I go in more depths about the shapes (A-line vs Cupcake for which dresses) in this video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YGCmxeg3s_s.html And in this video I compare TaoBao vs TaoBao resellers to by the Aurora and Ariel rainbow petticoat: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-at0hlJbZg-g.html
Thank you for this amazing review and all your hard work !!! Petti are so hard to choose , even more when you're plus size because there's nothing more inconvenient than a waistband that's killing you all day long :D ! The same kind of review about bloomers would be awesome :D
Oh my goodness girl this video is gold and every new lolita needs to watch it. I can't believe how many amazing things you do for our community. Thank you for both for putting in the hard work of comparing all these petticoats. 🌟
Oh I also forgot. I just received a new hoop petti from clobba. It is the Sentaro Frost Sugar Fishbone. I can send you pictures and information on how it fits if you want to add it to the list. It is a bit pricier but is custom sizable and has a lot of nice features for plus size lolitas in a hot climate.
Thank you so much for acknowledging my work! And thank you for suggesting the Sentaro Frost Sugar Fishbone. I added it to the list and I'll see if I want to order it for myself in the next round.
I'm impressed. There was a lot of work and effort put into this video! Buying a petticoat is always a struggle and this video will help so many people! Great job!
Really interesting video, thanks for making it! I was surprised by the MeLikesTea review as I have two of their Rose voile pettis and I really like them, and found them very friendly to deal with. Beautifully made and comfortable, and they fit my specified waist size nicely (which is larger than yours) so I don't need to use the drawstring. I also have a Black Ribbon Otome petticoat - it too is very well made but I find it uncomfortable to sit in as the hem ruffles dig into my legs when sitting in a chair so I rarely wear it.
Thank you so much! I've been recommended MLT so many times but seeing the way the waistband is situated and how the construction started to unravel is making me change my mind quickly. You're amazing!
I have a specific review about MLT here. Is the Poof Monster from Me Likes Tea the Poofiest Petticoat ever? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kOqLx6dcbno.html I am happy the video was useful for you.
This is amazing and so thorough!! I have the last Aurora and Ariel Petticoat but now I'm tempted t get the Rainbow one as well, hahaha! Thank you for this!
If you are adjusting the boning on the hoopskirt, i reccomend using tape instead of the clear tubing. It's quicker and less dangerous. If you ever want to adjust it, you can always keep a small roll of tape in your purse just in case.
I wished this video was up before I bought my petticoats, fortunately, I think I did good purchases but this video would have saved so much research time xD Thank you so much!!!
This is so helpful! And I'm amazed by the crazy amount of work and money you put in this video! Thank you so much for this mega petticoat comparison 😍💜
This video is going to be passed around in the community for years to come, thank you so much! It's amazing how informative this is. Also yaaay, Aurora and Ariel is the new petticoat mvp!
thank you making this video! it's a wonderful resource for the community. i will definitely recommend it to anyone searching for the perfect petticoat for themself!!
I'm in love with that AP JSK! Thank you for the wide range reviews. I have a Diamond Honey petticoat a friend gave me. But the waist is too tight so I've been debating on buying a new one or sewing in a new elastic to fit. This is helping me decide if it's worth time or money in a new one. Thank you!!
I was so excited the rainbow A&A ranked so well! It's definitely the best petti I've ever owned so I'm glad it ranks well against competitors! (PS to people thinking about buying it, the half rainbow color is just as cute, I actually like it more than the full personally)
@@FluffyKawaiiJo I think the rainbow color ends up more pastel because of the white in the middle, which I like, and the colors are less muddled by rainbow layers underneath.
This is such a useful video I’m a new Lolita who has had interest in this fashion for a LONG time and finally have the ability to set aside funds for it (I ordered an OP and everything [for a first dive to get a casual feel and used to it]) but I know sooner I’m gonna need a petticoat and some blouses before I get a jsks and I’ve been just WONDERING what petticoat to even get this video is so informative and perfectly timed!! Thanks so much for your work ^^ literal perfect timing (I’m waiting for that op in the mail hehe)
I love love love this video. Makes me feel very happy about my Aurora and Ariel black petticoat I have. Their stuff is so puffy and so affordable, it is insane.
This was an awesome video. I learned that I've owned the Malco Mode Jennifer for a little over 4 years... how had I not known it was adjustable until now?!?
Haha, better find out late than never! When I was buying mine, I knew it was adjustable in length, but the button elastic took me by surprise. Since then I've seen one indie rockabilly skirt maker use that, it's such a neat feature! Though since buying mine almost 4 years ago I haven't actually needed to adjust the elastic yet, it's holding out very well.
I have a wunderwelt petticoat and it has amazing volume even after being stuffed in a box for like three months lol but the waist is a bit big on me :( and doesn’t seem to be adjustable. I’m wanted to invest in a melikestea petti but need something a bit cheaper in the meantime just so I can dress up and not feel uncomfortable with my petticoat slipping around😭
This was so helpful!! I was so excited for this video, because I'm actually in need of a new petticoat, and I was unsure between me likes tea one and Aurora and Ariel one.
So glad I found your channel!! This is such a helpful video and I'm excited to check out more of your content. :)) And out of curiosity, where did you happen to get that satin/silk tote at 5:28? I'd love to get one just like it to store my petti.
I am glad it helps! I have so many videos. I hope you will find them helpful and entertaining too. This tote bag was a gift bag at an event. I think Träumerei in Germany in 2019.
14:53 The second channel for an alternative elastic height in the retro/vintage petticoat is such a simple but ingenious idea! 20:24 And I just love the look of the rainbow Aurora & Ariel one. It's amazing. (Does it matter that the bottom edges of it aren't finished?)
