It amazes me how you're able to put out concise, well-spoken guide videos. I was actually getting frustrated looking up ways to make an elevator last night. This is just the video I needed. Fantastic.
Yeah same, I was thinking can you make an elevator in Minecraft so googled it and just rubbish bad videos, then browsing thru this channel and saw this vid, several ideas, simply explained.
I love how frequently you come out with in depth, well though out well made videos. It’s honestly incredibly impressive you balance quality and quantity so well!
The video I always needed, but didn't even know how much I wanted it! One could theme an entire base around these different elevator designs. Thanks for teaching us such a wonderful variety!
The honey block bubblevator is my fav because of it's speed, simplicity, and ability to be waterless. The only thing it is missing is a floor selector panel. I am currently theorizing how you could hit a button to make a trapdoor or piston come out and stop you on your desired floor.
I haven’t used redstone in a while, so my knowledge is rusty - but wouldn’t it be possible to have a piston just sticking out on the desired floor, blocking the elevators path? An activated piston can’t be moved, right?
@@Eyecraftmc no joke, I have a world with my friend and we haven't built a proper house yet, we just have like a complex of redstone stuff and I'm starting to build a theme park. I literally did to him ", when we build the house ill add in a few redstone elevators" BTW eyecraft on your auto item sorter, when the chests get full the whole system breaks. is there any way to fix that? I've added levers that turn off the auto farms but is there any way to just have the items flow over the hoppers?
If you don't know already, I suggest to use glass panes for the bubble elevator cause you can go through it for the elevator, and it's asthetically pleasing to the eyes.
The one redstone build I need but haven’t attempted yet.. thank you for this! It will make a great addition to my multi level storage building!! Great in depth explanation of everything as always 👍👍
Hi eyecraftmc, could you please make a guide on the F3 functions. It would be super helpful for me since I really understand most of the Minecraft things only if you make a tutorial. (I actually need to locate a nether fortress using the pie chart in F3 screen because I keep on dying in the nether if I stay there for too long)
I definitely gotta try this one. Gonna say, I appreciate that you are explaining this very clearly and actually doing it on **Survival**. That makes figuring out how to build it more easy, thanks.
Haven't started the video yet but super excited about this one! I've got a massive build in creative that fills a hollow mountain of sorts.. I've completely done one full level and worked on some others, but I haven't even made stairs to connect them yet because I had no idea how I wanted to lay it out and I'd much rather use an elevator. Too bad I didn't know how.. yet lol Thanks early because I already know I'll be using this videos advice pretty soon.
Does the easy elevator work on bedrock? I tried it and it isn’t working right. I ended up using the pretty easy and useful trapdoor method, but I might want to use this method later. Is there another way to do it in bedrock edition?
You upload consistently with high quality minecraft tutorials. I have used a lot of your designs to make my base. I have watched almost all of your tutorials
Another elevator is the single column alternating bubble elevator. Make a ring of glass panes (8 panes around a hole.) Under the hole put two pistons facing each other two three away from each other. In front of one put soul sand, in front of the other put a magma block. Run a redstone current to the piston with the soul sand for buttons to set the elevator to "up" and a current to the magma piston for "down." Use the glass panes to make your elevator shaft. Remove two panes at a corner of the shaft to make a door as the panes either side of the water column will still contain the water source block, yet by removing the corner pane the two closest to it shrink on that side; giving you a perfectly sized entry and exit from your bubble stream.
this is fantastic. I genuinely love your content Eyecraftmc. You make builds so understandable because of the survival setting. It allows you to literally go step by step in the process. gladly subbed now. Ill be back for more.
Weeping vines are actually useful for going down especially if you are in a high location with no way down and need to build from the top down. I was in the nether looking for a crimson forest while tunneling through a cave, I found a big hole in a dead end room with a crimson forest directly below, however it was a straight drop with no chance of surviving fall damage. Luckily the cave spawned with weeping vines so i only needed some bonemeal to make a rope safely to the bottom so i could grab what i needed. Its definately good for emergency escapes should you get trapped on a high ledge, or maybe its above water and its easier to have a vine hanging under a structure than having to build from the sea floor up to the surface. It's generally a good way to climb or stay under a structure with no solid floor below it,
I just cannot build the final contraption. Double-checked the instructions, it was 1:1 with the video. when I press the button, flying machine starts going up and down before separating in two parts. After this it becomes unusable
Bedrock edition? In Bedrock, the flying machines are harder to make. They need to be made a little bit bigger because these compact designs don't work on bedrock. If you want to make them, watch tomcotwo's video. He showed 2 flying machines. They are not the the only possible designs but 2 of the few that works
I tried to build the last elevator on bedrock edition, but it didn't work (when you click to climb, it goes up a little then goes down again). Could you provide a working version for bedrock, please?
