Glad to see this hit you guys. Generation has nothing to do with appreciation for a song like this. And as far as getting emotion let it rip fellas. I'm a Navy Vet pushing 40 who's heard this song 1000 times, and the day I don't get misty is the day they put me in the ground. Remember it takes a strong man to let others see him feel.

The photo of the Marine you see at the end of the video is who this song is about. He died in the Iraq war. Patrick Ray Nixon. That's his real headstone. The part about his grandpa greeting him in heaven and saluting him gets me every time.

I am glad I chose to serve my county as my father, Uncle and grandfather did. they didn't choose to talk about their expeirince;s and I can respect that.

I applaud HugoBoys for reacting to this video, and we must give them grace as they are WAY to young to appreciate the gravity of this song. I graduated from the United States Air Force Academy and served for 30 years in the United States Air Force. In my first assignment I volunteered and served as a funeral detail officer leading a team of airmen to provide military honors to departed veterans throughout the state where I was assigned, and as the detail lead, I was the one that presented the folded flag to the next of kin. I've lived close enough to Arlington National Cemetery to walk to it, and did many times--and every time I felt as if I was on holy ground. I no longer meet the criteria to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery, but I'm OK with it, as I don't believe I deserve the honor.

This song is about a fallen Marine who’s grandpa also was killed in action and is burried in Arlington.

Trace Atkins and Toby Keith entertained our Troops more than played in the US. Another powerful song is: Till the Last Shots Fired (live from the CMA’s). Trace included every Veteran from every war. Thank y’all for this. Yes, there are special qualifications to earn the right to be laid to rest at Arlington.

Yes! Till the Last Shot’s Fired is beautiful but sad as well. More young folks need to appreciate our history and the sacrifices made to insure the freedoms we all enjoy the way that you guys are. Thanks for that. And yes, Trace has one of the best voices ever!! Love him. 🇺🇸♥️🇺🇸

i still have chills from being at Arlington and putting my hand of those headstones. i could only cry and said thank you for protecting our freedom.

To answer your question yes there are special criteria to be laid to rest in Arlington. My father is there and in a few years I will join him ... yes I know my time remaining is limited, no complaints life is good. You to keep doing what you do and showing respect for history and our military is a great thing

It’s my understanding that anyone who dies on active duty, retired members, or any service member that has received distinguished metals such as the Medal of Honor, Air Force Cross, etc. my cousin is an active ‘Army Ranger, and he’s told us all along that he would like to be buried there.

This is a great song and Trace did it very well. You can check out "If Your Reading This" by Tim McGraw it is a tribute to the a man that left to to fight a war and never made it back.

Just wandered into your site today as a Marine Vet 89 to 93 I enjoyed you both learning appreciation of the sentiment, respect and culture of those that have served and their Honoured spouses and families. Suggestions in same type of theme would be Semper Fi or the Empty Chair, Trace Atkins. If you want to jump genres Five Finger Death Punch, Wrong Side of Heaven is a good place for discussion of current treatment of military vets. JW below is correct the Till the Last Shot Fired live with the the West Point Cadets is the best version in my opinion.

My Grandaddy was supposed to be buried there but we chose to have him at Cheltenham (maryland) as it was a veterans cemetery closer to where all the family is.

I just came across this by chance. I was there for the egress, held my battles hand as he took his final breaths. None of us expected to see what we saw at the end of the war, but we all knew it could happen. Thank you.

Any Veteran has the right to be buried in any National Cemetery. I have an uncle in Arlington, and an aunt and uncle in a National Cemetery in Florida. May they rest in peace. Note: Taps is the saddest song you will ever hear.

The second you go through those gates, the atmosphere changes, it truly is sacred ground and yes, there are specifications to be buried there. My grandfather was honored with a plot at Arlington.

Hey guys they have tons of videos about the qualifications for guards at the tomb of the unknown they are super interesting and I would actually love if you guys watched one for a video. It’s one of the only (please forgive if I’m wrong ) qualifications that you can have removed at any time if you fail to meet the standards. Meaning even if you are already a guard you mess up they can straight up just remove you and take away your patch and it’s like you were never a guard. These guys take this very seriously.

It is song from the viewpoint of a soldier, killed in battle and buried at Arlington National Cemetery. It was inspired by United States Marine Corps Corporal Patrick Nixon, who died in battle in 2003. After meeting Nixon's father, Turnbull was inspired to write the song.[2] Adkins said that "This is not a war song, and it has nothing to do with politics. This is a true story."[3]

I think nowadays you do have to have something special to get into Arlington.. not sure. I know my Uncle Paul is there.. he was the leader of the Marine Platoon that the flag up over Iwo Jima in WWII.. I went there with my great grandmother when I was 5.. to see his grave and I also saw JFK's eternal flame.. I remember.. 50 yrs ago.. I'm old. lol.. but I love Country Music and I love me some Trace ..And I have taught my children to love and respect our military..
