You should've tamed the spino in the early episodes. I am in the same area where you started and 7 arrows knocked out the lvl 4 which sounds bad, but they quickly level up and it is so much help and easier than a rex as I recently started.

Took me about 150 arrows to nock out 2 allos and the 140 only tamed out to 188 still decent tho

I kinda ended up with a lot of rexes in my single-player game, mostly low level (I, uh, kinda left wandering on for a while). On the plus side, I get tons of extra large eggs!

I build plot under a large tree on sloping ground - the branches cover the plot - and the water container is in the leaves - you can’t see it when standing next to it - under a big tree I can hide all 4 veggies.