I have several me likes tea petticoats and love them all, I always order them with a smaller waist than my own (about 10-15 cm less), that way they always fit great and I don't have to use the ribbon drawstring.
@@FluffyKawaiiJo Definitely, they should. I talked to the owner of melikestea after my petticoat arrived, we had talked a bit beforehand and she asked for feedback about the fit, since they where thinking about changing the type of elastic they use for the waistband, and my feedback was that I had heard that the elastic waistband tended to be to loose and I therefore ordered it 10 cm less than my waist, and she was glad for the feedback, she even gave me a discount code for my next purchase for giving her detailed feedback :)
Thank you so much for this! I recently ordered a petticoat with my exact measurements and I was so worried it would be too big. I hope they see my email before it's too late
I have only one petticoat and it’s black. I was gonna buy myself a red one, and even short, long etc. just like the Victorians, and the 50’s vibes for girls and women wearing petticoats for special occasions. I choose petticoats that are Victorian, 50’s, and Lolita fashion. And wearing a petticoat on the summer, I had a feeling I might sweat inside and I get itchy everywhere. I just wish petticoats don’t irritate me, just comfy and relaxing.
I have an aurora and ariel 45 cm a-line petticoat!!! It's very nice, but since the fabric contains some organza, does that mean I need to store it inside out and hanging???? omfg lmao. i've found petticoat storage reports to be quite... inconsistent, it was helpful to hear that it has more to do with the fabric, though! thank you for all the reviews, Jo! ^^ i'll keep this in mind if/when I need a new petti!
I am an extreme pear shaped women (50cm difference between waist and hip measurements) with a prefrence for minimal poof. I AM the petticoat 😂 I'll wear a small petticoat if I need an a line shape because legs don't work that way unless I am doing jumping jacks haha.
This is such a good video! I have classical puppets cupcake custom size petticoat from back in the day when their petticoats where better, don´t know what happened but their petticoats haven´t been the same for years now. I also own the first three tiered bodyline one, but I use it for other alt fashions. I have been eyeing bunny house petticoats, they have many poof levels and custom sizing and me likes tea petticoats, and I would have recommended to contact the me likes tea customer service since yours was too big and you gave them the right measurement, if they would have corrected the issue
That's a very informative video! Thank you for the time (and money) you spent doing it! I have a Hell Bunny petticoat (rockabilly brand) that I am thinking to alter to make it shorter. I think I'll do something similar to the Jennifer petticoat from Malco modes, to still be able to wear it with my rockabilly dress. I recently purchased a hoop skirt from Amazon (Noriviiq Womens White 3 Hoop Petticoat Skirt Underskirt Lace Lolita Dress Crinoline Adjustable). This one is extremely poofy!!!! I actually have to reduce a lot the size of the hoops (I'm mainly wearing classic lolita). There is no chance that the dress gets stucks between the hoops because there is fabric between the hoops, and on top of that there are ruffles (2 layers for each ruffle, one is a kind of organza and on top it's more like voile with lace trim). The ruffles add enough fabric to make the hoops completely invisible through the dress, even when you walk/dance
Cette vidéo est très bien faite, ça se voit que tu as passé beaucoup de temps dessus, bravo !! J'ai le jupon ajustable de tulutulu et un classical puppet et et les mets l'un sur l'autre quand je veux un maximum de volume
I got the Aurora and Ariel rainbow one custom sized and 16m from Taobao a few months ago and it came as the 2-tier one like on the listing, maybe you were unlucky and they messed up your order? :( I really like it, it's my go-to petti for sweet dresses! It does peek a little bit for shorter AP dresses like Milky-chan.
Interesting. Thank you so much for letting me know. I will look more into that. The issue is that I didn't find a way to pick A-line or cupcake (or 2 and 3 tiers). So I don't really know how to know which one to get.
@@FluffyKawaiiJo The only difference I see between our orders is that I chose the 16m one, while you selected the catwalk 20m one, maybe the catwalk type is a A-line type? The 3-tier one is not even shown in the listing images though so it's still pretty weird that they would offer it so subtly. Maybe you could ask your shopping service to verify with the seller just to be sure? Also edit: I just checked the reviews on Taobao and the photos are all from people who selected 16m, so I'm really beginning to think that the 20m one is different, though the listing says absolutely nothing about that.
that's the thing. The photo on the rainbow listing has two tiers so it should make a more cupcake shape. But I bought that one and it ended up coming with 3 tiers like the white one that is A-line. so I don't know if it was an older design or what it is. I will research that into more details.
I starch my Classical Puppets after every wash. Granted, I don't do it excessively, that would be uncomfortable to wear, but while it helps a little, it's more of a 'regular maintenance' kind of help than a permanent solution or an emergency intervention. Starching a lolita petticoat gives it a bit of a lift, but it's not a significant boost to begin with. If I showed you mine before and after starching, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I myself only know because I wear that thing regularly to have a comparison of how it otherwise feels like. Moreover, it's not a boost that lasts long, starch wears out fairly quickly, and different fabrics react differently to being starched. If you want to give your petticoat a one-off super boost because you really need a bit more poof and you're in a pinch, sure, go for it and starch it to the gods. But if you feel like you have to starch your petticoat that often because otherwise it's flat, then that's a sign that you need a better petticoat more than anything.
Hi! Where is the best shopping service to buy off of taobao to get the Aurora and Ariel Petticoat? I loved this video and it was a big help. Thank you!
Thank you! I am working on a follow up video where I compare TaoBao resellers and buying directly from TaoBao. My shopping service is SuperBuy and I am very happy with it. If you want to try it, you can register with my link in the description and I will earn a small commission when you use it that will help support my channel.
