This dude has more cards that the entirety of Sweden haha. Nvidia artificiall low stock didn't go that well for them. Me and a lot others is just going to get a big Navi if they get remotely close to a 3080
For Clarification, the TUF temperatures numbers you see in this video are in the loud PERFORMANCE MODE, open case, and cannot be directly compared (I've tried to blur them out via RU-vid). This screen was to compare power usage and clock speeds. The MSI can run a lot quieter if you ramp up the fans, but here i'm testing the cards in their default state. The Asus Tuf is generally a little louder but cooler, while the MSI is quieter yet hotter. I'd get the TUF and save the extra cash, unless you want to overclock and use more power, or prefer the MSI's design (which does look better IMO). Hope this helps!
Others say the TUF isn't really that loud in comparison. Also the TUF is mainly aluminium vs MSI's plastic copy of a ASUS 2080 TI Strix 😂 TUF is also cheaper.
when you noise normalise the cards, the TUF and MSI perform identically. So essentially your paying extra on the msi for looks and RGB. Hard time seeing how people wouldn't buy the TUF instead, its just better and cheaper
Me before launch: The EVGAs looks terrible, I hate MSI as a company, Gigabyte's look kinda cool but the FE kills it Me after launch: Aesthetics be damned I'll accept anything 🥺
You earned a new subscription 😁 I have found myself enjoying your videos so much lately, I like how you explain things so well and don't try to make things sound confusing. Keep it up!
Must be nice got a full MSI build right now slobbering waiting for the trio but I can’t get my hands on it so I’m without gaming now 🙂 my feelings are hurt bad just wanted the trio man that’s it Update 10-15-2020 still have not got a card. Things are still rough out there :/
@@alex__13 Ye same, rumours scan are having more rtx 3080 cards coming in on the 24 September so you might be lucky to get yours the weekend. Followed by more stock coming in on 3rd/4th October.
@@maddoxgaming8310 oh I hope it is the case, though I'm now considering grabbing 3090 FE if I can and cancelling 3080. But I'm just afraid it's gonna be even worse with 3090 than it were with 3080
@@alex__13 I would stay away from 3090. Once again rumours are stating 10-20% increase in performance over 3080. Complete waste of extra money. I ordered the Zotac 3080 from scan and im keeping the pre order. It wont be long before we get our cards.
@@SiphonYT Yes, I think it should. The Corsair 280x has a max GPU length of 300mm and the TUF GPU requires the case to have a max length of 300mm so it should fit. It's funny you asked because last night, I was just looking at the 2 lol
Great review. You are one of the few that will give an honest review, including the negatives. Most others sound like a commercial and only stress the strengths of the product. I still like the Tuf though. Hope they become available eventually
Great review. I was hoping you'd use the support strut so I could see how much extra room I'll need with it attached and whether I can still keep my sound card in it's current spot!
Used MSI primarily the last 3 generation of graphics cards. Trio X and Duke editions of MSI have always been number 1 in performance while at the same time beeing very silent. Crazy combo. Its worth the extra bucks in my opinion.
I've got one preordered from scan. Should have it by the time its been made obsolete by the 20gb cards 😁 Like your taste in keyboards. I've got the 915 tkl too. 👍
Don't worry about those cards. The 3090 don't overshine the 3080 really, with only 10-15% better performance. Those 20gb wont be better than the 3090 so you're fine with any standard 3080 for quite some time.
When comparing the temperatures between the cards you really should be noise normalising the fan speeds. But in case people were interested in the temps, at 7:26 the temperatures of all the cards were visible for a few frames. TRIO: 80 deg @1700RPM Founders: 75 deg @ 1700RPM TUF: 66 deg @ 2200RPM Trio seems to perform worse than the FE at the same RPM? Its hard to know unless we know how loud each fans are.
I blurred them out because you cannot compare those - that's open case perf mode on the tuf vs closed case with the MSI. The MSI does run about 5 degs more than the tuf in its quiet mode, but the MSI runs quieter, so you can just adjust the fan curve if desired. It's very hard to compare these subtleties on video, I'm frustrated I didn't explain it better
🤣 yeah rgb not only looks awesome but adds at least 30fps just by those sexy looks. Anyway I'm buying the msi gaming trio, just waiting for the right moment to jump on it. Prices are coming down. This month might see a huge drop. If not I'll just buy it anyway but of course want best price I can get.
Was thinking FE but had a MSi 2080ti no problems, going for the 3090 though. Great video. Maybe i should get another MSI 3090? Should i wait for bench tests before committing?
Hey man, im new to the pc world and i havent even gotten my first pc yet but ive been watching alot of your videos which have been very informative and really fun to watch. But would you be able to post a fkat vs curved monitor video?? Because ive seen other peoples videos on it but i would love to hear your opinion ok it😁
Getting mine Msi X trio 3080 tomorrow 28/9 08:00 and I have a Corsair RM750x, 750W. So really hope that will be enough. Does this GPU comes with software that you can adjust fanspeed etc?
What I don’t understand about this card is having 3 power pins with a hard 370W power limit if I’m not mistaken.kind of defeats the purpose for a 3rd 8 pin.
Sedulous I’ll be waiting till when ever I get an in stock order in somewhere else or the end of October/November when Overclockers finally has enough stock.
@@abshmoin2233 but there is always a drop in performance when we use a card with an external gpu ,so if we use it will we still get a higher performance?and will it fit in a razer core x🤔
I couldn't believe it, spotted one and just bought it from VERY, the online catalogue shop (UK). Get it Friday. Just checked and they're still available.
I'm looking to buy this card and i have 2 questions: 1) Wil my corsair rm750x psu be able to handle it paired with a 5600x. (msi website says do but i'm getting mixed messages on the internet) 2) my psu only has 2 pcie power cables but 4 pcie connectors. Is it ok if i connect 1 cable with one connector and the other cable with both connectors?