Slime machines can work on bedrock edition, but it can't go forwards and backwards. this is because sticky pistons on bedrock edition can't spit out their blocks which is what alot of flying machines needs. Sry
@@inspectorgoaty4693 yeah this comment was a long time ago, nowadays there are a lot of flying machines working on bedrock, mostly to be used in farms like sugar cane and bamboo. But thanks anyway for the update!
These videos are definitely more informative than the other guys! I wonder how well this will work in creative. I will try my hand at making one myself
Love the videos! Got a great desert and badland seed and wondering if I should bother playing it. Do you anticipate 1.2 updating any of these biomes other than the camel?
Weeping and Cave Vines have the benefit of growing down. If ever I want to get down from a cliff to explore an area in the Nether and I don't have a lot of resources on me, I'll set up an overhang for it to grow down so I can get up and down. Recently, Vines that grow in the overworld can now be climbed even if there isn't a block behind it. It makes them much more effective.
Weeping- and glowberry vines can be very useful if you want to descend from a high place. It's the most reliable method imho to build "down" - for instance, you can bonemeal and go down one, hold shift, place a block (which will end up behind you because lol minecraft) and create a little platform in the void this way, allowing you to build bases on the bottom of End islands, and of course that is a thing that you would want to do because it is rad AF.
I’ve found that usually if they don’t say, it’s Java (ofc not always, just more likely). I found bedrock people tend to specify. I also agree it can be pretty annoying when not mentioned, especially when it actually affects the build (I remember one farm that depended on villagers not crossing rails, which is the case in Java but not bedrock). I believe all of the stuff mentioned in this vid are for both versions. On a separate note, this channel usually is on Java and they’ll specify when it’s bedrock.
Most RU-vidrs play Java. And nearly every technical Minecraft player is on Java. Bedrock tends to be younger players or people playing on consoles and both of those groups tend to not make complex redstone contraptions.
@@UslessSpy flying machines requires a slightly differ design in bedrock. You can take most of this video and then look at some videos comparing the designs of flying machines between bedrock and Java to see how to convert it. Roughly bedrock requires additional parts for bidirectionally, In Java sticky pistons can be unstuck if you update them fast enough, in bedrock they are hard coded to never do this.
Thank you for this tutorial. I built it on my test world and plan to put elevators on my live server soon! I'm wondering if it's possible to build a 1x2 or even a 2x2 elevator car? And doors for the shaft on each floor would be a nice safety feature, too!
Were you able to make it? I want something like this if possible, but I read server can desync from players. The normal fix seems to be to use a different entity but if I put a minecart on it I take suffocation damage going down :/
@@searchingforgryphons Sort'a, yes, I was able to make a 1x1 elevator work on my test server at 1.20.2 (I can't upgrade to MC 1.21 because I can't upgrade to Java 21 for some reason, grrr). I can ride it up and down no problem! The larger one, I couldn't get the whole elevator to move as one unit. I even got doors to work automatically on the top and bottom landing levels. But I still haven't built it on my live server yet. Look for videos by Blag, EyecraftMC, DaftAsBrush, and Mumbo Jumbo. I'll credit all 4 for inspiration when I built it on my live world.
@@searchingforgryphons My reply to you got deleted for some reason, so I'm glad you saw it! (I don't know why. I didn't use any bad words, or post any links, or criticize communism, or advocate freedom, or anything naughty like that)
A pretty cool way to get really high really fast is to build a tnt launcher then set your spawn next to it, trigger the tnt then die and use the 3 seconds of spawn invincibility to get launched without dying. With this metod you can use as much tnt as you want and get really high without worring about needing blast protection or resistance
Wow that's so easy! I remember playing minecraft back in 2013ish shit was so hard to make elevators with so many designs that worked or did for awhile and would stop. It really is crazy to see how far this game has come, it feels so much different now. Edit: Great Video BTW 😊
I've tried working this on bedrock and it simply doesn't work properly. The machine keeps on going up and down and doesn't stop after a while. Can this work on bedrock?
hello great guide! i have a questione my exp farm is undergound really deep like Y -3400000 and im trying to make a bubble elevator but the problem is i can't go all the way down the water to plant kelp all the way up cuz i would drown and i can't make water potions cuz i would have to look for blaze rods anyway i can solve this?
