Sustained performance is really the selling point for this device. So many devices hit 60fps on genshin but then dip down after about 15 minutes or so, but not this one.
Another selling point is the 165hz refresh rate screen which is absolutely amazing. The thing is this phone runs better than the top dogs (Samsung S22 and iPhone 13) which cost over 1000$ compared to this which is only 630$-800$
In the end, you really just need to have a real good active cooling system to have the full measure of high-end processors. The minimum for a gaming smartphone is 5000 mAh, the ideal being 6000. If gaming smartphone makers thought to put in decent cameras they would sell so many more. And above all, no memory card support on gaming smartphones, it's illogical when 99% of portable consoles have them.
Of course they need to sacrifice the battery as it is not that crucial in gaming phones and they can band aid solution by using a fast charger, it's a better sacrifice to improve the chipset, gpu and cooling of the device. Having more mah and big capacity of battery is useless if you cant use your phone smoothly especially in gaming and just normal use
Since this year started Snapdragon has been becoming the next best CPU especially when it comes to playing retro games and including big games that are MMO.. This is a must have hands on, works perfectly good. Thank you ETA PRIME.!!!
I picked Asus ROG 2 over red magic 3, but I'll probably get the red magic 7 over Asus ROG 5/6 because I think I would prefer the inbuilt fan compared to the external one Asus have.
Im so excited for next year. the next 2nd generation of exynos will bring the performance we really need for switch emulation. Mobile gaming is finally hitting its golden age. Hardware if ahead of the software, and its glorious
Can you run or emulate windows on this? I saw the Odin Pro run some steam games, it didn't run them very well, but being this a much more powerful device it left me wondering
I think it has HDMI to display because that's what I was looking up, I'd use it for emulation for sure because of the performance is amazing on this tbh.
I would love to see a gaming phone with a 16:9 screen to avoid huge black bars when doing emulation or gamepass streaming. Modern phone aspect ratios are not fit for gaming.
I'm in the market for a new phone, and I'm not gonna lie... I love the design and the concept of active cooling. I feel like the 4500mah battery though isn't going to be nearly enough for a device like this though. I could be wrong, but I can imagine most of the gameplay would be while plugged in to a charger similar to a gaming laptop. With that in mind, does this support USB-C docks? Could you connect a mouse/keyboard/power and an hdmi or displayport output to it all at the same time?
If you asking for "Desktop Mode", NO! it does not. Only "Xiaomi", "Motorola" and "Samsung" have a desktop like feature or unless you get a desktop mode third-party app which often not that great. If you asking for "Mirroring Out Display" over "USB-C", then YES it can. I would advices on trying out a third-party home launcher app for a much cleaner experience like "Nova Launcher" or "Launchbox".
I used a keyboard/hub combo with my Red Magic 6S. I was able to use a mouse, a PS3 Controller, and external storage as well as another USB hub hooked into the keyboard/hub with no issues. There is no true "desktop mode" like Samsung, Motorola and a few others, but using the mouse will give you a pointer and it acts like a regular mouse clicking whatever you need as you move it around. It also has an HDMI out so video from the phone is mirrored, just search for keyboard hub on amazon.
@@patricklasko1360 I am very familiar with Nova Launcher as I use that on my old Nvidia Shield. Also yes, I was just looking for video out, not a desktop mode. My game of choice these days is Arknights and having a mouse makes things a lot easier. So just being able to have video to a larger screen and a mouse is a nice pair of features for me.
How does this compare with the new S22 Ultra? I’m nervous to ask. You’d think by now the Emulation for god of war would be perfect but it doesn’t seem to have improved?? Then again 2x with no issues is already great...
God of War II and Shadow of the Colossus rank among the most demanding PS2 games to emulate. My 2019 gaming laptop still struggles with SOTC at times. There are certain games that'll run no issue on any mid to upper range phone from the last 2 years like FF12, DMC3 and SMT Nocturne, and then there are those two games. The fact that this thing ran GOWII that well is enough. I wanted one of the S22 phones for the SD8 Gen 1 chip, now I'm leaning towards this.
Fan on this thing will keep performance high on long usage while other flagship like Samsung will be throttled do to high temps and no adequate fan cooling mechanism.
It is so sad that native Android (and iOS) gaming is so neglected. I bet this would play the entire PS3 / Xbox 360 library and probably a good chunk of Xbox One and PS4 games.
It totally can but for consoles it all about optimization not power and yes mobile hardware has become ridiculously powerful over the last couple of years in fact I bet the latest phones are near if not faster than a console like the ps3 and probably ps4 xbox 360 and mabe xbox one
Would be awesome to get some 7th gen game ports to Android. It's not like these types of phones couldn't run these older games. I can't give a single shit about the types of games usually available on Google Playstore but if I got some ports of stuff like Burnout Paradise or Hot Pursuit 2010 or Tekken 6 I would buy that stuff ASAP. Those games would work well enough with touch controls and they could also offer dedicated android controller support. This needs to be a thing.
Bro PS3 and Xbox 360 port are lacking because of: IAPs... Mobile game devs cannot milk gamers for money with games like GTA IV, Far Cry 2, Mirror Edge, Tomb Raider Legend etc These do not have IAPs unlike Genshin Impact, Lol Wild Rift, RR3 etc 😔
I looked online and on the redmagic website looking to see if u can get the older redmagic phones for cheap but u can't and they haven't had the cheaper redmagic 6R for some time it's been sold out for months
I tried hooking up my Redmagic 7 to my 4k Sony TV via usbc to HDMI and as soon as I connect to the TV it makes my phone crash and reboot only to crash again. Has anyone connected to their display with success?
Honestly really compelling, If I ever get myself a phone with the snapdragon 8 gen 1 you can bet it would be something like this with actual cooling capabilities, that chip is hell on your palm
As much as i like these phones i do not trust the software on it. I use my phone with sensitive information. And i dunno how safe this phone is. I do not install like a child, apps from everywhere and go on shady websites yet still the only one i really trust is the software on galaxy S-series.
Well u should really stop using official citra emulator is way outdated.. mmj is way better and for ps2 should try the alternative version from the official website of aethersx2 those heavy games like gow2 and others runs amazing using the vulkan api (news drivers) only for that mod of aethersx2
id love to try redmagic gaming phones but 6.5 to 7inches are kinda small to me when gaming. atleast the size of ipad minis are the sweet spot for gaming. i prefer gaming on ipad pros i could see better😂😂😂
@Spooky problem was mini was almost 800usd with 5g 256gb. i see apple charging 1000 usd for mini which is so expensive. i doubt theyd do 165 -240hz soon
@Spooky i agree! but i think there are games that are more playable on specific screen sizes. i played mobile legends and league of legends. none complicated heroes are playable on small screens. but there are heroes requires bigger screens to play even better or thats just me cause i have bad eyesight😂😂😂
@Spooky granger😍 for some reason i cannot play him at his full potentional on smaller screens. what i mean my aiming and movement was off on smaller screens compared to using ipad pros. i could put on 30kills at best and 8kills at worst while using ipadpros. i could never do that on smaller screens😂😂😂😂