In all the videos of this card the side bar looks a little dim/washed out. Is this true in person or just the way it reacts to a camera? The other LEDs in the system just seem more vivid.
Thing is with all the extra cabling that's needed for this card, Why don't they design the card with the power socket on the PCIe side?... No more unsightly cables routing there way around the card.
I managed to trade my Playstation 5 for this GPU.. Im sad I left my old account with Sony but this card is amazing.. I can literally play any game on ultra or any settings without any struggle!
Dude, have you managed to get lower temp than 80C under heavy load? I watch tons of videos where the temp reachs up to 65 C but I already flashed the BIOS with the "low temp bios" upgrade and still get the same temps. I also customized the fans through MSI Afterbrurner with a very aggressive curve and no matter what I try, I still reache around 80 C.
@@khalidzoz4186 ive tried undervolting since ive been noticing heating issues after 1 hour of gaming but still on going. Starts to throttle image while game is still playing on.
Please tell me those intake fans were off to better hear the card fan noise.(Sorry if it was explained, skipped through for specific info(power draw/noise), thanks for it though).
I cancelled my preorder of the trio for the tuf card. What benefits do you get with the trio other than the fact that it looks better (although how good does it really look with the anti-sag bracket and 3 power cables sticking out of it)? It's not cooler, it's barely more silent and it doesn't noticibly perform better out of the box judging from current benchmarks online, and I haven't seen anyone so far overclock it to an extent that it would make up for the 100$ extra (plus for parts you may need to upgrade along with it like the PSU).
@@fallis07 I'm not so sure that would look much better, but even if that would be the case that would cost you like another 50 bucks extra. I don't mind paying a bit more for aesthetics, but the aesthetics fee for this particular card leave me unconvinced personally. It's a shame that we have such bad options this generation though. They all look ugly af. I come from an EVGA 1070 superclocked and compared to these 3000s that card was a piece of art, at least underneath. Another point that wasn't mentioned in this video is that the top cover is pretty much made of plastic on the trio, compared to the other cards like TUF which has more of an aluminium qualiy. I'm kinda surprised he didn't mention it in the video but I guess it was a sponsored video and didn't want to bite the feeding hand so to speak.
@@jimimaru I mean technically its graphene, but as long as the thermals are fine you aren't going to be rubbing the backplate against your face to feel the nice metallic finish like on the TUF. But I agree maybe it could have been better. My point was if u look at hardware unboxed or other reviews, once adjusting the fans on both TUF/Trio for Db's, they cool just about the same. OC on Trio is slightly better, and MY personal opinion I like the aesthetics of the trio a bit more, especially when mounted vertically which is what I plan to do. The TUF is definitely an amazing card for its price though, as it is the cheaper card, but if you don't mind spending a bit extra you cant really go wrong with the X Trio.
@@jimimaru I mean I'm only gonna hang onto the 3080 for 2 years until I sell it for a 4080, so I don't really see the interest personally in swapping for a diff 3080 model. But if you're an annual upgrader then I guess so.
does this one have the cheap capacitors everyone is talking about, that only the founders and TUF has? Sorry if i missed it in the video. Seems like the TUF is the only good one
Hey question for you, with these new graphics cards, do you plan on keeping the predator x35/ pg35vq or is there something you will be upgrading too. I have the old 32in 4k predator and have been looking to upgrade to something and dont know if i want to wait or go with one of the 35ins
I am stuck on ordering this GPU now that you mentioned the 3 8 pin connectors. I currently just bought an asus rog Thor 850w PSU. Will I be able to buy a gaming z trio 3080 lhr with this specific PSU? I am new to all this!
can i ask u something with thatc rtx since u have that what motherboard is compatible with that? and what should i use for that? Intel core or AMD? im build my own pc and i already have that MSI RTX 3080 i dont know what should i but next to be compatible with that grpahics card. Thanks
Do you have a discord pc centric? Man i really am having issues with my new 3080 msi gaming x trio! games will crash throughout the day i purchased a brand new 750 w corsair bronze as well with it! what would you suggest i do? i have tried so many options in changeing things through afterbuner etc. i still get crashes. no crazy blue screens or anything just game will freeze for a slight second and just completely close.
I think you were chocking the card as front fans are not spinning. Also I hopped you would try to overclock and show why it is 100 pounds more don't think it's just a design improvement.
@@corpsepuppy427 Looking at Readit posts, it looks like it does fit but may need to take out the front fans first to install the gpu and then fit fans back in. I have the same case and have just ordered the 3080 Gaming Trio X.
One of my first big GPU purchases was a Twin Frozr 560ti. It was awesome until the fans stopped working outside of RMA and the warranty. MSI couldn't do anything for me and I ended up getting an aftermarket Artic GPU cooler which worked but the entire experience just left a bad taste in my mouth for MSI ever since and I have refused to buy MSI anything. I know they make good stuff and I only ever use Afterburner and even though I've used EVGA since and had two cards I needed to RMA, EVGA handled it so good that I've been happy to support them ever since. Maybe its time to venture to Asus and MSI GPU's again.
Noob question, I have an EVGA 650 g2, do I need to upgrade? and if not, this psu only has 2x 8pin (6+2), 2x 6pin, and this gpu needs 3x8 pin, can i use the extra 8 pin connector from my cpu?
So if i manually pump the fans up to like 70-90% the temps will be similar to the tuf right? That plastic backplate won't hinder the performance and temps? Looking at very heavy workloads like Rendering and 3D texturing!
Yeah you can, but these cards are designed to run at 80 anyway, and remember I tested a bad case scenario with no front fans running - your temps should be lower