Well… I loved this machine and made it in bedrock. But sadly it’s just useless, it goes back and forth like for 2 minutes or so and i end up on the same floor as i entered it at. Maybe there is some kind of debug for bedrock?
What about boat/Minecraft elevators ? Certainly the fastest way of going up (for down just fall into water) ich you regularly have to traverse 100+ blocks hight difference i would always build these
I just drop a single water source from the top and run swim up or down while holding shift or space to zoom up or down. Now that you can fast swim it’s super easy. Thinking about capturing a dolphin to make it even faster
you can climb freestanding normal vines, so long as you have it supported at the top, but its a lot harder to actually stay on it than the rather forgiving nether variants
So I was following along with the tutorial and it got to the point where you removed the temporary blocks on top. At that point it decided to start moving downwards of its own volition, phased through some slabs, and pushed my iron golem out of its position in the farm below it. Yours didnt move when you took those blocks off, so I dont quite know what was different.
There is a overworld source for either soul sand or soul soil, I can't remember which. It's in the ancient city. It is what gives that one statue the blue soul fire effect at its bottom. It's probably much easier to go to the nether than risk the ancient city.
Is there a slower version of the trie elevator? The camera moved really fast and I couldn't keep up with the instructions or see what was happening clearly.
Has anyone else built (Im using slime blocks instead of honey) the simple machine design part in bedrock and had the elevator just kind of glitch up then down then up and down? Sometimes during this glitchy accent / decent it will actually make it to the top furnace and trap door but not stop rather pushes them further up? Also the bottom furnace and top furnace eventually get stuck to the slime blocks on the top and bottom as well haha. I've looked over and over and I have the simple design machine part built exactly the same. I'm sure I've done something wrong just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Sick videos btw Eyecraftmc super cool stuff.
Things like this work completly different in Bedrock edition. In Java each block with a slot can not be moved, they can in Bedrock. If you use obsidian instead the furnace blocks it might work. Let me know if you give a try. :)
Is there a practical reason to use the magma bubblevator instead of just a dead drop? One block of water and a sign to hold it three blocks above the landing pad will render any fall harmless and I'm pretty sure it's faster, too.
The two way elevator isn’t working for me in bedrock, does it need to be slime blocks instead? It will randomly decide to go up or down and not just one direction. All the pistons and observers are in the right direction too.
Are dual piston slime block elevators a thing anymore? If you encased it in furnaces or obsidian you used to be able to have a piston with a slime block launch you upwards and then exactly one block below your maximum height you have a sticky piston push another piston and slime block right beneath you and when timed right it would continue the momentum, and to get back down, the bottom block would be a slime block so just crouch fall, or have it swapped out for flowing water. It's not really practical to build because it's so meticulous in terms of timing with repeaters, not to mention it's most viable to build in creative because of the obsidian or furnaces.
You do pretty good vids you forgot the cool type of elevator though... Put on leather boots and just step into a powdered snow tower...i call it the ice-calator. Works like a bubble elevator tho you may freeze if its too tall.
Can you please make a video on best ways to gain xp, i know enderman farms exist and give a lot of xp but i don't want to die in the void, but currently i am doing fishing to get xp.
Question, can this design be used for multiple floors, or would each floor need separate elevators? Also, would honey blocks work instead of slime blocks?
What about bedrock edition? Whenever I build this sort of thing (either with honey blocks or slime blocks) instead of successfully going up and down on command with the use of trapdoors, it moves completely at random; sometimes up, sometimes down, sometimes it'll go back and forth mid-air! I also recognize the fact that furnaces can be moved by pistons in Bedrock Edition, therefore they cannot be used as blocks to stop the elevator from moving. Instead, I use obsidian, but either way the same thing occurs; the random movement. Sometimes it'll touch the top stopping point and sometimes it'll move up there but just move back down. I tried a furnace just for the sake of it and the elevator picked up the furnace then repeated its random travel of indecisive ups and downs.
Glad to see I'm not the only one with that issue, too! I was experimenting with a 2x tall, 2x wide elevator and couldn't get it to behave like the video, guess it must be the game physics? Sad that they can't make them similar to Java anymore...
If the difference in height is over 100 I just use nether portals Only thing you have to keep in mind is learning how they function with chunk borders so you understand how far apart they need to be to not cause issues with linking
