I have the original Masterdesk, which I thought was awesome when I started out mastering. Now I have specific plugins, as you say, to do specific jobs. It's great, in my opinion, for people starting out mastering or want to master their own tunes. No substitute for experience and knowing what to use and how to use the right tool for the job though.

Guys, your videos’ production quality is BBC level polished. I could listen to you two bang on about plug-ins all day. It’s not shit, the BX, but I do have the Limiter, and barely use it. Like you, I too would use multiple tools on the mastering bus. But if you’re just starting out, not bad at all.

I have the original and could not really find a use for it. I prefer to use different plugins myself(got mine for free). I think it really is a good fit for Home recording musicians who dont want to spend too much time learning to Mix or Master. I find that each function I would class as useful but limited, I am 100% with Sean on this one

I want to have the feeling of slapping 8 plugins on the Master bus , selecting random presets and then exporting without dither….I’m really working class

I've tried quite a few mastering plugins, of all the ones I have (too fkn many) for the artist I have to say Ozone does it all. For me who likes to master more I add in the Fabfilter, a few of Softubes plugins and I can get where I want to be. I'd love for you guys to show some work you've done, just so we understand your approach and opinions -if ive missed something let me know.

I paid $29.99 for this plugin and for that price, it is great for what it does. It's good if you want a quick mastering job (not final) on a rough mix to hand someone. That said, I prefer to use separate plugins/hardware for most things and am not usually a fan of "all in ones".

At 29.99 it's worth it for the limiter and stereo width tools it has in it. Assuming you dont have good tools for those already.

what a comment of a guy that bases value on features on a "sale " price....your real cost is all the 200 plugins they made you buy to get to that 50 dollar coupon. Your real cost is 150 for this, reality check ;)!

@@levondarratt787 First, my response was to the statement of the current price at the time the video was made. Any software that eventually reduces to a $30 price tag months later was never worth the price of $100+. Since almost every Plugin Alliance plugin can eventually be purchased at around the $30 mark, that is the market value of the plugins. Same goes for high priced VSTs that go only sale once or twice a year. Now, as for usefulness, that is something entirely different. I have some expensive plugins that I rely on for almost every mix. Were they worth the cost? Absolutely. I also have some really cheap plugins that have the same value to me since I depend on them.

I actually like this plugin, mind you, I only paid $25.00 for it on sale. Definitely worth $25.00. (BX had a 2 plugin bundle for $49.00 during April, 2024)

That's a good point....hardware and software probably close to 12k....🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️if it was all in the box...and bought during sales probably 300 🤷‍♂️👍

Innit Too much going on in this one. Having progressed through the Masterdesks, Classic(Freebie), ‘Regular’ and True Peak; I don’t see the need, If I were New to PA I reckon I’d still look elsewhere among their product range. And that Dull GUI which just about works for Sculpt and True Peak Limiter just looks extra dull with this ’Pro’ version. And pricing … Well it’s PA isn’t it. That’ll be discounted sooner than later. 🙄

For Mastering? Changes from track to track....but often includes SPL PQ, DSeq, Pulsar8200, Gainlab Dictator, SSL G bus comp, Drawmer 1974, PSP Xenon and Fab filter L2. 👍

As you become more knowledgeable, you will gradually use less components of the plugin, replacing them with individual plugins. Ideally, you outgrow it.
