up being fine, thank heavens!)😿
.... cats do not like to feel trapped.... oke... cat whisperer. Guess we'll need to tell that to every cat that has ever tried to squeeze itself into the tiniest spaces possible Also, you can just mount it to the wall.. what is the problem?
I built a much smaller one from Ikea similar to this. Cats prefer it to the open ones. Many cats live tight and dark places. A kid around any cat litter can be a disaster.
Kids should be taught to respect animals (and their space, such as litter box), so anyone that has a kid that would trap a cat in a cabinet should NOT own a cat. Period.
